Catch the beauty of Walzin Castle From Lisse River
#familytrips2024 #vianasjourney
Even though Walzin Castle is not open for public to enter but many visitors take the chance to admire this castle from afar. For me, the best to do it is by the river. The space area is open for public to picnic on the side. You can walk closer to the castle through the river as well. Another option is to kayak through Lisse River. You can easily find kayak rental nearby if you don’t have your own. If you are not fan of those, take the walking trail across the river and enjoy the sight of the castle while enjoying the nature surrounding. It’s definitely worth to visit.

My Experiences & Feedback of Citadel of Dinant
#familytrips2024 #vianasjourney
Located at the top of the hill above Gothic Collegiate Church of Our Lady, you can imagine how high the stairs that you have to climb up. The stairs area are small for both people going up and down at the same time. But considering that it was a fortress before, I can understand the reason of such a small pathway. There’s a cable car to access the top but it’s slow and small in size, the capacity can only take small amount of visitors in one trip, so the que is pretty long from going up and coming down. The place that you are allowed to visit up there is not a lot, so I hope you don’t expect much. Cafe and playground available, same for souvenirs shop as well. WC are available for 50cents, so bring your change. If you are lazy to climb or ride the cable car, you should look up how to reach the citadel by cars to the top as I saw plenty of cars parked next to the citadel.

Dinant, Belgium
We stopped in the Belgian city of Dinant on my way from Luxembourg to the airport in Brussels. Dinant is a small, quaint Belgian town - saxophones line the Charles de Gaulle Bridge and decorate the city, celebrating Adolphe Sax, the Belgian inventor of the saxophone, who was born in Dinant. The most notable views while walking around the main part of the city are the massive Citadel of Dinant and the impressive gothic Notre Dame de Dinant. And of course, when in Belgium, do not miss a chance to try those famous and delicious Belgian mussels!

Jacobs pastry shop, bakery and cookie factory
#JanuaryDestinations2026
Patisserie-boulangerie et fabrique de couques Jacobs is the most representative traditional bakery in Dinant, Belgium, located at Rue Grande 147. Since 1860, the Jacobs family has been specializing in the local specialty "Couque de Dinant"—a very hard, sweet honey cookie made with flour, honey, and sugar, often embossed with beautiful patterns, and with a long shelf life. Besides couques, they also offer fresh baguettes, croissants, cakes, and other handmade pastries. A must-visit classic shop for tourists, it perfectly showcases the pastry traditions and family craftsmanship of the Walloon region.

Dinant: A Dramatic Riverside Canvas
The street walk along Dinant's Meuse River is a spectacle of dramatic design. The architecture is vertically striking, with colourful houses pressed between steep cliffs and the water. The colossal, fortress-like Citadel dominates the skyline, while the iconic, saxophone-shaped cable cars add a note of playful modern design. The riverside promenade itself is the perfect stage, framing the unforgettable Collegiate Church with its distinctive onion-dome bell tower against the cliff face. It’s a powerful, cohesive scene where nature, history, and bold design create a truly unforgettable Belgian tableau.

To Dinant, Belgium
I transferred from Brussels to Dinant. It took a little over two hours each way, but I really wanted to take a photo of this view. The cathedral was amazing, and the fortress-like castle above it was also amazing. I couldn't use the cable car, so I had to walk up the stairs, which was tough. The view from above is spectacular. Since it was a weekday, there were no tourists, and the saxophone is also famous. I was only able to stay for a few hours, but I was satisfied 😆 #Belgium #Dinant

Citadel in Dinant a gem
Forget everything you think you know about history tours! Just got back from the Citadel of Dinant and I'm still laughing.
First off, getting up there is a cardio workout, but the views are totally worth the jelly legs. You can take the cable car, but where's the fun in that? I chose the stairs and earned my frites.
Now, for the main event: the virtual pad. I thought it was just going to be a boring audio guide, but this thing is a comedian in your pocket. It's like a sarcastic narrator telling you all the juicy historical gossip while pointing out where the soldiers probably complained about their uniforms. It’s hilariously dramatic, and I'm pretty sure my virtual tour guide and I are best friends now.
Seriously, this place is the perfect mix of incredible views, fascinating history, and a self-aware sense of humor. Go for the views, stay for the virtual sass!

Dinant - charming little town in Belgium
Dinant is a city and municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Namur, Belgium. This city on the Meuse River is in an incredibly picturesque spot, squeezed between the water and the high valley walls.
To the east is an insurmountable wall of limestone that has long made Dinant an attractive place for armies to gain a foothold on the Meuse. That cliff is still topped by a citadel, above the distinctive 16th-centuy onion dome of the Collegiate Church.
A charming town with beautiful scenery and a nice place to stay for at least a night to relax and enjoy the views.

Dinant, Belgium is the hometown of saxophone, and also the birthplace of Mr. SAX. Although Dinant is a small town, the whole town is full of strong attraction. When you walk in the alleys, the residents you meet will greet you in French without exception: Bonjour. Having visited many small towns in Europe and Japan, this is one of the few that makes tourists feel at home.
