Tasmania in 6 Days: I’ve Covered All the Highlights!
If you only have 6 days, here’s how I’d explore Tasmania 💙— experiencing all the best spots in one go!
No need to rush around every day or agonize over which attractions to skip. This itinerary covers the highlights of both the north and south, islands, wildlife, historical sites, and more, offering the most relaxing way to enjoy Tasmania.
🌊 Day 1-2 | Hobart + Bruny Island
Start your vacation mode as soon as you land! Take a boat to Bruny Island, where you can enjoy freshly shucked oysters, visit the honey farm, chocolate factory, and soak in the scenic views of Adventure Bay. Return to Hobart in the evening and stroll around Salamanca Place to savor the romantic vibe of this charming port city.
🦘 Day 3 | Maria Island
This place feels like a real-life animal paradise! You don’t even need to search for them—kangaroos, wombats, geese, and various wildlife will naturally wander into your camera frame 📸.
🏛️ Day 4 | Port Arthur + Tasman Peninsula
In addition to the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of Port Arthur Historic Site, the Tasman Peninsula’s natural wonders left me in awe. The Tasman Arch, Tessellated Pavement, and Blowhole are all masterpieces sculpted by nature. Standing on the cliffs, you’ll be mesmerized by the waves and breathtaking scenery.
🏔️ Day 5 | Cradle Mountain National Park
If there’s one place that represents Tasmania, it’s Cradle Mountain. Dove Lake is as serene as a sapphire, and walking along the trails, you’ll breathe in the fresh forest air. On clear days, the mountains, lake, and reflections create a picture-perfect view that looks like a desktop wallpaper.
🌌 Day 6 | Stanley + Aurora Bonus
End your trip in Stanley by visiting the iconic "The Nut" rock formation, offering panoramic views of the coastal town. If you’re lucky, you can join an aurora viewing tour (extra cost) at night. Witnessing the Southern Lights in person will be an unforgettable memory for a lifetime ✨.
The best part of this itinerary is that it’s not rushed, yet it covers all of Tasmania’s must-see spots. Islands, food, wildlife, national parks, world heritage sites, coastal wonders, and even a chance to chase the aurora—every day brings new surprises.
If it’s your first time visiting Tasmania and you’re unsure how to plan your trip, this 6-day itinerary is perfect to follow 🙌
