Gulangyu Island is a famous tourist attraction. Originally named "Yuanshazhou", it covers an area of about 1.88 square kilometers. It faces Xiamen Island across the sea, forming a beautiful seascape. There are four ferry terminals to Gulangyu Island: Xiagul Terminal, First Terminal, Songyu Terminal, and Ferry Terminal. The latter is not open to tourists during the day. Gulangyu Island is also famous for its rich history, culture, and music. It is known as the "World Architecture Expo" and the "Piano Island". Sunlight Rock is the highest peak on Gulangyu Island and one of the three core scenic spots. It is said that the national hero Zheng Chenggong stationed troops here after retaking Taiwan at the end of the Ming Dynasty. The view from Sunlight Rock is spectacular. Standing on the top, you can overlook the entire Gulangyu Island and Xiamen city. You can see houses, forests, the sea, and ships in the distance. The Zheng Chenggong Memorial Hall was built in 1962 and is located in the Sunlight Rock Scenic Area. It was built to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the great national hero Zheng Chenggong's recapture of Taiwan. The museum is divided into seven sections, which systematically display Zheng Chenggong's life and achievements. Standing on the upper floor of the memorial hall, you can also see the beautiful scenery of Gulangyu Island. Other attractions in the Sunlight Rock Scenic Area include the Bocake Cultural Park, Sunlight Rock Temple, Master Hongyi Memorial Park, and Longtoushan Fort Ruins. Gangzihou Seaside Bathing Beach is located to the west of Shuzhuang Garden, and the two are connected. In summer and autumn, the beach is crowded with swimmers. Gangzihou Bathing Beach has a gentle slope, fine sand, shallow water, a wide sea area, clean seawater, and lush trees on the shore. Shuzhuang Garden was built in 1913 and was originally the private garden of Lin Erjia, a wealthy Taiwanese businessman. It is now one of the three core scenic spots on Gulangyu Island. Shuzhuang Garden is divided into two main parts: Canghaiyuan and Bushingyuan, each with five scenic spots. The five scenic spots of Canghai are Meishoutang, Renqiu Pavilion, Zhenrat Pavilion, Forty-Four Bridges, and Zhaoliang Pavilion. The Piano Museum is located in the "Tingtao Xuan" of Shuzhuang Garden and covers an area of 450 square meters. The museum is composed of more than 40 antique pianos donated by patriotic overseas Chinese Hu Youyi, including rare and precious gold-plated pianos, the world's earliest square pianos, and the earliest and largest upright pianos. Haoyueyuan is a historical and cultural park commemorating Zheng Chenggong and one of the three core scenic spots on Gulangyu Island. The main attractions include Zheng Chenggong's stone statue, bronze relief, and poem stele corridor. Among them, Zheng Chenggong's stone statue is 15.7 meters high and weighs 1617 tons, making it the largest historical figure statue in China. Longtou Road Snack Street is a popular place for tourists to taste local delicacies. This snack street not only offers a wide variety of food, but is also open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It brings together a variety of delicacies, each with its own characteristics and loved by locals. Bagualou Xiamen Gulangyu Bagualou is a representative of Xiamen's modern architecture. It was built in 1907 during the Qing Guangxu period and is now the Pipe Organ Museum. It houses Asia's largest pipe organ and displays many precious pipe organs from different countries and eras. Meihua Beach is a high-quality beach with gentle waves and soft sand, suitable for swimming. It is said to be the location of the "Gulangyu Stone". In the early years, Xiamen people called it "Meihua Bathing Beach", which was a base for family vacations and weekend leisure activities. There is an early fort here, as if telling modern people the history of the past.
