A small temple hidden in the old town of Nantong—Tianning Zen Temple

🍁 I went for a stroll in the old town over the weekend and passed by Tianning Temple, a serene place of Zen tucked away in the hustle and bustle! 🍁 Stepping into Tianning Zen Temple, the first thing that catches the eye is the Hall of Heavenly Kings, where one can pray devoutly or wander at will. The entire temple is simple and elegant, with flying eaves and upturned corners, a classic example of ancient wooden bracket-set columns architecture. The stone base of the Mahavira Hall and the pillars of the Vajra Hall are relics from the Song Dynasty, representing the ancient architectural style of Nantong city. 🍁 Tianning Temple was originally named Guangxiao Temple and is one of Nantong's famous attractions. On May 25, 2006, Tianning Temple in Nantong was announced by the State Council of the People's Republic of China as the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
