Nogeyama Zoo

Nogeyama Zoo is located near our hotel. It is currently undergoing some redesign and renovation, so admission is free, and we decided to visit. Upon entering, there is a shop selling merchandise, mainly plush toys of the zoo's animal stars, which are very cute in design. There aren't many large animals in the zoo, with giraffes and bears being the main attractions. The polar bear was not present, and its enclosure was used for landscaping and art displays. However, there are four features in the zoo that I particularly liked. First, the guinea pig exhibit. Each guinea pig is adorable, whether they are sleeping or active, and the zoo has even named them, making them feel more personable. Second, the zoo director uses leaves to create animal art designs, and posters and pictures of these can be seen throughout the zoo, which was a pleasant surprise. Third, I saw an anteater for the first time, which made me very happy. Fourth, there are many turtles bred within the zoo. Information about their birth dates and names is available, making it interesting to observe and accompany their growth year by year. This makes me want to visit again, and I hope the renovations will make the zoo even better.

Nogeyama Park

Nogeyama zoo is a free entry zoo located at Nogeyama park with not so many animal but still ok for me. One of most famous one here is red panda, they really cute but it depend on your luck cause sometime they're sleeping and you don't have much chance to see them play with each other. Another plus point for this zoo is free chance to interact with guine pig and small lab mouse. Each session is about 40 minutes. They will conduct a session to show you how to handle with them first (in Japanese, I don't know if English version is available but I think it's not). Please make sure you understand this well because this is important for safety when get in here. When enter you can freely choose any guine pig, chicken you want to pet and have a nice time with them. The lab mouse is my favorite one, they are not to pet but to play with. They love to climb so be careful. Another caution is after play with the lab mouse your cloth may smell a little bit (maybe). The zoo have small food court area and small picnic area, quite family friendly in my opinion. At the end it's not a big zoo but I love it. #givethanks #givethanks
