2024 Doha Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
Doha, Qatar’s biggest city, is a growing entity. The flow of development money has resulted in buildings like I.M. Pei’s Museum of Islamic Arts on the bay, and its selection as the site of the 2022 World Cup, the first to be hosted in the Middle East, will surely cement Doha’s growing imprint on the world map. Stroll down the Corniche, a seaside promenade affording views of the imposing skyscrapers and look for a sheesha bar, where you can become a member of the locals in smoking some fruit flavoured tobacco. Shopping is an important pastime in this city where alcohol is largely banned (expect to imbibe only at large international hotels) and malls take on an almost theme park style - like the Villaggio, a replica of Venice where you can take a gondola ride from the shops to the food court. The souqs (markets) offer a less burnished browsing experience. If shopping’s not your thing, try taking off of the city for a desert safari or to see the singing sand dunes, which hum as the wind blows across them. Finally, rest your head on any of the extremely comfortable pillows at Doha’s plentiful luxury hotels.

Katara Cultural Village
Visiting the Katara Cultural Village in Doha was a rich and enjoyable experience. I loved touring this cultural center where traditional and modern art and architecture blend together🏛️. Traveling between galleries and museums provided an opportunity to learn about and be inspired by Qatari and Arab arts and crafts 🌟. Exploring open spaces like plazas and cultural facilities added vibrancy and a variety of activities to the visit 🎨. Hidden gem in Doha

National museum of Qatar
Ticket price: adult 50 QAR (13,5$)
Children - free
Very interactive and great for children. Information is in English and Arabic. You learn about the formation of Qatar, the people of Qatar, from its Bedouin roots to its modern-day achievements
There appear to be guided tours but check the website. Having said this, pretty much simple to navigate yourself. Huge and spacious building. Very clean. Fast WIFI. There are places where you can get a coffee or a bite to eat.
The architecture of the building is just stunning. The building itself, inspired by a desert rose, is a sight to behold. Take some time before or after your visit to admire this. The grounds are huge. To enter you must go through a security check. I wore a sleeveless top and was told to cover my shoulders so dress modestly. There is a gift shop as well. Entrance fee is reasonable.

One day in Doha
If you’re flying through Doha on your way to another destination, consider turning one vacation into two by spending a day in this bustling city full of culture, art, traditions, and Arabian hospitality. You can get a good taste of what the city has to offer in 24 hours, and if you have longer, so much the better.
Start with a walk along part of the 4.3-mile-long Corniche hemming the turquoise waters of the nearly circular Doha Bay. Start on the side anchored by the National Museum of Qatar. Designed by famed architect Jean Nouvel, the museum resembles a desert rose – a gypsum formation found in the nearby desert. Walk toward the fabulous Doha skyline, past the traditional wooden dhows in the old harbor, making for a perfect contrast of old and new Doha. Pause to earmark the I.M. Pei-designed Museum of Islamic Art for after lunch, and turn left into Souq Waqif.
#Travelqatar
Souq Waqif is a warren of traditional shops selling everything from bales of rich cloth to sparkling gold, from traditional incense and spices to fluffy stuffed camels to take home for a souvenir. Cafes, restaurants, and traditional juice stalls offer refreshments, and have outdoor seating where you can watch the hustle and bustle of the bazaar.

One day in Doha
On the way from UAE back to Europe we didn’t miss the chance to get stopover for 24 hours in Doha, capital of Qatar
We picked hotel in old city, near ancient market
Souq Waqif is a beautifully re-created traditional marketplace in the center of Doha not far from the Corniche. The original souq which dated back to the 1800s was destroyed in a fire in 2003 but was rebuilt in 2006 and has an authentic look and feel.
There are shops inside and out selling clothing, jewelry, spices, animals and crafts. It is a great place to pick up a souvenir. I enjoyed this so much more than the grittier souq in Dubai where the vendors were aggressive and annoying. Minimal pressure in the Souq Waqif. This is also a great area to have a meal with many different restaurants to choose from. It's a vibrant place and even more enjoyable after dark#doha
🌟 Doha's Deluxe Oasis: Hilton Pearl Revealed 🌟
Nestled in the heart of Doha at Tower AQ-07, Abraj Quartier, Pearl Blvd, the Hilton Doha the Pearl is a gem waiting to be discovered. 🏨✨
Imagine waking up to serene sea views from a spacious balcony, or cooking up a storm in your own room with a handy kitchenette. The Hilton Doha the Pearl offers this and more, with its prime location a stone's throw from the beach, boardwalk, and the charming Venetian-inspired quarters. 🌊🍳
Dive into luxury with a well-maintained pool area, or start your day with a sumptuous outdoor breakfast. While there might be a hiccup or two with room supplies, the staff's courteous and prompt service ensures a hassle-free stay. 🍽️☀️
Though the welcome might not include fruit or drinks, the spacious rooms, especially the two-bedroom options, make it ideal for families. The only tiny blip could be the bar, but with everything else 'spot on,' it's a mere afterthought. 🍹👨👩👧👦

I only have 8 hours to transfer in Doha, but I don't want to miss this visa-free country
🇶🇦✨ Many friends choose to transfer in Qatar Doha when going abroad or returning home. If you have more than 6 hours to stay in Doha, you can take a tour in the city. You really shouldn't miss this visa-free country. It would be a pity to just stay in the airport without wandering around the city.
🌃✨ Doha City Tour Route
Qatar National Museum—Souq Waqif traditional market—Damasca one Restaurant—Finally, back to the airport for shopping
🏯✨ Qatar National Museum
Most people come to this museum to see the exquisite architectural design. The facade of the museum is inspired by the desert rose, presenting a flower-like appearance, very much like the petals rising in the wind along the Persian Gulf.
🏡✨ Souq Waqif
Souq Waqif is a colorful, ancient oriental bazaar with dim lighting that makes this traditional Arab market feel slightly mysterious. The old buildings, with their earthy mud-sand texture, are full of a sense of vicissitude. The mottled doorplates and old wooden shop doors add immense charm to the market. The rough traces left by the paint rollers on the mud walls make one feel as if they have traveled back over a hundred years.
🥟✨ Damasca
A well-known restaurant in Souq Waqif, the environment is very nice with a terrace on the second floor. However, it is recommended to stay in an air-conditioned room during summer. The restaurant serves typical Middle Eastern food, with various grilled meats and bread served with chickpea sauce. Be sure to order a glass of lemon mint, this signature drink is really delicious.
✈️✨ Airport
Actually, it's not cheaper than domestic prices. Be sure to reserve enough time to get to the boarding gate, as the airport is very large.
📍✨ Tips:
💰✨ The exchange rate at the airport is quite OK. Be sure to get a one-day phone card. Although you might think roaming is fine while you're in the airport, once you go out, you'll find that having a signal is all down to luck!

Amazing City Tour to Doha, Qatar
#winhkflight
Our flight from Doha to Malaysia was delayed and we decided to join the four hour tour organised by Hamad International Airport during our layover in Doha. The experience was immaculate! The tour was easily accessible and seamless, we board on the bus with other tour mates and the tour guide was professional as well! One of the stop, which was Souq Wadif, Bounded by Al-Souq Street and Grand Hamad Street was amazing! It is located in the heart of Doha, Qatar, and it is a historic marketplace that offers visitors a glimpse of the traditional Arabian culture. The alleys were ancient and unique, bustling vibes with stalls selling spices, textiles, handficrafts, food stores. Such an eye opening experience, would recommend if you ever have a longer transit period in Doha!
I wish to travel to Hong Kong for the food!
Qatar
What kind of country is Qatar? The full name of Qatar is the State of Qatar, an Arab country in Western Asia
with a national per capita income of about 130,000 US dollars, working 4 hours a day
Education and healthcare are free, with no personal income tax
Known as 'half sea, half desert', Qatar is surrounded by sea on three sides, owning the Persian Gulf, with a coastline of 550 kilometers
Here you can see the Pearl on the Persian Gulf - Doha, where there are magical buildings with expensive construction costs, walking along the seaside highway of Doha Port, you will feel as if you have stepped into the world of tomorrow.
Here, there is a perfect fusion of architecture and art
:
The final masterpiece of the world-renowned architect Mr. I. M. Pei, also his magnum opus, the museum adopts typical Islamic geometric patterns and traditional Arab arch windows, collecting various Islamic art pieces from all over the world
: A delicately designed house stands on the sea, like a beautiful art painting, with exhibits of civilization and art from various Middle Eastern countries
Other attractions:
: Qatar's oldest Arab market, originally meaning 'standing market', has a history of over a hundred years, where you can personally experience the local Arab folk customs. Due to the hot weather during the day, most shops will open their doors near sunset, and the whole market will become lively, with many traditional restaurants in the market, most of which will set up tables and chairs directly outside the shop for business, creating a great atmosphere.
The crisscrossing streets are filled with the ancient scent of sandalwood, with a dazzling array of goods, hookahs/water pots/spices/carpets, everything you can think of.
: Known as the Maldives of the Persian Gulf, come to the Anantara Resort on the island to enjoy a luxurious vacation to the fullest!
Qatar's only ultra-five-star hotel with overwater villas
Magical experience:
This is also a paradise for outdoor sports
Half sea, half desert, you can experience the thrill of sand duning and surfing
You can also experience the falconry🦅 activities of the Qatari rich
The Doha Park Hyatt is like stepping into a European street
The afternoon tea and lunch at Anis restaurant are fantastic. Doha is the capital and largest city of Qatar, and also its political, economic, cultural, and transportation center. As a must-visit stop when touring Qatar, the mystery and beauty of this city are beyond imagination. The best season to visit Doha is from November to March of the following year, when Doha is cool and comfortable, with sunny beaches, magnificent deserts, modern art, and historical culture all available.
Located in one of the tallest buildings in the old city, the Doha Park Hyatt has a great view! The common practice of small-scale hotels is to stagger the arrival hall and the front desk lobby floor. Through the winding corridors and secluded courtyards, the Doha Park Hyatt hotel uses a lot of high-saturation colors and floristry, which dilutes the common mysterious and deep feeling in the Middle East, but adds a lot of oriental charm.
The hotel rooms use thick walls and long windows similar to the old city residences. The interior decoration adopts an elegant and simple local style, which also reflects the beautiful hope of the owner responsible for the development and renovation projects of the old city: to interpret traditional culture and community concepts with modern elements, and ultimately achieve the purpose of sustainable development. The hotel's several restaurants and bars are also very good! Especially the street-facing Anis restaurant, whether for afternoon tea or a simple lunch, whether sitting indoors or outdoors, the atmosphere is super great. It feels like stepping into a European street.
You can't miss the top-notch SPA at Banyan Tree Doha~ Also, try the food at Printemps downstairs
Continuing the journey in Qatar, staying at the Banyan Tree Hotel~ The living room, bedroom and bathroom of the suite all face West Bay, with a very nice view! The circular building next to Banyan Tree Doha is Doha Oasis, connected to the high-rise building of Banyan Tree by two glass bridges~ The circle in the middle is Quest, the largest indoor theme park in Qatar, the two layers below the outer ring are Printemps, and the upper layers are apartments, a very creative architectural design!
Banyan Tree Doha is the first Banyan Tree hotel in the Middle East~ Designed by the famous interior designer Jacques Garcia, symbolizing the four elements of life: earth, water, fire and air are the basic concepts of hotel design, the tree of life in the hotel lobby is the first focus of attention for all guests entering the hotel~ There is also a large green garden here, with hundreds of tree species from all over the world planted inside.
Staying at Banyan Tree, of course, you can't miss the SPA~ Especially like the top-notch spa center at Banyan Tree Doha! Banyan Tree Doha not only planted banyan trees in the hotel garden, but also integrated the overall architectural aesthetics of the hotel with modern comfort and traditional calm simplicity, creating a tranquil haven for guests to rejuvenate~ Don't miss staying at Banyan Tree for a few nights when you come to Doha, and don't miss going downstairs to Printemps to have a look and enjoy the food!
Doha W Hotel~ I was amazed by the beautiful Peruvian restaurant COYA in the hotel!
Doha W Hotel is the 11th hotel I stayed in during my trip to Qatar~ It is also the last one of this journey, the hotel is located in West Bay, Doha, Qatar Peninsula, it is the first W Hotel in the Middle East~ Doha W Hotel is like an 'energy transfer' from New York to Qatar: in the center of West Bay, Doha, it is a 'modern fun nest in the city sky', allowing people to overlook the blue Arabian Gulf.
The room I stayed in this time is the hotel's Wow Suite, also known as the Vice Presidential Suite~ The room is full of curves: the living room and bedroom are wrapped in a set of round curtains, the round frames of the desk and bedside table, the Arabic wood on the walls and curtains, and the round chairs~ From every position in these rooms, you can see the waterfront or the constantly evolving skyline of skyscrapers. The several restaurants in Doha W are all very good! But the most amazing one must be COYA Doha Peruvian restaurant, with multiple sections, beautiful design and rich colors, I was immediately amazed when I walked in!
Doha used to be just a small fishing village, but now it has become a golden city full of futuristic buildings, and the twenty-six-story high-rise of Doha W Hotel constitutes one of its shining skylines. Staying in Doha W Hotel, you will still not forget that you are in the Arabian Gulf! The lobby is the place to set the tone of the hotel style. In the lobby of Doha W Hotel, more than 170 lamps are hung, creating a sparkling blue ocean above your head~ When you come to Doha, don't miss W Hotel!
Mandarin Oriental, Doha - The afternoon tea full of atmosphere and ceremonial sense is great!
Mandarin Oriental, Doha is located in the center of Mushreib, Doha, Qatar. This area, with its unique architectural design, has given Doha, an ancient city, a new vitality. It has over 100 buildings, including commercial, residential, real estate, shopping and cultural venues, as well as several entertainment venues, Mushreib Qatar Academy and several hotels including Mandarin Oriental, Doha.
The geographical location of Mandarin Oriental is very superior. While possessing the city's splendid cultural treasures, it has also created a new lifestyle, blending comfort and modern fashion, creating an oasis in the desert. The hotel is not only modern and fashionable, but also cleverly integrates Qatar's unique traditional style, elevating Doha's luxury charm to a new height.
Staying at Mandarin Oriental, Doha, you can feel the warm and comfortable environment, enjoy personalized service, and also enjoy the afternoon tea experience full of atmosphere and ceremonial sense! Although I have eaten the three-course dessert of Michelin dessert shop ChikaLicious Dessert Bar several times, it is the first time to eat a whole set of afternoon tea in three parts like Mandarin Oriental, Doha. First is a set of two-layer savory snacks, then a set of two-layer desserts and a cake that needs to be eaten with saffron cream, and finally a finale dessert. Full of ceremonial sense, it's worth a try!
The vibrant colors and amazing views of the Vice President Suite at the Doha W Hotel made me not want to leave

Doha used to be just a small fishing village, but now it has become a golden city full of futuristic buildings. The 26-story high-rise of the Doha W Hotel is a member of its shiny skyline - 'shiny' is not just an adjective, the hotel building's facade uses 23,000 square meters of glass curtain wall. Staying at the Doha W Hotel, you will not forget that you are in the Arabian Gulf! The lobby is where the hotel's style is established. Over 170 lamps are hung in the lobby of the Doha W Hotel, creating a sparkling blue ocean overhead.

Qatar city tour by Merto
There is no better way to get around the city quicker on a budget! The air-conditioning, speed and timely delivery of service in the metro is by far the best!
Cleanliness is also another thing to take note of. I like how majority of the attractions are a short walk from the metro stations. I definitely fondly enjoy every metro ride, also the fact that it doesn't have a driver is fascinating!
A journey by Qatar Airways
#wecreate
I recently embarked on a voyage from New York to Doha on Qatar Airways. I was eager to experience the airline's renowned service and amenities.
I arrived at the airport early and checked in at the executive class counter. The staff was warm and efficient, and I was swiftly whisked through security and to my gate.
I boarded the plane and was greeted with a warm welcome from the cabin crew. My seat was roomy and comfortable, and I was offered a pre-flight beverage.
The flight attendant also gave me a menu of the food and drinks that would be served during the flight. I chose the beef shawarma, which was delectable.
The flight itself was smooth and comfortable. The cabin crew was attentive and kept us well-hydrated and entertained.
After a few hours, we landed in Doha and I was transferred to my connecting flight to Dubai. Again, I was impressed with the service from Qatar Airways.
Overall, I had a wonderful experience flying Qatar Airways. The airline's service and amenities were first-rate, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and luxurious flight experience.
