I recently visited the Former Asakura Residence in Daikanyama, designated as a National Important Cultural Property. Although the building is quite old, it is immaculately maintained, and you can truly tell how carefully it has been preserved. One of its greatest charms is getting a sense of the traditional Japanese lifestyle as you stroll through the tatami-mat rooms and down the long wooden corridors. The garden is a strolling-style landscape garden that beautifully utilizes the natural elevation of the cliffside, making it far more spacious than you might imagine. Filled with stone lanterns, lush moss, and abundant trees, the view of the garden from inside the house looks just like a painting. Upon admission, you receive a bookmark featuring a QR code.
