Catch the beauty of Walzin Castle From Lisse River
#familytrips2024 #vianasjourney
Even though Walzin Castle is not open for public to enter but many visitors take the chance to admire this castle from afar. For me, the best to do it is by the river. The space area is open for public to picnic on the side. You can walk closer to the castle through the river as well. Another option is to kayak through Lisse River. You can easily find kayak rental nearby if you don’t have your own. If you are not fan of those, take the walking trail across the river and enjoy the sight of the castle while enjoying the nature surrounding. It’s definitely worth to visit.
My Experiences & Feedback of Citadel of Dinant
#familytrips2024 #vianasjourney
Located at the top of the hill above Gothic Collegiate Church of Our Lady, you can imagine how high the stairs that you have to climb up. The stairs area are small for both people going up and down at the same time. But considering that it was a fortress before, I can understand the reason of such a small pathway. There’s a cable car to access the top but it’s slow and small in size, the capacity can only take small amount of visitors in one trip, so the que is pretty long from going up and coming down. The place that you are allowed to visit up there is not a lot, so I hope you don’t expect much. Cafe and playground available, same for souvenirs shop as well. WC are available for 50cents, so bring your change. If you are lazy to climb or ride the cable car, you should look up how to reach the citadel by cars to the top as I saw plenty of cars parked next to the citadel.
Exploring The City of Dinant
#familytrips2024 #vianasjourney
It’s a small size city I noticed. The city area decorated with plenty of saxophones which labeled with names of different countries, not just European countries but I also saw some from other countries such Japan and China. Good to know that this city is actually a birthplace of Adolphe Sax, an inventor of saxophones. I saw plenty of tour boat touring on the Meuse River and it seems that visitors can easily buy ticket on the side of the river. I went on Ascension Day but it still possible to find free parking space around the city which is pretty convenient.

Dinant, Belgium
We stopped in the Belgian city of Dinant on my way from Luxembourg to the airport in Brussels. Dinant is a small, quaint Belgian town - saxophones line the Charles de Gaulle Bridge and decorate the city, celebrating Adolphe Sax, the Belgian inventor of the saxophone, who was born in Dinant. The most notable views while walking around the main part of the city are the massive Citadel of Dinant and the impressive gothic Notre Dame de Dinant. And of course, when in Belgium, do not miss a chance to try those famous and delicious Belgian mussels!

Ibis Dinant Centre Room Tour
Stayed at this hotel for one night. The hotel itself was really good value and our room was clean and comfortable with a great view of the River Meuse. Was given an upgrade of room with a view of River Meuse which was excellent! The bar with terrace overlooking the balcony was also beautiful as it was overlooking the river. All of the staff were friendly and helpful.
Dinant is a beautiful little city so it is well worth visiting.

Dinant - charming little town in Belgium
Dinant is a city and municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Namur, Belgium. This city on the Meuse River is in an incredibly picturesque spot, squeezed between the water and the high valley walls.
To the east is an insurmountable wall of limestone that has long made Dinant an attractive place for armies to gain a foothold on the Meuse. That cliff is still topped by a citadel, above the distinctive 16th-centuy onion dome of the Collegiate Church.
A charming town with beautiful scenery and a nice place to stay for at least a night to relax and enjoy the views.

Dinant in Belgium has its own Copenhagen
The scenery here has already surpassed Bruges and Ghent in my mind (of course, Bruges and Ghent are also very beautiful).
But the beauty of Dinant is the beauty of the French-speaking region, which is somewhat different from the scenery of the Dutch-speaking region.
Dinant is a small town on the Meuse River in the French-speaking southern part of Belgium. From Namur, take a small train all the way south, and the scenery along the way is of water towns until you approach the border between Belgium and France.
The buildings in Dinant are mainly in medieval style. P2 is the landmark of Dinant, the Gothic-style Notre-Dame Church. According to the information, the Notre-Dame Church was built in the 13th century and is a surviving medieval building.
The beautiful hometown of the saxophone, Dinant
The town of Dinant is located in the Namur province of the Walloon region in Belgium. The town is situated on the edge of a steep plateau, with the entire city built along both banks of the Meuse River. Historically, Dinant was famous for its metal crafts and is also known as the hometown of the saxophone. In his travel notes on Belgium, Victor Hugo described the border town of Dinant as a 'picturesque city.'
The most attractive sights in Dinant are the Collegiate Church of Our Lady and the Dinant Citadel. The Collegiate Church of Our Lady was rebuilt in the 13th century and stands on the banks of the Meuse River, serving as a landmark of Dinant. The Dinant Citadel is located on a 100-meter-high cliff beside the Meuse River. The castle was built in 1051 and rebuilt in the 19th century. From the highest point of the citadel, one can overlook the entire city of Dinant.
In the Middle Ages, Dinant was known for its brass production, and you can see many metal products here, such as the statue of Charles de Gaulle at the Dinant Bridge. Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the saxophone, was born here. Besides the picturesque scenery, Dinant is also known as the land of the saxophone. In Dinant, the influence of the saxophone and Adolphe Sax can be seen everywhere. Colorful saxophone models stand on both sides of the Charles de Gaulle Bridge in the city center. The birthplace of Adolphe Sax, the 'Maison de Sax,' is located on Sax Street and has now become a small museum that records the 'Sax story' of the town of Dinant.
The Collegiate Church of Our Lady of Dinant
#familytrips2024 #vianasjourney
Known for it’s pear shaped bell tower, this catholic church located just below the Citadel of Dinant. The entrance is located on the left side with small door into the church. Entrance did not require any fee but you may give donations especially to light up candles (it can be found in the church itself). Inside the church shows 4 corners occupied with 3 corners for sitting and the other corner is the main altar. In the middle itself built a slightly higher (with small stairs) pedestal for the preacher, it built so everyone able to see. While in the city, take the chance to visit, especially if you have extra time.
Dinant 🇧🇪 Belgium

Dinant is a beautiful city located in the Belgian province of Namur. It is situated along with the Meuse River and there’s mountain behind the city.
Last year in June, I went to Dinant with my family to go sightseeing. The views are incredible when I climbed up to the observation point and saw the whole view of the city area. Moreover, this city is the originally saxophone come from . The inventor was born in here and that’s why this place became famous . Hopefully I get another chance to come in 2024!

The birthplace of saxophone
#dinant
Beautiful small Belgian city. Also here was invented a saxophone by local master of musical instruments - Adolphe Sax. Lots of saxophones are spread in the town and every year it hosts jazz festival.
Come for the food, stay for the ambiance!
Our family had just one day to enjoy the sights, sounds and most importantly the delectable eats in the city of Belgium. After a full day trekking all over to see the sights, we stumbled upon this gem of a cafe sitting at the tip of the most beautiful intersection. The menu had something for every starving explorer to enjoy and the house brews were simply amazing! As we sat and enjoyed our meals the ambiance of the outdoor dining area made us feel super comfortable and at every turn we saw the most beautiful views, like the towering wall
of hats. The service was impeccable from the moment we arrived and everyone wanted to ensure we were pleased with every part of the meal. We will definitely visit Cafe Leffe whenever we are in Belgium again and you should too!

Mushroom Jun's European Travel
Belgium, Dinant City
Dinan City in the Alpine Region of southern Belgium, Citadelle Castle is built on a hill, located on a cliff up to 100 meters, overlooking The Meuse River passes through the town.
Overlooking the town, we met the owner of the castle, Baron Marc de Villenfagne. This may be one of my contacts with the European nobility. The first feeling is:
The baron is very kind and has a long leg.
The Baron led us to visit his castle, such as the fully automatic cable car built by his father, which is rare in all of Belgium; the armory, underground bunkers and cannons inside the castle; Dinan Cathedral below.
Because Citadelle Castle is very famous, it was requested by the government to open to the public. As the owner of the castle, the baron also has a responsibility to introduce the history of Dinant to the delegations of various countries. For the nobility, the greater the ability, the greater the responsibility.
Privately asked the baron a question, "Where do you go if you bring friends to play Dinant?" The baron recommended a Chateau de Veves, which is full of memories of his childhood.
Drive to the sunset and the fallen leaves, the castle seems to be coated with a golden light. It opens every weekend from March to November and opens every day from July 15th to August 31st. If you arrive in Dinant, remember to check it out.
Looking at Dylan's entire city is like a fortress. Although it is not so magnificent in our time, it is so impregnable that it is difficult to defend. You don't need to visit any attraction in Dylan. You just need to walk aimlessly on the street, on both sides, old buildings and historical sites, sweeping through the blocks. When he doesn't have to think about anything, he can really breathe in harmony with the city. The state of the people living here, even a kitten and a dog on the side of the road, is the shadow of the return of the enemy after the precipitation and sublimation.
Looking down the walls of the ancient city of Dinant, you can see that the modern Long Bridge is 75 meters higher than the Lance River and his small entertainment port. It is a paradise for snorkeling enthusiasts, and hundreds of kayaks are swimming in the river.
The most impressive thing about me is the half-timbered houses on the streets of Dinant. It is said that there are more than 130 houses left. The charm of the entire old world is still tested by the perfect successor in the wheel of history.
Carpe diem is a chain of restaurants all over the world, and there is also a hidden town in Dinant. What does the chain represent? Quality assurance. Sometimes we still order fish and duck legs, and many French restaurants especially like to cook these two things. The taste of each family is different. The things that this family is doing are very delicate. Whether it is the color of the food itself or the plate, it will try to be perfect.
The desserts here make everyone talk about it, first look very good, let everyone evoke appetite. Then there is a variety of sauces that seem to fit together and get the right taste.
said that the shortcoming is the cooking time of this restaurant. It is really slow. I am also a common problem in French restaurants. If you have a French meal, you may consume 2 hours. This is your patience. Sufficient test.
In Dinant, there is no purpose to swim, and the ancient buildings and historical sites on both sides are swept away. The colonnade architecture of Saint-Sauveur and the church of Saint-Malo, dating back to the castles of the 13th to 15th centuries... when you dont have to think about anything, you can truly breathe in with the city, the people who live here. State, even a kitten on the side of the road, the puppy is the shadow of the return of Dinant precipitation and sublimation.
