My Visit to Sarah P. Duke Gardens
My visit to Sarah P. Duke Gardens was a relaxing and beautiful experience. The garden is divided into several sections, each offering a wonderful diversity of plants, ranging from serene Japanese gardens to spaces filled with colorful flowers. I enjoyed walking along the quiet paths surrounded by various trees and plants, feeling like I was in a natural oasis in the middle of the city. The park also provides comfortable seating for meditation and relaxation, making it ideal for picnics or quiet time. The service was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. Lucky strike factory!
North Carolina has a tobacco factory, Lucky Strike.
It's called the Tobacco Campus, and it's lit up at night!
There's a small museum-like area, but the main attractions are shops and bars!
It's nice to go on a nice day, but I recommend going at night when it's lit up!
There's a soccer field right next to it, so you can hear the cheers lol
Please go and see it!

🎓 I saw a prestigious American campus in person… Duke University has a different atmosphere.
#MarchTravelEvent
Duke University, a campus that left an impression on me during my trip to the eastern United States.
This prestigious private university, located in Durham, North Carolina, is immediately striking for its Gothic-style architecture. The chapel, in particular, is even more impressive in person than in photos. The campus itself is spacious and well-maintained, like a park, making it a great place for a stroll.
The well-kept lawns and trees create a relaxed atmosphere, even while providing a place for study. The students are also free and energetic, giving the entire campus a vibrant energy.
Tourists are relatively free to visit, making it a great addition to a campus tour or a leisurely stroll. It's a place where you can experience the open and relaxed atmosphere typical of American universities firsthand.

📚A Daily Stroll Around Duke University | Library, Maple Leaves, and a Happy Mood!
Hahaha I really have become a super happy person on the beautiful campus of Duke University! 🍂 Walking under the shadows of trees every day, thinking while walking, the mood is so beautiful ~
And halfway through, I went into the Duke University Library and found some of my favorite journals and books, which is really a small feeling📖. The library is quiet and comfortable. While reading a book, you can look out the window at the maple leaves. The gradient colors and wooden desktops make you look like you're taking a picture every minute.
This time I stayed at Duke University Inn, 502 Elf St. The biggest selling point of the hotel is that it is super close to the campus, next door is already the hospital and some sports fields, theaters, both hipster style and sports enthusiasts are perfect! And there is a free shuttle to take you to the campus no hassle - the room is clean and tidy, the comfort is excellent, the staff are very nice and Chinese service, for the first time to Durham friends super courteous.
If you have the chance to experience the full human atmosphere and natural beauty of Duke University, you will be transformed into a happy little angel👼🏻!

The Water Garden, Tranquility in the Flow of Time
#NovemberTravelGrant #WaterGarden #Peace #SoundsOfNature
The Water Garden, a key element of Sarah P. Duke Gardens, is a peaceful space where the sounds of waterfalls and small streams serve as background music. In November, the water flow is even more clearly audible, offering not only visual beauty but also auditory healing. The Water Garden was designed to take advantage of the natural slope of the terrain, and the cascading waterfalls create a dynamic yet tranquil scene. Aquatic plants surround the water, but in late autumn, the main attraction is the fallen leaves and the sparkling water. Crossing the wooden bridge to the sound of the water or sitting on a bench near the water's edge can be a soothing experience. This is the perfect place for those who want to forget their worries and stresses and simply relax in harmony with nature's rhythm. We hope you'll use your #NovemberTravelSupport to experience true peace in the tranquil and vibrant water gardens of late autumn.

These works of art stand out against the garden's verdant backdrop, offering visitors a chance to consider the relationship between nature and art from a variety of perspectives. In November, as the leaves fall and the landscape clears, these outdoor sculptures become even more striking. H.L. Blomquist Native Plant Garden, A Place for Late Autumn Ecological Learning
#NovemberTravelGrant #NativePlantGarden #QuietWalk #EnvironmentalConservation
In contrast to the other vibrant areas of the Sarah P. Duke Garden, the H.L. Blomquist Native Plant Garden is the quietest and most educational space. A visit here in November offers more than just viewing the fall foliage; it offers a deeper understanding of the unique ecosystems and plant life cycles of the Piedmont region of North America. In late autumn, the Native Plant Garden offers the allure of seeds, dried stems, and evergreens with their distinctive textures, rather than the vibrant colors. Here, you can focus on the forms and structures of plants that are often overlooked during the peak flowering season. The trails lead deep into the forest, creating a peaceful atmosphere where the only sound is the crunch of fallen leaves. I found true healing in this tranquility. This area, in particular, features a space dedicated to preserving and researching endangered local plants, fostering a deeper understanding of the preciousness of nature and the importance of its preservation. If you're visiting with children, the plant name tags can serve as a living ecological textbook. I felt that the calm, contemplative atmosphere of November perfectly suited this native botanical garden. For travelers seeking to utilize their #NovemberTravelSupport and escape the bustle of the city and truly connect with nature, I highly recommend this quiet forest path. There's no better place to enjoy solitary contemplation.

The Sky Reflected in the Pond: The Serenity of Virtue Peace Pond
#NovemberTravelSupport #PondReflection #Serenity #Peace
Virtue Peace Pond, as its name suggests, offers tranquility and peace. When the clear blue sky of November perfectly reflects on the pond's surface, the sight creates an optical illusion, as if two worlds are merging. Benches are placed around the pond, allowing visitors to pause and admire this peaceful scene. Although most of the surrounding flowers have fallen in late autumn, the lush trees surrounding the pond are softly tinted with yellow and brown, adding a calming and warm tone. I visited early in the morning and witnessed the pond lightly covered in mist, creating a mystical atmosphere that was indescribable. The sight of ducks and geese leisurely gliding across the water offers a sense of relaxation. This is the perfect place to pause from your busy thoughts, listen to the sounds of nature, and meditate. If you're looking for a quiet and peaceful time at the end of autumn, I highly recommend taking your #NovemberTravelSupport and sitting on the bench by the pond here. You'll feel peace permeating deep within you.

Evergreens at Duke Gardens, Even in Late Autumn
#NovemberTravelGrant #Evergreens #WinterPreparation #GreenShelter
While many trees shed their leaves in November, the evergreens of Sarah P. Duke Gardens play a vital role in bringing life to the late autumn landscape. A variety of green evergreens, particularly around the Doris Duke Center Garden and deep within the Asian Arboretum, are lush and vibrant. This green provides a stunning contrast between the red and yellow leaves, enriching the garden's colors. Even in the chilly November winds, the evergreens remain vibrant, demonstrating nature's resilience as it prepares for the coming winter. When you're tired from walking, standing beneath the tall evergreens feels like stepping into a small forest, warm and cozy. This green shelter offers comfort and rejuvenation to weary travelers. In this evergreen area, I felt the unwavering power of nature, unwavering even through the changing seasons. If you're looking to explore the vibrant greenery of late autumn, use your #NovemberTravelSupport to stroll through the evergreen forests of Duke Gardens. The 'Pergola,' a grand arched pathway surrounding the Doris Duke Center Garden, is a place where you can fully immerse yourself in the romantic atmosphere of November. In summer, lush climbing plants provide cool shade by blocking the sunlight, but in November, as the leaves fall, golden sunlight streams fantastically along the pathway. The shadow patterns cast between the arch structures change with every step, offering visitors a unique visual delight. Particularly between 3 PM and 4 PM, when the sun is low, the shadows are at their longest and most dramatic, making it the perfect time to capture stunning photos. This romantic space is ideal for couples or friends to stroll together, and it's also a great spot for a quiet, contemplative walk. Walking here, I felt as if I had been invited to the garden of an old European palace. The serene November air combined with the warm sunlight enveloping the pathway creates an unforgettable experience. If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and enjoy a peaceful and romantic walk, the Pergola Pathway is a must-visit destination.

A Quiet Morning at Duke Garden: The Perfect Time for a Stroll
#NovemberTravelSupport #MorningWalk #QuietHealing #FreshAir
The best time to enjoy Duke Garden in November is early morning. By visiting at opening time, you can savor the tranquility and fresh air before the crowds arrive. The chill of late autumn mornings gives way to a refreshing breeze, and the light mist rising over the pond and dewdrops clinging to the grass add a dreamy atmosphere to the garden. As the morning sun begins to shine from the east, the crimson hues of the maple forest come alive, offering a joyous start to the day. I found that a morning walk refreshed my mind and recharged my energy. The quiet environment, especially the rustle of leaves, the chirping of birds, and the sound of flowing water, allows me to focus on the natural sounds, providing a truly healing experience. While the days are shorter in November, those brief moments of sunlight in the morning feel even more precious. If you're looking to take advantage of the November Travel Grant and enjoy a leisurely trip, be sure to visit Duke Gardens early in the morning for a peaceful stroll.

Sarah P. Duke Gardens offers delights for visitors of all ages, but the Charlotte Brody Discovery Garden is especially perfect for families. This educational garden is designed to encourage children to experience and learn about nature with all their senses. Even in November, crops can be harvested late into the season, and a variety of activities showcase the process of preparing for winter, stimulating children's curiosity. Beyond simply seeing, children become more connected to nature through hands-on experiences like touching the soil, smelling the plants, and listening to the sounds of nature. The spacious lawns and safely designed walking paths provide ample space for children to run and play, while parents can relax and watch their children safely explore nature. It was a truly meaningful experience to learn about the value of nature with my children in the crisp late autumn air. Tips for Avoiding Peak Foliage Season
A Relaxing Late Autumn Visit
Sarah P. Duke Gardens becomes extremely crowded during the peak foliage season from late October to early November. However, when I visited in mid-November, it was the perfect 'golden time' to avoid the peak crowds while still enjoying the beautiful late autumn scenery. Although most of the leaves had fallen, the remaining ones displayed deeper and richer colors, and the carpet of fallen leaves on the ground created another breathtaking view. Most importantly, the biggest advantage was the 'tranquility.' At the popular photo spot, the Meyer Bridge, I could take as many photos as I wanted without waiting in line, and I could sit on a quiet bench to enjoy some uninterrupted contemplation. For travelers who dislike the stress of crowded places, I highly recommend visiting after mid-November. While the weather might be a bit chilly, dressing warmly and enjoying a leisurely stroll can provide the ultimate healing experience. If you're looking for true 'rest' and 'relaxation,' don't miss this time of year.

Conservation Efforts at Duke Gardens, a Living Plant Research Institute
#NovemberTravelGrant #PlantConservation #ResearchInstitute #EducationalValue
Sarah P. Duke Gardens is more than just a park; it's a significant plant research and conservation institution affiliated with Duke University. A visit to the gardens in late November reveals the conservation and research efforts behind its stunning beauty. The native plant garden, in particular, boasts a systematic system for protecting rare and endangered plants from the Piedmont region. Detailed plant information tags placed throughout the gardens provide visitors with educational information, allowing them to naturally acquire botanical knowledge as they walk. While November is a time for plants to rest, I felt a surge of research and preparation for the next season. Gardens where beauty and scientific purpose coexist so harmoniously are rare. For intellectual travelers seeking not only aesthetic pleasure but also an understanding of the importance of nature conservation and ecological knowledge, Duke Gardens is an ideal learning experience.

A Lush Bamboo Forest Path, Exotic Atmosphere
#NovemberTravelGrant #BambooForest #ExoticAtmosphere #QuietSounds
Deep within the Culberson Asian Arboretum lies a lush bamboo forest path, offering visitors an exotic and mystical atmosphere. Even in November, when other trees shed their leaves, the bamboo remains lush and vibrant, adding a uniquely refreshing feel to the garden. As you walk through the bamboo forest, the wind rustles through the leaves, creating a wonderful, soothing natural background music. This sound contrasts starkly with the noise of the city, offering visitors a moment of deep meditation. The bamboo's straight trunks and distinctive blue hue exude an oriental aesthetic, and together with the Meyer Bridge, they create an exotic atmosphere. Walking through this forest path, I felt as if I had been transported to an ancient Japanese capital. For travelers seeking a unique and exotic experience rarely encountered with the #NovemberTravelSupport, this bamboo forest path will offer a new sense of vitality. One of the unmissable pleasures of visiting Sarah P. Duke Gardens is relaxing at the Terrace Cafe, located inside the Doris Duke Center. A warm beverage is the ultimate comfort on a chilly November day. The cafe's greatest charm lies in its panoramic views of the gardens, whether you're seated through the floor-to-ceiling windows or on the outdoor terrace. The late autumn foliage, especially, blanketing the Center Garden, makes you feel as if you're sipping tea in a painting. For photography enthusiasts, 3 PM in November at the Sarah P. Duke Gardens is a magical hour. During late autumn, when the sun sits low in the sky, the long and soft shadows cast by the sunlight create a dramatic atmosphere throughout the gardens. Particularly, the golden sunlight streaming through the expansive lawns of the Doris Duke Center or the dense trees of the Asiatic Arboretum transforms everything into a work of art. If you visit the pond near the Meyer Bridge during this time, you can witness the sunlight reflecting off the water, creating a sparkling effect, while the autumn foliage displays its richest hues. While the once-showy petals have faded, small red and black fruits hang from the branches, richly filling the garden with color. Particularly in the native plant garden area, seed pods and dried flowers of various shapes form intriguing structures, reminding us of the tenacity of plants and the natural cycle. These fruits serve as food for birds, maintaining a vital link in the ecosystem. A closer look reveals the wisdom of plants, each carrying out its mission to preserve their species in a unique way. White Garden, the elegance and calm of monotone
#NovemberTravelGrant #WhiteGarden #Monotone #ElegantDesign
The Page-Rollins White Garden, located within the Doris Duke Center Gardens, exudes a special charm even in November. True to its name, the garden is comprised solely of plants with white flowers and silver-gray leaves, showcasing an elegant and calming monotone beauty rather than a vibrant display of color. While the number of flowers has decreased due to late autumn, the structural beauty created by the diverse textures and forms of the white and silver plants remains impressive. The White Garden is especially striking on cloudy November days, when the white flowers mysteriously stand out in the gentle mist, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. This is a contemplative space where you can escape the complexities of color and focus on pure form and texture. Sitting on a bench and gazing at this monotone garden, you may feel as if even your mind is being cleansed of distracting thoughts. Garden Stone Walls and Stairs, Intricate Landscape Design
#NovemberTravelGrant #LandscapeDesign #StoneWalls #ThePowerofDetail
Another element I was struck by while strolling through Sarah P. Duke Garden was the meticulously placed stone walls, stairs, and stone structures throughout. The garden is divided into several sections, and these are seamlessly connected by stone walls and stairs, crafted by skilled artisans. The stone steps in the Asian Arboretum, in particular, bear the marks of centuries, adding a sense of antiquity. These stone walls are not simply boundaries; they prevent soil erosion, protect plants, and serve as important aesthetic elements of the garden's design. The harmonious blend of the well-trimmed stones and the surrounding plants enhances the garden's overall aesthetic. Thanks to these meticulous details, even amidst the bare branches of November, the garden retains a rich and three-dimensional appearance. Duke Garden is a place where one can appreciate not only the beauty of nature but also the artistic work of human hands in landscape design.
