Travelogue of Yangjiaxi and Dongbi Village in Xiapu

May 9, 2024, visited Yangjiaxi, Banyan Maple Park, and Dongbi Village. The first stop: Banyan Maple Park (admission fee 18 yuan/person). The main attraction here is the ancient banyan trees, with several trees nearly a thousand years old, especially the classic photos taken by photographers, such as beautiful women herding geese and old farmers leading cows, which under the Tyndall light effect, present a beautiful pastoral scenery. However, it has now become commercialized, and one has to pay to take pictures with the beautiful women herding geese and old farmers leading cows (Image 1, 2). The second stop: Chixi Village. Chixi Village is a She ethnic administrative village under the jurisdiction of Fuding City, Ningde, Fujian. On June 24, 1984, the 'People's Daily' published a letter on its front page reflecting the poverty of Chixi's Xiaoshanxi natural village, which attracted high attention from the central leadership of the Party, thus triggering a poverty alleviation campaign that benefited the whole country. Chixi Village is therefore known as 'China's first poverty alleviation village'. The main visit was to the older She ethnic dwellings; the original inhabitants have long since moved to new homes, leaving the old houses for tourists to visit. The local villagers have already become wealthy through white tea cultivation and tourism development (Image 3, 4). The third stop: Light and Shadow Plank Road. The wooden plank road built along the coast below Dongbi Village, with white handrails and brown wooden floors, has an artistic feel. Walking on the plank road and taking pictures of the seascape, different artistic effects are presented under different lights and shadows. We entered from the north entrance and exited from the east, walking for about 40 minutes, probably 1000 meters long (Image 5, 6, 7). The fourth stop: Dongbi Village. The village is backed by mountains and faces the sea. With the development of tourism, many homestays and alleys in the village have become popular spots for internet celebrities. Indeed, some homestays, due to their fashionable design and avant-garde decoration, are very photogenic and attract many tourists to check in and take photos (Image 8, 9, 10, 11). The fifth stop: Gangwei Bridge to photograph the sunset glow. Today is really lucky to be able to capture the sunset glow. In the afternoon, before the sun had set, the Gangwei Bridge below Dongbi Village was already filled with photographers holding various 'long guns and short cannons'. The first thing to shoot was the light and shadow formed by the receding tide on the beach under the bridge. The golden sand with the water lines formed by the tide, under the light and shadow, created textures like tree branches. A beautiful woman in red working under the dazzling light and shadow composed a very beautiful tidal flat light and shadow art painting, very pretty (Image 12, 13, 14). Around 6:10 pm, as the sun gradually set, the sunlight passing through the clouds formed a beautiful sunset glow, shining on the sea in a golden hue. The fishing boats and bamboo rafts on the sea, together with the glittering sunset glow, constituted a very beautiful and unique seascape (Image 15, 16).
