You can always share a car with others to save on the trip; there are many tourists, so finding companions is not a problem. 🍔FOOD Armenia offers delicious, affordable food with large portions. Thin lavash bread and a plate of pickles and fresh greens are often served for free with hot dishes. ✔️ The most popular dishes include: khorovats—Armenian barbecue, gata—a pie with a sweet filling often eaten as a snack, khash—a rich soup made from cow's feet, khashlama—boiled beef with potatoes, onions, and tomatoes, dolma, qutab, and fermented dairy drinks like ayran and matsun. Freshly squeezed pomegranate juice is always available on the streets of Yerevan. ‼️IMPORTANT ✔️ Armenia has many ancient churches, and I was surprised that you can enter them without covering your head or legs—tourists are allowed to enter like this. These are probably the only churches where I entered wearing shorts (as seen in the photos). When I asked a priest about it, he said: "You have come to God's temple; how could I not let you in?" I also saw the priest having conversations with children and teenagers—not boring lectures, but engaging games through which he introduced them to the monastery and the customs of the faithful. ✔️ I admired how locals honor their faith—visiting churches and monasteries. I observed baptisms and weddings in the churches (a couple came from the USA specifically to get married in their homeland). Many Armenians say that even if they don't live in Armenia, they make it a point to visit the monasteries at least once a year.

The rocks are unbelievably shaped and you can walk between them or in some places even stand under them. It has a beautiful name - “The Symphiney of stones” because of the similarity to the organ, a musical instrument. In the end of the walk there is a small cafe for your break. Note that the road to reach that place is not good enough, so once you are visiting Garni, it will be on your way not far enough, don’t skip it!

Garni Temple is located about 30 kilometers east of Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. It is a rare example of a Greek-style classical temple ruin. Built around the 1st century AD by order of Armenian King Tiridates I, it is said that the builders were craftsmen who returned from Rome with the king. Originally, it was a Zoroastrian temple dedicated to the sun god Mihr. The temple features an Ionic column structure with 24 stone columns, each about 6.54 meters tall, symbolizing the 24 hours of a day. The interior space is small, accommodating only about 20 people, and local musicians still play the traditional duduk instrument inside. After Christianity became the state religion in the 4th century, the temple was spared from destruction due to royal intervention and was converted into a summer palace. It was destroyed in the 1679 earthquake and was reconstructed between 1969 and 1975 under the leadership of architect Alexander Sahinyan with Soviet support, reusing many original stones while new parts were clearly distinguished by light gray stone. Next to the temple are the ruins of an ancient Roman bathhouse, where the ground preserves a famous Greek mosaic inscription: "We labor, but gain nothing." Today, the temple is an important spiritual site for the native Armenian faith Hetanism, with ancient ceremonies such as the Fire God Vahagn Festival held annually.
