Yuncheng Drum Tower in Shanxi

The Drum Tower of Yuncheng, built in 1579, is a symbolic building of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It was bombed by the Kuomintang's plane during the liberation of Yuncheng in 1949. In 2015, the government rebuilt the Drum Tower. The great litterateur Liu Zongyuan described the prosperity of Hedong salt being sold far and wide in 'Jin Wen'. The Drum Tower, with a staircase on each side, served defensive and timekeeping functions in ancient times. Today's Drum Tower, like an old man, has witnessed the history of Yuncheng and is also witnessing its development.
