| The obscure Foguang Temple is actually the last remnant of the great Tang Dynasty. Retracing the Lianglin Road to Xinzhou Ever since I decided to visit Shanxi to see ancient architecture, Foguang Temple, one of the only three remaining Tang Dynasty buildings in China, has been on my must-visit list ⛩ Foguang Temple, built against the mountain, was rebuilt in the year 857 during the Tang Dynasty. The Eastern Great Hall is the destination of this trip. Mr. Liang Sicheng once said, 'In this very same hall, one finds Tang Dynasty paintings, calligraphy, and sculptures, each a rare treasure. Combined, they are unparalleled.' 🤏 (Little Tips) The stone steps in front of the Eastern Great Hall are quite steep, at a 90-degree angle, like the final test given by Buddha himself, be careful when ascending and descending! Compared to the ancient buildings in southeastern Shanxi, Foguang Temple is still quite obscure. There were hardly any people when I visited.
