Kumarajiva Temple｜It has never changed its name for more than 1,600 years, just to commemorate the eminent monks through the ages.

Kumarajiva (343-413) was a great figure in the field of Buddhism. He was proficient in the Tripitaka, Vinaya, and the Tripitaka. He was the first Tripitaka master and one of the four major translators of Buddhist scriptures in Chinese Buddhism in China. First, his translation works had a significant impact on the spread of Buddhism in China. I met with this wise man at Kumarajiva Temple in Wuwei City. Kumarajiva Temple occupies a small area, but it is unique. The architecture in the temple is exquisite and gorgeous. The main buildings include the Mahavira Hall, the Kumarajiva Memorial Hall and the Kumarajiva Pagoda. In sharp contrast to the busy modern streets outside the temple, the inside of the temple seems quiet and peaceful, as if it is another world. Kumarajiva was born in Kuqa, Xinjiang. He could read at the age of 3, and his knowledge exceeded that of ordinary people at the age of 5. When he was 7 years old, he became a monk under the leadership of his mother. He then practiced Buddhism in Shule and began to translate Buddhist scriptures. When I was 9 years old, I went through many hardships and went to India with my mother to study. He became a famous archmage at the age of 15. In 384 AD, Kumarajiva arrived in Liangzhou and stayed in Kumarajiva Temple for 17 years. He translated 74 Buddhist scriptures and 384 volumes. The translated Buddhist scriptures are easy to understand and beautiful in diction, and are still circulated today. After the master passed away, in accordance with his will, the tongue, which was not burned to death, was turned into a relic and enshrined in the pagoda of Luoshi Temple. 🌈Highlights: ✅The Roshi Temple Pagoda was first built in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (around 415 AD). It was built in the Ming Dynasty and was destroyed by an earthquake in 1927. In 2013, it was rebuilt with an all-wood structure according to the ancient architectural style of the Ming Dynasty. It is five rooms wide. , three bays deep inside, 15 meters high, with double eaves and mountain top-style roof tiles, brackets and brackets, and painted spirals.
