Binhai Mazu Cultural Park

Tianjin Binhai Mazu Cultural Park is located in Caijiapu Village, Yingcheng Town, Binhai New Area, Tianjin. It is adjacent to Tianjin Central Fishing Port, Bohai Sea, and the eastern seawall of the Aircraft Carrier Theme Park, and is north of Seaside Avenue. Among them, the Mazu statue in Binhai Mazu Cultural Park is 42.3 meters high, equivalent to the height of a 14-story building. It is made up of 858 stone blocks and is the tallest Mazu statue in the world to date. The Mazu folk belief in Tianjin, which echoes the Mazu belief in Taiwan, originated from river and sea transportation and has a history of nearly 700 years. It is an important part of Tianjin's historical culture. Tianjin Binhai Mazu Cultural Park can become a new carrier and platform for economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait and even between Tianjin and countries along the "Maritime Silk Road". Mazu, also known as Tianfei or Tianhou, is a deity worshipped by generations of boatmen, sailors, and fishermen in coastal areas. Hangu District is close to Bohai Bay and has a long history influenced by Mazu culture. According to historical records, as early as the Qianlong period, the Niangniang Temple in Hangu Dashentang was famous far and wide. The Mazu belief is very common in Taiwan, with a total of 510 Mazu temples of various sizes across the island. The shared Mazu cultural tradition between Hangu District and Taiwan has become the foundation and bond for cooperation between the two sides.
