Avoid the crowds during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays! These 4 slow cities are so comfortable you'll want to extend your stay.
With an 8-day holiday, I didn't want to be surrounded by crowds at popular tourist spots, but I also wanted everyone, young and old, to have a comfortable trip. So I specifically chose four lesser-known cities with a slower pace, less rushing, and convenient accommodations and dining options.
They have mountains and lakes, forests and seas, ancient castles and river views—there's something for everyone in the family! 😌
✨First Stop Zhaoqing

Dinghu Mountain is enveloped in a sea of forests, with negative oxygen ions so high it feels like your lungs are being cleansed.
The roads are shaded by trees, and you can wade in the water at Feishuitan. Qingyun Temple has a tranquil atmosphere, making for a very relaxing stroll.
Seven Star Crags, with its karst peaks nestled in a clear lake, is known as "Little Guilin."
If you don't want to walk, take a sightseeing bus around the lake or a boat trip to explore the caves.
The sunset over the peaks in the evening makes for stunning photos.
The ancient Song Dynasty city wall is located in the city center. Take an evening stroll and climb the wall.
Enjoy the evening breeze and watch the night market fireworks below the city wall. The Mid-Autumn Festival moon hanging over the corner of the city wall creates a special atmosphere.
🗓️Itinerary
