The reason is that it is really too far from Wutai Mountain, 50 kilometers away from the nearest west gate, and public transportation is extremely inconvenient, so I chose to drive there this time. I hope that with the blessing of "Black Myth·Wukong", it will be more convenient to go there in the future. · The first sight of Foguang Temple is larger than imagined. I thought it was just a big hall, but I didn't expect that there are still many buildings along the mountain, divided into three platforms. In addition to the East Hall of the Tang Dynasty, which was called the "First National Treasure of China" by Liang Sicheng, there are also the Manjusri Hall of the Jin Dynasty, the Ancestor Tower of the Northern Wei Dynasty, two stone pillars of the Tang Dynasty, and buildings of the Ming and Qing Dynasties... Yes, the buildings of the Ming and Qing Dynasties here are difficult to have a "name". · Through the mountain gate, enter the yard, and you can see the East Hall standing on the high platform from a distance, looming under the cover of pine trees. Without staying too much in the hall below, I went straight up along the stairs inside the high platform. The stairs are quite steep, and the angle of view exceeds 60°. The process of climbing down is quite a pilgrimage. · The moment I reached the high platform, the entire East Hall finally appeared. As the earliest Tang Dynasty hall-style wooden structure in China, although Foguang Temple looks simple in appearance, the seven-room hall in this mountain and wild is indeed like a giant, and what is even more precious is that the East Hall Most of the building components maintain the original structure of the Tang Dynasty. After seeing the Ming and Qing Dou Gong that only played a decorative role, I looked at the huge Dou Gong of Foguang Temple, and I really understood the original meaning of Dou Gong, which was the power to support the journey through a thousand years. · When Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin first discovered this magnificent and exquisite Tang Dynasty wooden structure inspired by the Dunhuang murals-Wutai Mountain Map, they must have been amazed. It was because of the discovery of the Lianglin couple that the foreign scholar’s assertion that "there is no wooden structure building before the Tang Dynasty in China" was broken. · In addition to the East Hall itself, the clay sculptures in the hall are also original Tang Dynasty objects, but probably because of heavy makeup, the intuitive feeling does not seem to be as old as the big hall. Among the many clay sculptures, the most noteworthy is the Ning Gongyu statue in the corner. This is the first time I have seen a temple with a statue of a donor. Lin Huiyin also had a group photo with this statue. The two women who crossed a thousand years met at that moment, just like a dialogue across time and space. · Probably because the East Hall is too famous, the Manjusri Hall of the Jin Dynasty under the high platform is almost ignored. But in fact, this hall is very interesting. Its beam frame uses thick and long wood. The two frames are braced with oblique wood to form a "human-shaped truss", which increases the span, reduces the columns, and increases the space in the hall. It is the only form in ancient Chinese wooden architecture and has the architectural characteristics of the Liao and Jin Dynasties.
