2024 Geneva Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
Geneva is to Protestantism what Rome is to Catholicism. The Swiss city is the country's second most populous, and is famed for playing host to many international organizations and committees -- the International Committee of the Red Cross, the European base of the UN and the World Health Organization. Like many of Europe’s other well-known cities, Geneva's museums, parks and excellent cuisine aren’t hard to come by in this stately city. St. Pierre’s Cathedral is one towering example of religious-inspired ingenuity that decorates the Geneva skyline. Another tough to miss part of Geneva is the Jet d’Eau, or “jet of water” that at a maximum height of one hundred and forty meters has turned Lake Geneva into the world’s biggest fountain. Geneva’s prominence in global politics has made her into one of Europe’s best destinations for the politically interested tourist, but her wealth of locally developed culture is sure to charm a wide variety of visitors.

'Broken Chair'
#traveldiaries
The huge 'Broken Chair' sculpture, an artwork made of wood, stands on only three legs is a symbol the campaign against landmines. It is one of the 21st century's most emblematic works of art.
Broken Chair is the work of sculptor Daniel Berset. It was made in 1997 for the NGO Handicap International. Made out of 5.5 tonnes of wood and standing at a height of 12 metres, this impressive work of art has been dominating the Place des Nations since 1997. It's message is simple: remember the victims of landmines, urge your government to promote a ban on landmines. Think of making a stopover here before heading further to visit the international district.

Trip to Geneva 🇨🇭
It was a trip to Geneva, Switzerland. Just to share some of the places that I have visited.
We explored the St. Pierre Cathedral upon arrival. It is a historic cathedral dating back to the 12th century, known for its archaeological site and stunning panoramic views from the towers.
📍Place du Bourg-de-Four 24, 1204 Genève
💰 Free entry, CHF 5 for tower access
We also visited Place du Bourg-de-Four and Maison Tavel. We explored the oldest square in Geneva, Place du Bourg-de-Four, and visit Maison Tavel, a museum showcasing Geneva's history.
📍Maison Tavel - Rue du Puits-Saint-Pierre 6, 1204 Genève
We then strolled along Lake Geneva and Jet d'Eau. Lake Geneva is one of the largest lakes in Europe, and the Jet d'Eau is a famous fountain and symbol of the city.
📍Quai Gustave-Ador, 1207 Genève
Besides, we also went to International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum. It is a museum dedicated to humanitarian work and the history of the Red Cross. It was very interesting and worth to visit.
📍Avenue de la Paix 17, 1202 Genève
💰CHF 15 for adults
If you are looking for a restaurant for lunch, I would recommend you to check out the Chez Philippe, a chic steakhouse in the city center.
We ordered Swiss beef steak 🥩 and tartare which was so delicious 🙌🙌🙌
💰CHF 30-60 per person
📍 Rue du Rhône 8, 1204 Genève
We also visited Palais des Nations and Parc des Bastions. The European headquarters of the United Nations, followed by a visit to Parc des Bastions, home to the Reformation Wall. I would recommend you to take the guided tour so that you are able to understand the place and history better.
📍 Palais des Nations - 14 Avenue de la Paix, 1202 Genève
💰Guided tour at the Palais des Nations: CHF 15
We also visited Restaurant Le Chat-Botté. It is a fine dining restaurant with a Michelin star, offering exquisite French cuisine.
We tried the Seasonal tasting menu which was very unique and delicious ❤️❤️❤️
💰CHF 100-150 per person
📍Quai du Mont-Blanc 13, 1201 Genève
Besides, we also explored Jardin Anglais and Flower Clock. A picturesque park along the lake with Geneva's famous Flower Clock.
📍Quai du Général-Guisan, 1204 Genève
After visiting the park, we vsosited a restaurant nearby, Brasserie Lipp. It is a lively brasserie offering traditional French and Swiss dishes. We ordered their signature
Zürcher Geschnetzeltes (veal in cream sauce). It was very good and the waitress working in the shop was very nice.
💰 CHF 25-50 per person
📍 Rue de la Confédération 8, 1204 Genève
Last but not least, we visited Patek Philippe Museum. A museum dedicated to the art of watchmaking, showcasing a collection from the 16th century to the present. Out all the the places, we like this the most as it was very interesting and manage to gain a lot of history knowledge as well 🥰

It's free here and you don't have to pay anything!
Geneva! There's a place that everyone goes to.
But there's an entrance fee and it's crowded with people...!
So, um... I didn't want to go there, but I was walking and found this place.
The locals were just rushing in?! Of course, it was a free place with no entrance fee.
When I got there, I got a tan and swam there. But it looked really, really deep for swimming and the water was too cold, so I couldn't dare go in. Instead, I just laid out a towel, got a tan, and had a sandwich and juice, and it was so romantic...💗 I'll tell you the location. This is a place that tourists don't know about!

I traveled in August!

UK Study Abroad | Swiss Travel Guide (6 days 5 nights)
🇨🇭The long-awaited Swiss travel diary is finally here
We flew directly from Paris to Switzerland, the airfare is cheap and very convenient, those who can adapt can choose to play in two countries together🫡
Although the title is 6 days and 5 nights, we arrived quite late on the first day, which is equivalent to a 5-day itinerary👀
The general route of this trip to Switzerland is: Geneva➡️Zermatt (Matterhorn)➡️Grindelwald (First⛰️)➡️Interlaken (Paragliding🪂)➡️Zurich➡️Lucerne (Rigi⛰️)
🌟Day1–6.5–Paris✈️Geneva
Arrived in Geneva in the evening, the airport seemed to be in a state of no one, just follow the crowd to find the bus stop!
‼️About transportation💰: You can directly purchase from 💚"Swiss Railway SBB" (💚 payment available), choose "Swiss Travel Pass" which can be used for all transportation in Switzerland during its validity period, and some scenic spots can enjoy half price discount with Swiss Pass (Matterhorn, First Mountain...)
When we bought it, there was a discount, buy 4 days and get 1 day free, perfectly covering the whole itinerary, those who have plans can check in advance whether there are recent activities😎Taking the train at any time saved a lot of time and energy
🏨: Hotel Admiral (8, rue Pellegrino Rossi, 1201, Geneva)
This hotel is very cost-effective, with breakfast, close to Geneva train station, and there is Chinese food nearby
🌟Day2–6.6–Geneva🚅Zermatt
Woke up in the morning and went to lunch!
🥣: Jingyan (special Sichuan cuisine, and many star photos)
The consumption is at p13, the price doesn't seem as scary as the legend, it's about the same as London! The taste is also good😋
📍Flower Clock➡️📍Jet d'Eau➡️📍Lake Geneva
The above three attractions are almost together, walking aimlessly along the lake, it's really comfortable, Lake Geneva is very very clear, you can sit/lie by the lake and waste time🥹
I love drinking and watching the lake observing the human vibe🫶🏻
📍Old Town Citywalk
Depending on the time, I wandered around the small shops, bought some souvenirs, but didn't go to the church (I'm already immune to European churches🥲)
📍United Nations Palace of Nations🇺🇳➡️📍Broken Chair
The Broken Chair is opposite the United Nations, you can check in and take photos, the United Nations should be able to make an appointment for a visit (those who want to go in can find out)
🥣: For dinner, we chose the Swiss specialty cheese pot🫕
Les Brasseurs (right next to Geneva train station, very convenient)
The taste is good, only a little bit smelly, with potatoes🥔 it's quite fragrant, but it's a bit greasy if you eat too much. The pork chop is also good with 🍟🥗, they also have a Chinese menu👏🏻
After dinner, we took the train to Zermatt😼 (about 4h in total)
STROLLING AROUND GENEVA SWITZERLAND
#wheretogo
We travel from Luzern to Geneva and spend a day exploring the city before departing to Paris. Though the skies seems cloudy upon our arrival, but it is still great to walk around. Geneva is a home to many luxury watches company such as Rolex, Patek Philippe, Piaget, Roger Dubuis to name a few...
The city of Geneva is easy to walk around, taking own sweet time exploring the city, strolling around the lakeside, enjoying the landscape and the gentle atmosphere.

The Broken Chair 🪑
How to get there: Tram number 15 from Cornavin and alight at Nations (or any bus that stops at Nations)
Geneva is a pretty small city. I did some research and found out the Broken Chair and The United Nation are the attractions in Geneva and ofc I have to pay a visit. It took only 15 mins to reach there from city centre.
If you wish to visit the inside of UN, do remember to pre book it on their website!!!! (we decide to visit Geneva so last minute that we weren’t unable to prebook it :(( )

Crescent-shaped lake between 🇫🇷 and🇨🇭
Lake Geneva is considered as Central Europe’s largest lake between France and Switzerland. As your train moves nearer here, you will start to spot houses resembling French architecture rather than Swiss-style architecture.
Visitors usually enjoy the cruise to notable sights, including the emblem of the city of Geneva, the “Jet d’eau”, up to 140metre high eater fountain in the middle of the lake.
Geneva itself is a diplomatic hub with many luxury shops and cobbled old town. On the southern end, you can also visit the spa town and resort of Evian-les-Bains or Lausanne, Montreux and Vevey.

Beautiful Yvoire, France
#EuroTrip - Small French Medieval Village
Located on the border with Switzerland, Yvoire is a quaint and flowery medieval village in the south-eastern region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in France. It is also situated on the French shores of Lake Geneva as well. Yvoire is also touted as one of France’s most beautiful villages, locally nicknamed the “Pearl/Gem of Lake Geneva”.
The preserved and fortified village is famous for its floral display too and has been awarded by the International Trophy for Landscape and Horticulture.
Take a walk along the village's historical cobblerstoned narrow streets and proceed to the beautiful waterfront with splendid views of Lake Geneva as well. Enjoy the magnificent sights the village and the waterfront has to offer. Remember to take tons of insta shots too !
Yvoire is now ranked as one of the International Laureates of Floral Decorations, and is a member of the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages of France.
A speciality of Yvoire is their filet de perche from Lake Geneva. So do give it a try when you visit. All the restaurants there serve it lol. If you are into duck foie gras and cheese, you are in for a treat too !

The Geneva Water Fountain | Jet D’Eau
Jet D'Eau is probably the most famous and visited place in the city of Geneva. Getting there is pretty easy as it is located in downtown and all drivers know where is located or you can stay in nearby hotels. The whole visit, including walking around and taking pictures should last between 2 to 3 hours. Lake’s water is very beautiful, there are some colorfoul flowers around to decorate the lake. If you are lucky you will be able to see some swans around. If you walk around you might find the perfect angle to see the rainbow around the jet of water. The jet is powerful and the water can reach a height up to 140 metres! You can be in this place and walk around the whole day as there is no an open or closing time.

Walking around the Old Town in Geneva.
Geneva's Old Town (Vieille Ville in French) is an interesting walk. You will see of small streets and picturesque squares, filled with cafés, restaurants, galleries, museums and historical sights. Enjoy the historical buildings such as St. Peter's Cathedral, or the Old Arsenal located in front, Place du Bourg-de-Four. Even though is better to visit this place in summer time, it could be also enjoyable to see the old town in winter time as there is plenty of Christmas decoration. Wear comfortable shoes a some streets could be very steep.

#Swiss Travel # live in the comics, what kind of feelings do you have? Enbo IBIS Hotel, Geneva, Switzerland, but really feels a real feeling. Today, Enbo recommended the IBIS Hotel in Geneva to the small partners, and hopes to have a childlike partner to feel it.
Hotel Name: Ibis Hotel Geneva Gera

Each of these 6 cartoonists Responsible for the comic design of a whole floor room, therefore, these 119 rooms represent 6 different comic worlds.
First entered the hotel, as if walking into the comics center in Brussels, looking for the adventures of Tintin! Find the world of the Smurfs. Comics are no longer the privilege of children. Often the depth of the heart touched by the brush is the depth that many film and television works cannot reach. The cartoons often give me creative self-brainstorms. Although the hotel is a three-star hotel, the three-star rating is relatively young, and the service and quality are not lost to many domestic five-stars. The comics that can be seen everywhere are really different from all the hotels that Enbo has lived in. This is an artist hotel. Montreux's spring, walking to the mountains to see Narcissus
romantic jazz capital Montreux (Montreux), is an idyllic small town, known as the "Swiss Riviera". Situated on the shores of the vast Lake Geneva, between the lakes and mountains, there are churches and small houses. The surface of the city of Xiyong is the business card of Montreux.
In the early summer of the year, in the Montreux mountains of Switzerland, the red daffodils will suddenly open on the hillsides. They quickly open on both sides of the train track and open the ski resorts that are closed. A heavy snow, dyed the mountains into white, they are like the mission of replacing the heavy snow, with vigorous white, with dazzling light, officially bid farewell to the winter.
A few centuries ago, at the turn of the spring and summer, the opening of the wild daffodils was once a prosperous age. Like people who are keen to go to the Netherlands to see tulips in May, and to see lavender in Provence in July. Before the First World War, every year in June, a large number of people would come here to see the daffodils. The Narcissus Festival is lively and extraordinary, and the grandeur is unprecedented. The symphony orchestra plays the music, the ballet opera group takes turns, and the parade floats shuttle in the city... After 1957, due to natural and artificial factors, the wild daffodils are getting less and less, the daffodils The flower festival is closed. Until recently, the daffodil festival has come back. The Swiss Daffodil Protection Association has launched different daffodil walking themes. The train company has also adjusted the route for the daffodil festival. Each hiker is required to protect the daffodils while also allowing the picking of small bundles. The narcissus is taken away. As if it was re-emerged yesterday, people took the hand of a lover, took the child, went to the depths of the mountains, came for the daffodils everywhere, for an ancient festival.
Photos of a Swiss town.
Switzerland is a landlocked country in central Europe. It borders Germany to the north, Austria and Liechtenstein to the east, Italy to the south, and France to the west. Its land area is 41,285 square kilometers, about half the size of Chongqing.
Switzerland is a mountainous country, and the magnificent scenery of the Alps is the biggest highlight of Swiss tourism. There are many ski resorts such as St. Moritz and Davos, beautiful lakes such as Lake Geneva and Lake Lucerne, and spectacular waterfalls such as the Rhine Falls.

Breakfast place
#traveldiaries #outdooractivities
We decided to have our breakfast at Cottage Cafe after we passed by it the day before. We have been attracted by its atmosphere and ambience. It was full with locals when we passed by it. The Cottage Cafe is a little brick house, located behind the plaza at Geneva. The Cottage Cafe offers varieties of tapas, mazzes, birchermuesli, bread, pastries, pasta and many more. They placed their table outdoor, so you can enjoy the garden view. It would be nice to enjoy your breakfast/brunch here during spring.
