High-Quality Chaozhou Cuisine

My family wanted to try Chaozhou food, so we searched online and found this newly opened Chaozhou restaurant. We decided to go there for lunch while shopping in Wan Chai. As soon as we stepped out of the elevator, we saw many celebrity photos (felt quite high-class ourselves... haha). Besides the main dining area, there are also several private rooms. The overall ambiance is very comfortable without feeling cramped. We started with two types of steamed dim sum. First came the Chaozhou-style shrimp dumplings. The translucent skin was filled with fresh shrimp, which was bouncy and large, providing a rich texture. The Chaozhou steamed dumplings had a similarly translucent skin, with a filling that included chives, wood ear mushrooms, peanuts, minced pork, and white radish. It was very refreshing and delicious, even for someone like me who usually doesn't enjoy dumplings. No Chaozhou meal is complete without marinated goose liver and goose meat. The marinade was fragrant and not overly salty. Both the goose meat and liver were well-marinated. My husband said the goose meat had a strong flavor and was tender with a hint of goose fat. The goose meat was already excellent, but the goose liver was even more appealing to me. It had a rich, smooth texture that melted in your mouth, making it hard to stop eating despite its indulgence. Don't underestimate the accompanying fried tofu. It absorbed the marinade well and was very tender, making it another highlight. Next, we each had a bowl of chicken broth with shark fin. It was a delightful surprise, with a rich and sweet chicken flavor without any greasiness. The shark fin was plentiful and had a great texture, making it an enjoyable dish. Finally, we had two bowls of Chaozhou-style dessert: green bean soup with glutinous rice balls. The rice balls were soft and chewy, paired with the sweet and textured green beans, making it a nice ending to the meal. 📍 2/F, THE PHOENIX, 23 Luard Road, Wan Chai
