It was a winter trip to Gifu, Japan with my partner. Gifu in winter is a magical escape filled with stunning scenery and cultural treasures 😍 We started our journey in Takayama, a charming city surrounded by the Japanese Alps. The preserved Sanmachi Suji district was a highlight, with its traditional wooden 🪵 buildings, sake breweries, and shops. Walking through the snow-covered streets felt like stepping back in time. The ambiance was perfect for photography, especially with the warm glow of lanterns at dusk. The sunrise and sunset shots from here were spectacular, and the peaceful vibe made it one of the most memorable stops of our trip. Yunoshimakan Hotel is located in Gero City, Gifu Prefecture. It is an old 5-star hotel. This hotel was also once a hotel where the Japanese royal family stayed. The hotel is located on a hill, but don't worry about transportation because there is a shuttle service from JR Station every now and then. This is the second time I have stayed at Gero Onsen Ogawaya. Ogawaya is a large, established hotel. Every time I stay at the Yuraji Annex. Yuraji Annex seems to be a annex built later on the hotel. Nighttime in the Onsen Town: Romance in tranquility As night falls, lanterns light up the old street, creating an atmosphere even more charming than during the day. Strolling in the streets wearing the yukata provided by the inn feels like stepping back in time.

Located in Gero Onsen, one of Japan's top three hot springs, Suimeikan offers a perfect blend of tradition and modernity, allowing guests to experience its unique charm. Suimeikan consists of four distinct buildings: "Rinsenkan," "Hisenkan," "Sansuikan," and "Seiranso." Each building features different styles of rooms to cater to diverse preferences. I stayed in a Japanese-style room, which was spacious and comfortable. The must-try package at this hot spring inn is the one-night stay with two meals. Dinner was French cuisine served within the hotel, exquisitely prepared, while breakfast was a set meal that was hearty and delicious. ♨️ On-site Large Bathhouses Suimeikan is renowned for its extensive hot spring facilities, featuring three large bathhouses spread across different buildings. Among them, the open-air hot spring in Sansuikan left a lasting impression, allowing me to soak while enjoying the natural surroundings—a truly delightful experience. Additionally, the indoor hot spring in Rinsenkan is available 24 hours a day, providing guests with the convenience to relax anytime. 🚄 Transportation Suimeikan boasts an extremely convenient location, just a 3-minute walk from JR Gero Station. For travelers taking the train, it takes approximately 1 hour and 28 minutes to reach Gero Station from Nagoya Station via the JR Takayama Main Line's Wide View Hida train. The inn also offers shuttle services from Gero Station to the hotel, making travel even more hassle-free.

The signature dessert here is "Hot Spring Egg Soft Cream" Put a hot spring egg on the fragrant soft serve ice cream Paired with brown rice chips, the taste is unique and delicious. In addition, their "Heart-Warming Pudding" is made from carefully selected milk and eggs, and is kept warm in buckets in the store, making it taste even sweeter and smoother.

Designed with the theme of the Izuru hot spring bath The bath is also filled with cute yellow ducks. There are not many seats in the store, but every corner is carefully decorated. You can also use ducklings and frogs to pose for pudding, which is full of childish fun. ⸻ 【Meal Introduction】A pudding feast with a delicate taste Gero Pudding specializes in various handmade puddings Each one shows the store’s care and ingenuity. Here are some of the puddings I tasted: ● Classic original pudding This pudding has a dense and delicate texture, rich egg flavor and moderate sweetness. Paired with the slightly bitter caramel sauce on top, it creates a perfect balance and is very memorable.  ● Matcha pudding Made from Kyoto Uji matcha, the bitter flavor of matcha and the sweetness of pudding blend together to create rich layers of flavor. The red bean filling on top adds a change to the taste, making it a must-have for matcha lovers. ● Seasonal fruit pudding The store will launch fruit puddings with different flavors according to the season. What I tasted was strawberry pudding. The combination of sweet and sour strawberries and fragrant pudding brought a refreshing taste! 

#MarchGoodPlaces2025 #Gero I stumbled upon this shrine while walking around Gero Onsen. From Gero Station, it's about a 10-minute walk. The shrine is hidden in the alley next to Gero Onsen Street. This shrine is based on the theme of "Kaeru"—— In Japanese, "かえる" means "frog" and also means "come back, return", which symbolizes the return of lovers, safe return, and the arrival of money. As long as you come here to worship, you will have a chance to make your wish come true❤️ The entire shrine is full of frog elements, from the frog statues at the entrance of the shrine, to the painted horses, to the amulets and fortune-telling poems, all of which are extremely cute little frogs. I personally like their "Frog Ema" very much. It is so cute and has a very visual impact when hung on the wall! A little surprise: When you put in a coin to pray, a recording will be played randomly to tell you: your wish will come true! Then it says "Gero Gero", which is the Japanese word for frog calls, allowing the frog god to interact with you. It's a very cute design!
