Small and Exquisite Yangshuo Sugar House

Yangshuo Sugar House, located at 102 Dongling Road, Yangshuo, was transformed from an abandoned old sugar factory. Situated in a mountain hollow by the Li River, it took four years to perfectly blend the old industrial plant with the needs of a modern leisure resort, utilizing the surrounding beautiful natural landscape. After opening, it has won multiple design awards and is considered a must-visit spot by countless architectural design professionals and enthusiasts. It's a popular hotel on social media, so we were full of expectations. Entering the hotel from a hidden gate by the roadside, we couldn't find the lobby. We asked someone, and they pointed to a brick house beside me: 'This is it!' Looking up, the eight characters 'Hard Work, Struggle, Frugality, Nation Building' were prominently displayed, giving a strong sense of historical vicissitudes. The white grid exterior wall of the guest room building on the right, however, pulls you back to the modern leisure atmosphere. The guest rooms at Sugar House are divided into standard rooms and villas, located on the two wings of the hotel. We stayed in a standard room, and the facilities were not much different from most five-star hotels. However, the room design concept emphasizes simplicity, elegance, and delicacy, with bright lighting that makes you feel comfortable and pleasant. Each room has a nearly square large balcony facing the green mountains, echoing the old factory buildings on the left, which are actually hotel functional facilities. A special note: everything in the mini-bar in the guest room is free except for champagne and red wine. Additionally, they provide a set of soothing sleep spray, revitalizing facial mist, lemongrass calming lotion, and other small items. Sugar House has an interesting welcome program: a 'hotel tour.' A staff member from the front desk takes guests around the main building facilities, introducing the history and current functions, such as the lobby originally being the power room of the old sugar factory, the swimming pool being the old water pump room and waterway transport channel, and the bar being the juice room and sedimentation tank. This tour departs at fixed times daily, and guests can join as they wish. In summary, my impression of Sugar House is 'small and exquisite.' Under careful design, the old factory has been transformed into a stylish leisure hotel, cleverly hidden in simplicity, with beautiful scenery everywhere, offering 360-degree photo opportunities. You can take beautiful photos from any angle—overhead, low-angle, squatting, or candid shots. However, the hotel area is small; you can see and photograph everything, even the corners, in one or two hours. Another point is that the design is a bit too strong, somewhat deliberate. Not that it's bad; many people particularly like this kind of delicacy.
