There are also numerous human-faced Apsaras, divine birds, peacocks, and parrots perched on the misty clouds. The vast group of sculptures is complex yet not cluttered, naturally orderly, set against the layered heavenly palaces ✅Although protected by railings, it is almost face-to-face, and this feeling of viewing historical relics up close is extremely shocking! —— 👉🏻Xiaoxitian, also known as Qianfo An, was founded in the second year of the Chongzhen era of the Ming dynasty, located on the precipice of Phoenix Mountain to the west of Xixian County, Linfen, Shanxi, with a perilous terrain 🏘Xiaoxitian has many buildings including the Daxiong Hall, Wenshu Hall, Puxian Hall, Wuliang Hall, Heavenly King Hall, Weituo Hall, Ksitigarbha Hall, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, etc. The scale is not large but complete 🕰The hanging sculptures were mostly painted and sculpted between the seventeenth year of the Chongzhen era of the Ming dynasty (1644) and the thirteenth year of the Shunzhi era of the Qing dynasty (1656), depicting seas of clouds, mountains, mythological figures, exotic flowers, Vajra Arhats, etc., lifelike as if they were vivid three-dimensional paintings, remaining untainted after more than three hundred years 🧽The painted beams in the framework are even made with gold leaf on a base of fine plaster, similar to the dragon and phoenix and imperial colored paintings in the court.
