Tokyo One-Day Tour: National Stadium and Tokyo Station Marunouchi Building

The National Stadium, which won the 63rd BCS Award, features a facade designed with overlapping eaves. Each eave is covered with small wooden louvers, attempting to modernize the traditional Japanese aesthetic of eaves. It served as the main stadium for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Tokyo Station Marunouchi Building, Japan's gateway, began construction in March 1908 (Meiji 41) and opened in December 1914 (Taisho 3). As the central station born in Tokyo, the capital leading Japan's modernization, it has developed alongside the country's premier business district while witnessing numerous historical moments. In 2012 (Heisei 24), the Marunouchi Building, designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan, was restored to its original appearance. Tokyo Station City continues to evolve as a place where history meets the future, and Japan meets the world.
