Eastern Qing Tombs The Eastern Qing Tombs, as the burial place of the emperors and concubines of the Qing Dynasty, is indeed a rare good place from the perspective of landform. The Eastern Qing Tombs are surrounded by mountains on all sides, with Jinxing Mountain in the south, Changrui Mountain in the north, Yingfei Daoyang Mountain in the east, Huanghua Mountain in the west, and Yingbi Mountain in the middle, which is the "feng shui treasure land" believed by ancient people. The construction time of the Eastern Qing Tombs spanned the rise and fall of the Qing Dynasty, from the 18th year of Shunzhi (1661) to the 34th year of Guangxu (1908), lasting 247 years. During this period, 5 emperors, 15 empresses, 136 concubines, 3 princes, and 2 princesses of the Qing Dynasty were buried here. However, not all mausoleums in the Eastern Qing Tombs can be visited. Now only the Yuling of Emperor Qianlong and the Dingdongling of Cixi can be visited, because these two mausoleums were blown up by warlord Sun Dianying in the 1920s, and the underground palace was completely exposed. Therefore, the state also took the opportunity to open these two mausoleums for people to visit in 1979. All other mausoleums have also been stolen, but only the thief holes have not been fully opened to the underground palace. Therefore, other mausoleums will also be permanently preserved and will not be opened again. The most spectacular part of the Eastern Qing Tombs is the 5.5-kilometer sacred road that extends from the stone archway to the Xiaoling in the north. There are eighteen pairs of stone statues on both sides, all of which still exist intact, telling the past glory of the Qing Empire. The Eastern Qing Tombs is the largest, most complete, and most regular ancient royal mausoleum building complex in China, with important historical, cultural and artistic value. It was listed as the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units in 1961 and was listed as a World Cultural Heritage in 2000.
