I originally thought Songyang was already amazing enough, until I drove deep into the mountains of Wenzhou's Yongjia, and then I discovered this is what Jiangnan should truly look like! There's absolutely no annoying feeling of over-commercialization. As far as the eye can see, there are blue tiles, wooden eaves, and gurgling water 🌊. The moment I was woken up by the birdsong in the mountains in the early morning, I instantly understood the relaxation of "Plucking chrysanthemums by the eastern fence, leisurely I see the Southern Mountain." That healing feeling is more effective than drinking ten cups of milk tea! Let me tell you about my treasure check-in spots 👇 Linkeng Ancient Village is truly, truly, truly amazing! A secluded village embraced tightly by the Nanxi River. 108 Ming and Qing Dynasty wooden houses are lined up along the stream. Villagers still live in 200-year-old houses to this day. The stone bridge at the village entrance, the lush century-old camphor trees, the leisurely flock of ducks in the stream, and the cooking smoke mixed with the scent of burning wood drifting into the alleys— it instantly takes me back to summer at my grandma's house in childhood 🌞. At Cangpo Ancient Village, you can unlock Song Dynasty romance for just 10 yuan! Touch the thousand-year-old village walls and see the Bagua water channels winding around the ancient academy. The ancient bridge at the entrance is so beautiful it leaves you speechless. It completely has the charm of a mini Hongcun, and it's great for photos 📸. Lishui Ancient Street is relatively more commercialized. There are small shops all along the stream, and it's super atmospheric to stroll and eat there at night. Go for the grilled sausages, Wenzhou fish cakes, and brown sugar mochi without hesitation. Eating while watching the gurgling stream, the feeling of happiness is overflowing~ Furong Ancient Village is right next to Lishui Ancient Street. Sit in Furong Pavilion to enjoy the cool breeze, watching the villagers come and go and the slow passage of time. It vaguely feels like this is the last secret realm of Jiangnan 🌿. I originally went to Taogong Cave for the koi fish, but I was amazed by the cave itself! The stalactites are incredibly textured, and the koi are super plump. When driving along the Nanxi River, you'll encounter many great riverside camping spots. No need to specifically look for them; just stop if you see one you like on the roadside.
