Last summer, Zibo in Shandong became famous for its barbecue. It was a hit in Shandong, all over China, and even beyond the Great Wall. It was a huge success!  Zibo, known as the "Pearl of Central Shandong", has a long history and rich cultural heritage. More than 2,000 years ago, Zibo was known as the largest city in the Spring and Autumn Period, and was a small "Shanghai" of the Qi State. There is the Qi State Museum, a national key cultural relic protection unit, and the ruins of the Qi State's ancient city.  Zibo is also the ancient Qi State's food capital. Around the late 1970s, the municipal government centralized eight departments (mainly the Finance Bureau, Education Bureau, Health Bureau, Agriculture Bureau, Water Resources Bureau, Forestry Bureau, Culture Bureau, and Mechanical Industry Bureau) in one office, which was commonly known as the Eight Bureaus. In March 2011, the "Eight Bureaus" were demolished. With the development of the times, the so-called "Eight Bureaus" are no longer at their original site. However, the "Eight Bureaus" convenience farmers' market, which was left behind by the "Eight Bureaus" as a "historical calling card", has become a shopping place for the people of Lao Zhangdian. It is convenient, cheap, and a familiar business. It is a gathering place for the people of Lao Zhangdian to shop and live. Walking into the Eight Bureaus is like stepping into a colorful world. The steaming stir-fried pot cakes, the golden and crispy fried pork, and the fragrant duck heads and necks, each bite is a genuine Shandong flavor, leaving you wanting more. In the Eight Bureaus, barbecue is no longer just a simple food, but a symbol of culture. There are many kinds of barbecue here, from traditional lamb skewers to innovative durian grilled cakes, each bite is an extreme temptation to the taste buds. The most attractive thing is the unique barbecue technique. The masters are skilled and have a good control of the heat. Each skewer of grilled meat emits a tempting glow under the charcoal fire. For more than a year, Zibo barbecue and cultural tourism have been very popular. This is inseparable from the "good people, good things, and good hearts" of Zibo.
