Is the overly old Wudalianchi Scenic Area worth visiting? (With guide)

Wudalianchi is named after five interconnected bead-like lakes formed by volcanic eruptions between 1719 and 1721. Wudalianchi consists of five lake areas, surrounding volcanic groups, and various vegetation and water landscapes. However, it is not a single scenic area but multiple dispersed scenic spots. You can choose the ones you want to visit based on your preferences. A 1-1.5 day tour is more suitable. ⚠️ Laoheishan and Shuijinggong scenic spots are currently closed. 🪨 Itinerary Longmen Stone Village - Wenbo - Beiyinquan - Gelaqiu Mountain - Bailong Lake Mostly natural scenery. If you like hot springs, you can add Nanyinquan, which is effective for treating skin diseases; if you like history and geography, you can add the Geological/Volcanic Museum. It is recommended to stay near the west gate of Wenbo, where hotels are more concentrated. There is also a food street, featuring lake fish, barbecue, and volcanic spring beer. 🪨 Longmen Stone Village Formed by block lava flows, there are two stone villages, one large and one small, with a 3.8-kilometer circular boardwalk passing through dense forests and large volcanic rocks. You can see the volcano from a distance. My personal favorite. Ticket: 45 yuan/adult (May 1 - Sep 30); 30 yuan/adult (Oct 1 - Apr 30) 🪨 Gelaqiu Mountain Tianchi An old volcano that erupted 2.03 million years ago. The crater used to be a Tianchi, but unfortunately, it no longer has water. A substitute for Laoheishan, it is a hiking route, but you can also take a cable car up the mountain. The best angle is from a drone. Ticket: 20 yuan/adult (May 1 - Oct 31); 14 yuan/adult (Nov 1 - Apr 30) 🪨 Beiyinquan A park that includes classical garden-style buildings, lava terraces, wetlands, and Yaquan Lake scenery. The most famous feature is the naturally carbonated cold mineral water that can be drunk directly, which is said to be effective for digestive system diseases. ⚠️ It can only be drunk when cold. If left for a while, the water quality turns yellow and can no longer be consumed. Ticket: 20 yuan/adult 🪨 Wenbo A bonsai-like volcanic wonder, half of the scenic area is a hiking route, and the other half is a boat route. It is recommended to enter from the east gate and exit from the west gate, walking the boardwalk first and then taking the boat. There are far fewer tourists this way. Ticket: 40 yuan/adult (including boat ticket) East Gate - West Gate/West Gate - East Gate shuttle bus: 5 yuan/one way 🪨 Bailong Lake (Third Lake) The largest of the five connected lakes, the best place to watch the sunset, and you can take a boat. Boat: 100 yuan/person 🪨 Some complaints 1️⃣ The scenic area is too old and monotonous, with no supporting recreational projects. 2️⃣ There isn't a single coffee shop or beverage shop in so many scenic spots, and the restaurants on the food street are very similar. 3️⃣ The hotels in the scenic area are also very old, with no newly opened or high-end brand hotels. 4️⃣ Tickets can only be purchased on-site, with no online channels.
