Located in the northeastern part of Heilongjiang Province and the south bank of the Songhua River, Fujin City is the central city of the hinterland of the Sanjiang Plain. It has a total area of 8,227 square kilometers and a population of 469,000 (2013). Fujin is a national first-class open port city with railways, highways and waterways. The key grain production and sugar beet bases in Heilongjiang Province, with a total grain output of 3.07 billion jin, is one of the 100 grain-producing counties in the country.
