You must visit Labrang Monastery when you travel to Gannan! We stayed in Xiahe the night before, and went straight to Labrang Monastery the next morning! The parking lot of the temple is very large, and there is no need to queue up to buy tickets at the visitor center. Tickets are checked quickly at the entrance of the scenic spot and you can enter the temple. What impressed me most here is the promotion of Tibetan Buddhist culture in the temple! After entering the temple, we followed everyone to the explanation office, where a lama from the temple led us on a tour! He is very young, but he speaks very well. He told us about the origin of each Buddha hall, the story of each Buddha statue, and his understanding of Tibetan Buddhism. He doesn't seek form, but sincerity! 🌼Labrang Monastery, located in Xiahe County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, has a full Tibetan name: "Ganden Shartse Dargye Tashi Gyisu Kyilang", which means "the temple of joy, explanation, practice, and auspicious right rotation". It is simply called Tashi Kyil Monastery, and is generally known as Labrang Monastery. Labrang Monastery is a variant of the Tibetan word "Labrang", which means the residence of the living Buddha master. It is one of the six major monasteries of the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism and is known as the "World Tibetan Academy" in the world. At its peak, there were more than 4,000 monks. It was opened to tourists in 1980. The main monk is the sixth Jamyang Hutuktu, and other leaders include the eight Khenpos and the four Seychelles. Labrang Monastery historically claimed to have 108 affiliated temples (actually far more than this number). It is the political and religious center of the Gannan region. Labrang Monastery retains the best Tibetan Buddhist teaching system in the country.
