Yang County, a small city with many stories

Yang County, affiliated to Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province, is located in the southwestern part of Shaanxi Province, on the eastern edge of the Hanzhong Basin, north against the Qinling Mountains, south against the Ba Mountains, east adjacent to Foping and Shiquan counties, south neighboring Xixiang County, west bordering Chenggu County, and north bordering Liuba and Taibai counties. Yang County has a long history. During the Western Jin Dynasty, Yangzhou was established within its territory, which has a history of more than 1,700 years of establishment. The idiom 'having a well-thought-out plan' originates from Yang County, which is also the burial place of Cai Lun, the inventor of one of the four great inventions, papermaking. The Han tune, the firework-laden shelves, and the hanging platform folk performances have been listed as national intangible cultural heritages. There are 19 key cultural relics protection sites within the county, including the Tang Dynasty's Kai Ming Temple Pagoda, the Yuan Dynasty's Juehuang Hall, and the Ming Dynasty's Zhiguo Temple Sutra Depository, making it a culturally advanced county in Shaanxi Province. Yang County is the only area in Shaanxi Province that has two national nature reserves, Crested Ibis and Changqing, and is known as one of the best ecological areas on the same latitude on Earth. It is also the only artificial breeding source and main wild habitat for the world's rare bird, the Crested Ibis. Huayang, an ancient town located on the ancient Tangluo Trail in the hinterland of the Qinling Mountains, is known as the first ancient town of the Qinling Mountains, where the headquarters of the Red 25th Army was once located. The Changqing National Nature Reserve, adjacent to the ancient town, is home to the 'Four Treasures of the Qinling Mountains': the Crested Ibis, the Giant Panda, the Golden Monkey, and the Takin, which is rare in the country.
