The beauty of the pacific

The Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park is a historical site with stunning views. An ancient burial site for the original Hawaiian monarchy, it’s a sacred and mysterious area. Historically people who had broken ancient Hawaiian laws could escape here to seek refuge from persecution. Their combined spirits and the power of the sea are meant to offer further protection. There is beautiful scenery, fascinating wooden carvings and a lot of nature. I sat on some rocks near the sea and within a few minutes many sea turtles had emerged, Scouring the shore for food. It was such a peaceful place, you can definitely feel the presence of the past there with you. Well worth a stop if you’re travelling around the big island. #hawaii #bigisland #hawaiitourism #history
