LAILA TYLER

Maoping Village, Tonglu

Located in the southern part of Tonglu County, it is one of the most remote mountain villages in Fuchunjiang Town, with a total area of 29.1 square kilometers. It is the main village of the Fuchunjiang rural slow life experience area. The village was established during the Song and Yuan dynasties and has a history of more than 900 years. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, an ancient cobblestone path runs through the village from north to south. It is also a trade route leading to Puyang and Yiwu. In front of the village, a stream meanders down for more than 10 miles, eventually flowing into the Fuchun River, depicted by Huang Gongwang. Maoping Village currently has more than twenty historical and cultural buildings, such as the Hu's Ancestral Hall, Dongshan Academy, and Wen'an Tower. Most of these ancient buildings were constructed during the Ming and Qing dynasties, with white walls and black tiles, and a gentle color palette. There are also ancient trees such as Chinese cypress, camphor, and Amur cork tree.
