The sunset in Santorini is a unique romance of the Aegean Sea
📍Greece, Santorini
Although Santorini has been heavily criticized by tourists, with many warning posts, we were still amazed on our first visit to Santorini. Whether it's the scenery or the service facilities, it surpasses all the 'little Santorinis'. This blue and white domed architectural complex built along the mountain has not yet found a city or town that can replace it.
‼️However, the shortcomings of Santorini must also be mentioned:
1. The public bus system is very chaotic, and the timetable is not integrated into Google Maps. However, you can get a paper timetable as soon as you get off the plane, which is generally accurate, with a margin of error of 10 minutes early or late. At popular attractions like Fira and Oia, you won't miss the bus. The roads are dusty, and people drive recklessly, making it unfriendly for non-self-driving tourists.
2. Accommodation in Fira and Oia is generally expensive, with restaurants offering good views costing at least 50💶 per person.
3. It's hot and sunny!
💡In summary, here is a suitable itinerary for summer and some photo spots:
1️⃣ Around 9 am, take Bus 10 from Santorini Bus Stop in Fira to Oia, which takes about 25 minutes.
2️⃣ The classic angle in Oia is the Picturesque Blue Dome Santorini (p12). In the afternoon, it's backlit, and around 11 am, you can take a photo after waiting for about 10 minutes. Walk along the main road of the town to the Windmill of Oia, which is a photo spot for the windmill. Both are in Oia.
3️⃣ Have lunch in Oia and take the bus back to Fira around 14:20.
4️⃣ It's recommended to rest at your accommodation until around 19:00 before going out. The light is good at that time, and the temperature has dropped. Fira itself is not very big.
5️⃣ Half an hour before sunset, you can walk to the I Love Santorini area, where the whole road is lined with sunset viewing platforms.
6️⃣ After sunset, you can slowly walk along the road to Viewpoint Fira at night, where the lights gradually come on during the blue hour.
7️⃣ Walk to the Santorini Cable Car - Upper Station, and it will be completely dark by then.
💡Here are two more photo spots where you can capture the sunset with the blue-domed church:
1. Three Bells of Fira iconic viewpoint
2. View point (Top view)
Both are a bit far, so consider accordingly.

Freshly made quality meal at Taverna Simos!
#familytrips2024
Taverna Simos
Address: 25is Martiou, Thira 847 00, Santorini Greece
Located in the village of Firostefani, Taverna Simos was one of the better quality and value for money restaurants recommended by the boutique hotel I had stayed in. This is a family-run Greek restaurant with a great selection ranging from simple local appetizers, fresh seafood and grill, and barreled wine. Food was freshly prepared upon order, and indeed my chicken grill portion was big with a reasonable price. Food is delicious 😋 and one of my favorites during the whole trip. I love the greenery decor in the restaurant too.
Fira santorini 🇬🇷
#cherryblossom2024
Fira, Santorini was a dream destination for my spring vacation! 🌸 This picturesque town, perched on the edge of the caldera, offered stunning views of the Aegean Sea and the iconic whitewashed buildings that Santorini is famous for. While there's no entrance fee to explore Fira itself, you'll find plenty of attractions to keep you busy. I spent my days wandering through the charming streets, lined with boutique shops, art galleries, and quaint cafes. #ShoppingSpree and #CafeCulture at its finest! Nearby, the Archaeological Museum of Thera provided insights into the island's rich history, while the cable car offered a scenic ride down to the Old Port, where you can catch a boat to the nearby volcanic islands. Plus, don't miss the chance to witness the breathtaking sunset from the cliffs of Fira, a truly magical experience! Fira stole my heart with its beauty and charm, leaving me with memories to last a lifetime! 🏝️🇬🇷
SANTORINI IS GOOD ANY SEASON!
I have always loved coming into this island during low season. It is a lot more peaceful / quieter.
Explore the various beaches and villages.
Go to their local festivals and events. Santorini is an island full of colors & rich traditional culture.
Give yourself time to explore this place, stay into various hotels on different areas, every view is different 💙 The longest I've been into Santorini was 3 months. ( Aug - Nov)
