The intricate mosaic tiles decorating this gate will be one of your first tastes of Fez’s exquisite craftsmanship. As you step into the medina, you’ll immediately be transported back in time. I started in #Marrakesh, where I explored the Ben Youssef Madrasa and enjoyed a coffee experience at Bacha Coffee an elegant, aromatic, and worth the hype. BUT warning, the queue may be long. Marrakesh itself can feel overwhelming at first, the medina is hectic and chaotic, but it’s also bursting with life, colors, and history. If you’re an introvert like me, brace yourself: your social battery will drain faster than your phone GPS. 😆 Next, I joined a 3-day desert tour from Marrakesh to Fes, passing through Ben Haddou (a UNESCO site famous for its desert fortifications) and spending a night in the Sahara Desert. The camel ride at sunset was absolutely magical, quiet, vast, and surreal. The desert experience was easily the highlight of my Morocco journey. In Fes, I visited the Tannery and the Bou Inania Madrasa, both fascinating glimpses into Morocco’s craft and history. The old medina here feels more authentic and less touristy than Marrakesh. Learn to say “no” or “la” (in Arabic) politely but firmly. The street vendors and guides can be persistent. 3. Cash is king! many places don’t take cards. 4. Plan for downtime! After Marrakesh or Fes, give yourself a slower day in Chefchaouen or the desert to reset. 5. And most importantly: embrace the chaos. Even if some places can be a bit clean, remember that the old town has many many years and they have kept as it was. I loved walking around the markets and the little shops. There are many artisans working and they are very open to show you how they do. I also enjoy the best Couscous from my trip in Morocco. If you decided to visit it, I will suggest to spend two days. Despide the fact that the old time looks a bit messy, you can book an incredible Riad with all the amenities for a very good price, morrocan breakfast include it! I can’t wait to be back 😊

Blue gate also known as Bab Boujeloud was built in 1913, is one of the entry points to the fes medina. The side facing the medina is green in color ( the color of Islam ). Chez Maimonide is about less than 50 meters from the blue gate, which is a chinese cuisine restaurant which is opened and cooked by the chinese. One of the owners named Jason, a friendly polite guy. I had ordered a beef fried noodle and camel meat chinese dumplings, while waiting for the foods, you can use their free WIFI provided. Jason also passed a booklet that was written by some guests of their experience during their holiday in Morocco and the phone showed me the places to visit during my days in Fes.( in chinese ) The noodle was served first ( large portion) not too oily and the camel dumplings served the meat inside was juicy, be careful when you bite, the sauce inside will spill out.
