Zhenyuan Ancient Town

Zhenyuan Ancient Town is located in Zhenyuan County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province. It is a cultural city with a history of more than 2,200 years. The ancient town is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with the Wuyang River running through it, forming a unique pattern of "nine mountains embracing one river, and green water running through the city." The north bank is the old government city, and the south bank is the old guard city. From a distance, the layout of the ancient town resembles a Tai Chi diagram. Zhenyuan Ancient Town covers an area of 3.1 square kilometers and has nearly 200 scenic spots, including eight guild halls, four caves, eight ancestral halls, nine temples, twelve docks, and the ancient city walls of the government and guard cities. The main historical sites include Qinglong Cave, Zhongyuan Zen Temple, Wanshou Palace, Zhusheng Bridge, Xianglu Rock, Tianhou Palace, the ancient city walls of the government and guard cities, Wu Wang Cave, the Four Palaces (Temple of the Eastern God of War), Heping Village, and the former residence of Zhou Dawen. The temples, nunneries, ancestral halls, pavilions, palaces, ancient residences, ancient alleys, and ancient docks in the ancient town form a "traditional cultural maze" entirely composed of scenic spots. Zhenyuan Ancient Town is a multicultural ancient town where more than 20 ethnic minorities, including the Han and Dong, live in harmony. The integration of Central Plains culture, Jingchu culture, Bashu culture, Wuyue culture, Minyue culture, indigenous culture, and foreign culture has made Zhenyuan a museum of multiple ethnicities, religions, and societies, which experts call a "world cultural protection circle." In terms of climate, Zhenyuan Ancient Town has a subtropical monsoon humid climate, with an average annual temperature of 16.4 degrees Celsius. It is not too cold in winter, not too hot in summer, and warm in spring and autumn. The tourism resources are very rich, and it is known as a "maze of traditional culture" and a "place where nature and culture are perfectly combined." It is a cultural city, with beautiful mountains and rivers, natural culture, and ethnic customs, and is therefore also known as a "perfect ancient town with mountains and rivers, and a rare resort."
