Ancient cypresses, verdant and towering, guard the emerald corridor of the Shu Road

The name 'Emerald Corridor' comes from a poem by Qiao Bo, the governor of Jianzhou during the early Qing Dynasty: "Jianmen path, rugged and uneven stone road. Who planted these rows of ancient cypresses? Three hundred miles long, a hundred thousand trees. Emerald Corridor, protected by the misty smoke, moss flowers shade the rain-soaked clothes, the cool breeze passes through the drooping leaves and curled branches. No stone is unfit for rest, every place is worthy of a verse. Dragons and snakes wind and entwine the mountains, it is said that in ancient times, it was Li Bai, the husband, who passed through, his extraordinary deeds inspire envy. Do not say the Shu Road is difficult, do not miss the Jianmen path." Before this, the road was called 'Imperial Cypress Avenue' because it preserved many ancient pines and cypresses. The 'Imperial' refers to Qin Shi Huang. After unifying China, Qin Shi Huang ordered the construction of expressways centered on Xianyang, planting pines and cypresses along the roads. The construction of these expressways played a significant role in the establishment of the Qin Empire. The Emerald Corridor near Jianchuang on the Jinniu Road is sheltered by the pines and cypresses. The cypress trees on the Emerald Corridor are a typical representation of the Chinese cypress community, embodying the cultural essence of Chinese cypresses and displaying a spirit that dares to defy fate and a vitality full of youthful vigor. These cypresses are rooted in the barren wilderness and rugged ridges, having endured lightning strikes, fires, storms, and snow pressures, all sorts of disasters. Although they are exposed roots and claws, broken branches and limbs, and covered in scars, they still stand stubbornly, heads held high, lush and dripping with vitality, sheltering the ancient road for a thousand years. Recently, while organizing photos, I was once again moved by these ancient cypress trees. Their tenacious vitality has stood for hundreds, thousands of years.
