An oasis in the desert, the Loulan Kurle Village

Great beauty of Xinjiang, the Loulan Kurle Village, is located in Dunhuang Township, Yuli County, Xinjiang. The Loulan people are a branch of the Uighur ethnic group, an ancient tribe unique to Xinjiang. For thousands of years, they have lived in isolation, and now only more than twenty households remain in the Lop Nur area, making a living by fishing, shrouded in mystery. They live by the water, and their way of life is not nomadic but based on fishing and hunting. Longevity is a major characteristic of the Loulan people, the village is situated on the edge of the Taklamakan Desert, with the Tarim River flowing through it, nourishing the poplar trees inside and outside the village. Due to the hot climate and rare rainfall in the desert area, almost every Loulan person's house is a simple wooden hut that is ventilated on all sides. The Loulan people 'only fish with small boats for food'. The Kaban boat is the local fishing boat, and the Fairy Lake is the largest lake in the scenic area. The scenic area covers 72 square kilometers, encompassing the Taklamakan Desert, shifting lakes, the Tarim River, primitive poplar forests, and grasslands. It is a distinctive scenic area that combines natural and cultural landscapes.
