#easytravelpost I learned this lesson in Dubai after staying out late to watch the Dubai Fountain near Dubai Mall. I hadn’t planned to stay as late as I did, so I wasn’t thinking much about the journey back to my accommodation. When I finally headed towards the Dubai Mall Metro Station, I discovered that the trains I needed in the direction of Dubai Marina had already stopped running. I checked the buses too, but the services I could use had also finished. I suddenly had a much bigger transport problem than I expected. I eventually had to rethink my way back instead of simply taking the public transport route I had planned earlier. It was frustrating because the evening itself had been great—I just hadn’t planned for what would happen after the transport network started shutting down. Since then, I always check the last practical metro/bus connection before going out at night, especially if I’m going somewhere far from my accommodation. I also check the taxi option before leaving, so I know what my backup is if I stay out later. My easy-travel rule: before staying out late in Dubai, check how you’re getting back—not just how you’re getting there.

Riding a 4x4 into the boundless desert, the orange-red sunset spreads over the dunes, the evening breeze sweeps across the sand sea, delicate and gentle. Every snapshot looks like wallpaper-worthy art, unlocking the grand romance unique to the Middle East.
