If you talk about traveling in India, one of the cities that is very easy to get to is Bodh Gaya, Bihar, which has many Thai temples and Naya Chat temples. It is one of the destinations for pilgrims who come to pay homage to the Bodhi tree, the Bodhi tree where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. For some people, they may be afraid of finding a place to stay here, both in terms of food and accommodation. We recommend the 5-star Marasa Sarovar Premiere hotel. The accommodation we stayed at was booked with breakfast and dinner, which was very worthwhile because the food was buffet for both meals. But… none of the food had pork. Most of it was chicken, and there was some fish, since people here don’t eat pork. They also served Indian-style butter, milk, and yogurt. We didn’t eat much for breakfast, so we focused on coffee, bread, and boiled eggs to fill us up. For dinner, we recommend Basmati rice, which is Indian-style steamed rice. There are quite a variety of dinner dishes, but what we really liked were Tikka Masala, Chicken Curry, and Tandoori Chicken. Satay chicken tastes delicious. Eat like Thai people, scoop the white bass and pour it over rice. You can also add some soup. Every day, there are changes. Desserts, fruits and salads are served unlimitedly. I think it's worth it. Room rate + buffet breakfast and dinner We went during the Dalai Lama's visit, so there were a lot of people. And the hotel is quite expensive. Normally, it's 2,500-3,500 baht per person, but when we went, it was 7,000 baht per person. As for the room, I would say it's very spacious. There's a sitting area, you can sit and eat and order food. The bed, bedding, pillows and blankets are very good. The linen is comfortable to wrap around. You can sleep very comfortably. The mattress is soft, not too hard or too soft. You can sleep comfortably and don't get back pain. The bathroom is large, there's no bathtub, but the water flows very strongly. The hot water is excellent. The amenities provided are complete, such as shampoo, shower cream, lotion, liquid soap and hair dryer. We were very impressed. This was my 4.5th trip to India, and I found that India has changed a lot, both in terms of new places and management systems. Therefore, I'd like to summarize the information to share, which will be useful for friends who are planning a trip (both independently and in a group). 📍 1. New "Must-See" Landmarks (2026) 🏛️ Svarved Mahamandir @ Varanasi · Information: If you go to Varanasi, in addition to taking a boat trip on the Ganges River, you must set aside time to visit this place. It is the largest meditation temple in the world (7 stories), accommodating 20,000 people. The sandstone carvings are beautiful and magnificent. · Getting there: It's a bit outside Varanasi (Umaraha area). I recommend hiring a car. 🛕 Ram Mandir @ Ayodhya · Information: It's now complete. It's stunningly beautiful, entirely constructed of pink sandstone. It is a spiritual center for Hindus throughout the country. The atmosphere is vibrant and filled with immense faith. · Recommendation: Security is very strict. Allow extra time for security checks and baggage deposits. 🏗️ Buddha Samyak Darshan Stupa @ Vaishali · Information: It's not just the old brick ruins anymore. There is now a new stone stupa built to enshrine the relics of the Buddha (part of a Lichchavi king). It's a very majestic new landmark. 🇳🇵 Ramagrama Stupa @ Nepal · Information: The only stupa that has not yet been excavated (according to the legend of the Naga). There is currently a major development project of the surrounding area by world-renowned architects. If you like unseen places or appreciate raw, original beauty, hurry and visit now. 🛠️ 2. Infrastructure Update (Logistics Update) · Roads: The condition of the main roads between the pilgrimage sites has improved. • Save time and get less tired on long drives. · Restrooms: Public restrooms at gas stations are becoming more standard (acceptable, not scary), but for guaranteed cleanliness, I recommend the "Thai temples" in each city (they are truly an oasis for Thai people). · Cable car: A cable car is under construction at Donggasiri Hill (the place of asceticism) and will open soon, making it easier for elderly people to go up and pay their respects. ⚠️ 3. Things to know for independent travelers (Tips & Tricks) 💸 Finances (Money Matters): "Cash is king." · Although you'll see QR codes posted in every shop in India, their UPI system "does not yet support Thai banking apps." · Recommendation: It's best to carry "cash (rupees)" with you. It covers all expenses and solves any on-the-spot problems. · Travel Cards: Can only be used in large shops or souvenir shops in tourist areas (e.g., near the Thai Bhumipala Temple in Bodh Gaya). 📡 Internet (Connectivity): "Roaming is the answer." · For routes that require crossing borders... For India and Nepal, it's recommended to buy a roaming package from Thailand beforehand. · Advantages: Continuous signal when crossing the Sonoli border, saving you the hassle of searching for a new SIM card (which is very difficult for tourists to activate in India). 🛍️ Shopping: · The best place to buy souvenirs and easily bargain is "Bodh Gaya". · Before buying large items like fabric or souvenirs, "check the price on Shopee/Lazada first" (many items are imported from the same sources; you might even find it cheaper to buy online than to carry them yourself).
