Enjoy the beaches in Freeport
Freeport is one of the biggest cities in the Bahamas, located on Grand Bahama Island. Many tourists come here on a stop during their Caribbean cruise.
When you think of the Bahamas, beach life will be the first thing that comes to mind. And indeed in Freeport you can enjoy stunning beaches, blue waters and lots of sunshine.
You can visit Xanadu Beach, East Palm Beach or Bahama Princess Beach for a nice relaxing afternoon. At most of these beaches you can take part in water activities like diving, parasailing and surfing. Or go to Lucaya Beach which is close to the Lucaya Market where you can buy all kinds of souvenirs to take home.

Garden of the Groves, Bahamas
If you find yourself in Freeport in the Bahamas, you can of course spend the day by the beach. However, there is more to the island than just the beaches. The Garden of the Groves would be a perfect place to spend a few hours.
The Garden of the Groves is a botanical garden showcasing all kinds of tropical plants, from palm trees to wild flowers. The trees will give you some shade to protect against the sun. Dotted around the garden are little ponds and a few hills. One of the hills has an old church on top as well.
Besides plants you can also find plenty of wildlife attracted to the flowers. There are loads of birds around. I even saw a hummingbird.
Location: Midshipman Rd. and Magellan Dr, Freeport
Opening hours: daily from 9:00 to 16:00
Entrance fee: $17

Garden of the Groves - A Serene Oasis in Freeport - A Must-Visit for Nature Lovers!

During my recent vacation to Grand Bahama Island from Toronto, I stumbled upon the Garden of the Groves, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip! If you're a nature enthusiast or simply looking for a peaceful retreat, this place is an absolute gem.
One of the best parts was the guided tour. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and had a genuine passion for the flora and fauna of the island. I learned so much about the native plants and the efforts being made to preserve this natural haven.
After the tour, I took a stroll on my own, which was equally enjoyable. The garden is designed to offer plenty of quiet spots where you can sit, relax, and soak in the serene surroundings. It’s a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Overall, the Garden of the Groves is a must-visit when in Freeport. It's a testament to the natural beauty of the Bahamas and a wonderful place to relax, learn, and connect with nature. Whether you're traveling solo, with family, or with friends, you'll find something to love here.

A small botanical garden on the Big Island, a popular secret
We drove all the way to this botanical garden and didn't see many people on the way. We did see about 10 tourists in the botanical garden. This is a rare sight on the island. There are more ducks and turtles in the botanical garden than people. It's a very special little garden, and the kids are more interested in feeding the turtles and ducks. They've never seen so many turtles swimming freely in the water before...
If you're vacationing in Freeport, Bahamas, this botanical garden is a must-see. It's one of the few places where you can learn about Bahamian history, like the Garden Cafe at The Garden of the Groves. [Facepalm]
Tickets are USD 12 per person, and fish food is USD 1 per bag. Parking is free, and the garden is open from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Taino beach Bahamas
Taino beach resort was amazing we had a great time we went on a keep cruise #beachlife #mytravelhacks #freehotelstay #familytrip Great price and lots of fun. It appears as though they're in the process of renovations so some parts of the property are a little dated than others, but if you don't mind the retro 90s look you'll love it. I personally enjoyed myself and had a great time enjoying all the festivities at the resort as well as off the resort. The food is good and the sites are beautiful.

A very nice beach
The most beautiful beach on Grand Bahama Island. Take a morning walk to watch the sunrise or evening walk to watch the sunset.

Like a Painting
I went to Bahama Islands (freeport) and I have visited Grand Lucayan Resort which is the cheapest excursion offered on our cruise. Thankfully it did not disappoint me. They have infinity pool and nipa hut cabana that are so beautiful. The beach by far the cleanest beach I have ever been. Sand is like a powder! I am so inlove. I will definitely come back here again!
