The honest truth‼️ Pakistan is stunning, but I really don't recommend visiting in September–October😭 If you know, you know! Pakistan is a truly underrated hidden gem. It's not about cookie-cutter tourist traps; it's a niche country that's raw, magnificent, healing, and full of cultural warmth✨ From snow-capped mountains, lakes, and river valleys to old streets and vibrant villages, everything is here. Every photo you take is wallpaper-worthy—once you've been, it's legendary! But! Let me be honest with you: The scenery is stunning, but please don't blindly rush there in September–October! Your experience will really suffer. I've put together a comprehensive, honest travel guide, including recommendations, reasons to avoid September–October, the best time to visit, must-do routes, and travel tips. If you're planning a trip to Pakistan, just follow this guide👇 🌄 First, let's rave about it! Just how beautiful is Pakistan? Known as the "Switzerland of the East" and "God's Backyard," its beauty is raw and unadorned. It's every bit as good as Switzerland or Xinjiang, but with a unique, exotic atmosphere! ✅ Northern Snow Wonderland | A true earthly paradise The Karakoram Highway runs through the entire region, connecting breathtaking scenery along the way! In autumn, the Skardu Valley is covered in golden hues, with crystal-clear lake water reflecting the endless snow-capped mountains—gentle and healing. The Hunza Valley is surrounded by snow-capped peaks, with quiet, peaceful century-old villages; look up and you'll see snow-capped summits, creating an incredible atmosphere. There's also the dreamy Fairy Meadows and the sapphire-like Satpara Lake, with water so clear it's unbelievable—clean enough to heal all your anxieties. K2 Base Camp is a hiker's paradise, where you can gaze up at the world's second-highest peak from up close—it's so magnificent it leaves you speechless. ✅ Southern Culture & Vibrancy | Millennia of exotic charm Lahore is an absolute paradise for culture lovers! The red Badshahi Mosque is pure and holy; light and shadow dance on the domes and corridors, making it perfect for photos. The old city alleys are filled with vintage markets, colorful vendors, and century-old architecture, brimming with local life. The warmth and kindness of the locals are the unique filter here; strangers will proactively greet you and help you take photos. It's simple, healing, and completely shatters stereotypes. ✅ Niche Healing Hidden Gems | Few people, beautiful scenery, no crowds Avoiding the crowds of tourist hotspots, most of the valleys, grasslands, and lakes here aren't overdeveloped, retaining their most primitive natural texture. Every photo is a masterpiece without filters—healing and niche. ⚠️ Hardcore Warning! Why don't I recommend visiting in September–October? Many guides say autumn in Pakistan is beautiful, but the actual travel experience is full of pitfalls. It's not that the scenery isn't good; it's that travel risks, the overall experience, and playability are significantly compromised. Beginners, please don't rush into it! 1. End of the rainy season + extreme weather, frequent disasters September is the tail end of Pakistan's monsoon season. The northern regions of Gilgit, Baltistan, and Kashmir experience frequent rainfall, making flash floods, landslides, and mudslides highly likely. Many mountain roads can be temporarily blocked, leaving your itinerary stranded at any time. Urban waterlogging is severe; in major cities like Punjab and Sindh, heavy rain leads to flooding. In the old city, sewers back up, sewage accumulates, and the streets are dirty and smelly, making sightseeing a terrible experience. After entering October, the weather changes abruptly. Unannounced early snow and blizzards strike, and temperatures in high-altitude areas drop off a cliff. Days are briefly cool, but nights plummet below freezing, with a diurnal temperature range of over 20°C, making it very easy to catch a cold or suffer from altitude sickness. 2. Core attractions closed, significantly reduced playability This is the biggest drawback of September–October! ✅ Starting from mid-to-late September, high-altitude hiking routes in the north close one after another. ✅ In October, top attractions like K2 Base Camp and Deosai Plains are completely closed. ✅ Many popular scenic roads are closed due to snow and rockfalls, making them impassable. You fly thousands of miles only to likely end up just wandering the old city streets, missing out on Pakistan's most essential snow-capped mountain and lake scenery—it's a huge loss! 3. Soaring travel risks, terrible road conditions Pakistan has many mountain roads. In September–October, the dual impact of rain and snow makes roads slippery and icy, with constant rockfalls, and some rural sections are muddy and difficult to traverse. Local transportation facilities are basic, and unannounced checkpoints and temporary road closures are frequent. Delays and detours are the norm, making long-distance travel exhausting and stressful, with significantly reduced safety. 4. Awkward climate, limited clothing and activities In September, southern cities are hot, humid, and rainy, making it hard to get good photos and easy to get sweaty and uncomfortable. In October, the diurnal temperature difference is extreme—short sleeves during the day, winter coats at night—making it hard to pack. Outdoor activity time is significantly shortened, making it impossible to fully enjoy sightseeing and photography. ✅ Honest advice! The best time to visit Pakistan 🌟 First choice: November–April of the following year (the perfect travel season) The safest and best time of the year for the best experience! The rainy season is completely over, the weather is sunny and dry, the sky is clear with no smog, and the clarity of the snow-capped mountains and lakes is at its peak. The temperature is comfortable and mild, with no heavy rain, blizzards, or geological disaster risks. Road conditions are stable, and all attractions and hiking routes are open. Whether you're taking photos, driving for the scenery, hiking in the mountains, or exploring the old cultural cities, the experience is top-notch! Second choice: May–June Early summer weather is refreshing, vegetation is lush, there are fewer tourists, and it's very cost-effective—suitable for those who prefer quiet, niche travel. 📍 Must-do classic routes in Pakistan | Beginners, just copy this 🔹 Cultural Healing Route (3 days) Islamabad → Lahore Old City → Badshahi Mosque → Lahore Fort Immerse yourself in a thousand years of Islamic culture, check out retro exotic architecture, and experience the local life. 🔹 Natural Hidden Gem Route (5–7 days) Karakoram Highway → Hunza Valley → Skardu Valley → Fairy Meadows → Satpara Lake Unlock snow-capped mountains, lakes, valleys, and grasslands along the way, covering 90% of Pakistan's ultimate natural scenery. 💡 Honest travel advice & practical tips 1. Pakistan has a high safety rating and is super friendly to Chinese travelers. The locals are simple and enthusiastic, so don't be discouraged by stereotypes. Choose the right season, and you can travel with complete peace of mind. 2. Local prices are super low, offering great value for food and accommodation. It's niche and not commercialized, so you won't have to deal with crowds. 3. Must-haves: Light and heavy jackets (to adapt to temperature differences), waterproof shoes, sunscreen, cold medicine, and altitude sickness medicine. 4. Try to choose a legitimate chartered car service; it's safer and more worry-free for mountain travel. 5. Respect local customs; dress modestly when entering mosques and avoid revealing clothing. Summary: Pakistan is definitely a niche, heavenly country worth visiting at least once in your lifetime✨ The snow-capped mountains are magnificent, the lakes are gentle, and the culture is healing—the scenery is irreplaceable! But I really don't recommend traveling in September–October. There are many disasters, attractions are closed, and the experience is poor. Don't be fooled by the filters of early autumn scenery! Aim for November–April of the following year to unlock its most ultimate beauty!

The journey to Khunjerab Pass is as breathtaking as the destination itself. Winding through the majestic mountains of northern Pakistan, the road passes through dramatic valleys, glaciers, and some of the most awe-inspiring scenery on Earth. ⛰️ As I approached the pass, the landscape became increasingly surreal. Northern Pakistan is a mountainous paradise surrounded by the Himalayas 🏔️. It features stunning glaciers and turquoise lakes along the Karakoram Highway, which is renowned as one of the world's most dangerous yet breathtakingly scenic routes 🚌🛣️. We went into this trip without high expectations, but it turned out to be an unforgettable journey. The locals are incredibly sweet, kind, and hospitable. The nature is absolutely pristine, and the views are spectacular—truly a million-star experience. We couldn't stop saying "beautiful" 💫. 🌲 Key Attractions: 𝙊𝙡𝙙 𝙎𝙞𝙡𝙠 𝙍𝙤𝙖𝙙: The ancient trade route. 𝙃𝙪𝙣𝙯𝙖 𝙍𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧: A vibrant blue stream surrounded by mountains glowing in orange and yellow autumn foliage, looking just like a masterpiece 🏞️. 𝙃𝙪𝙣𝙯𝙖 𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙮: An ancient town tucked away in one of the world's most stunning and pollution-free mountain ranges. It’s also famous as a Blue Zone where residents boast an impressive life expectancy, averaging 85 to 120 years! 𝙀𝙖𝙜𝙡𝙚 𝙉𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙋𝙚𝙖𝙠: Known as the "Roof of Hunza" ⛰️ atop Duiker peak. Here, you get a panoramic view of the valley, the river, five world-class mountain peaks, and the famous Lady Finger Peak. 𝘼𝙡𝙩𝙞𝙩 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙩: An ancient fort in Hunza offering majestic, bird's-eye views of the town, river, and surrounding mountains 🏰. 𝙃𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙧 𝙂𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙧: A fascinating black glacier formed by millennia of ice accumulation turning into rock-hard formations. 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙪 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙨 - 𝘽𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩 𝙇𝙖𝙠𝙚 - 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙪 𝙂𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙧: Home to the iconic sawtooth mountains and a magnificent white glacier. You need to take a van up and then hike for about 2-3 kilometers. The views are absolutely jaw-dropping—definitely a must-see ‼️ 𝘼𝙩𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙙 𝙇𝙖𝙠𝙚: A breathtaking turquoise lake created by a massive landslide over a decade ago. There are plenty of fun activities here, like jet skiing and boating 🛶. 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡: Ancient Buddhist rock carvings along the banks of the Indus River. 𝙃𝙪𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞 𝘽𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙜𝙚: Often dubbed the most dangerous suspension bridge in the world 🌁. 𝙆𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙝 𝘽𝙪𝙙𝙙𝙝𝙖: A magnificent Buddha statue carved into a cliff face dating back to the 7th century (a reminder of the region's Buddhist past). 𝙅𝙪𝙡𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮: Located in Taxila, a UNESCO World Heritage site recognized as the world's first Buddhist university. 𝙁𝙖𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙡 𝙈𝙖𝙨𝙟𝙞𝙙: The largest and most beautiful mosque in South Asia, and the 6th largest in the world 🕌. 𝙆𝙝𝙪𝙣𝙟𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙗 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙨: The highest border crossing in the world, connecting Pakistan and China. (Sadly, we had to skip this as heavy snowfall made the pass inaccessible). 🚗 Domestic Transportation: · We booked a private tour and traveled in a minibus the entire time. Our driver was incredibly skilled. Despite the winding roads, none of us got carsick. I felt completely safe even when we were hugging cliff edges, driving over waterfalls, or navigating sketchy dirt paths, lol 🤣. 🛂 Tourist Visa: · You can easily apply online. It’s super convenient—ours was approved in just about 3 days. 💰 Expenses: · International Flights: Thai Airways direct flight from Bangkok to Islamabad costs between 11,000-24,000 THB, depending on when you book. · Private Tour: $900 USD per person (covers accommodation, meals, and transportation). · Visa Fee: $25 USD for a single entry. · Pocket Money 💸: We converted THB to USD back home and then exchanged it for Pakistani Rupees (PKR) with our guide (Exchange rate: $1 USD = 210 PKR). Over 8 days, we spent less than $100 USD, mostly on tips for the driver and guide, restroom fees, souvenirs, snacks, and coffee. Any leftover rupees can be exchanged back with the guide! 🤎 Additional Tips & Recommendations: · If you're planning to visit Fairy Meadows (literally heaven on earth ☁️), June to July is the best time for great weather and clear skies. · Highly recommended hotels for great views, lovely staff, cleanliness, and delicious food: Hard Rock Hotel and Hilltop Hunza ✨. · Women should dress modestly when visiting sacred sites. Make sure to wear a headscarf (hijab) when entering mosques, and avoid wearing revealing clothes while exploring the towns 🧕🏻. · The AIS SIM2Fly only works decently in Islamabad. Once you enter the Gilgit-Baltistan region, you definitely need to buy a local "mountain SIM" from SCOM 4G 📲, as it’s the only network that gets any signal up there. · We struggled a bit with the local food, which mostly consists of chicken, beef, yak, curries, and naan 🍗🍕. If you’re a picky eater, definitely pack plenty of snacks and instant noodles (just remember, no pork allowed in the country!). · Fresh local apples 🍎 and apricots are insanely delicious. Do not miss them! · Best souvenirs to bring home: Cashmere scarves, nuts, carpets, tea, and Himalayan pink salt. · Packing essentials: Hiking boots, universal adapters, wet wipes, a good windbreaker, and a personal first-aid kit, as pharmacies are hard to find in the mountains. Most importantly, bring Diamox if you're prone to altitude sickness—it’s a lifesaver 😷. · Travel insurance is a must! Since most attractions are in deep valleys, the weather is unpredictable and itineraries often change. We had to skip several spots due to bad weather. We were originally supposed to take a domestic flight ✈️ from Islamabad to Gilgit, but it was canceled due to poor conditions. Be mentally prepared for a 50/50 chance of flights getting canceled. Because of this, we had to endure a 16-hour drive through the mountains instead. It was the longest car ride of my life, but safety comes first 😭😂. If you’ve read this far, you probably realized that hidden behind all this beauty is a fair bit of roughing it. It was definitely a bit of an adventure trip! We dealt with sub-zero temperatures 🥶❄️, rode in a car for at least 4-5 hours daily, ate repetitive meals that weren't totally to our liking, used less-than-ideal public restrooms, and survived with no hot water, weak heaters, and barely any cell service. It's like getting an unintentional social detox. Disconnecting from the outside world allowed us to fully soak in the endless, majestic landscapes. We connected with the people right in front of us, building great friendships and helping each other out when things didn’t go as planned. Honestly, this trip was so heartwarming and deeply inspiring that I’d love to return to the embrace of these mountains all over again ❤️😊 tour travel

Things you need to know before visiting Pakistan 📸 Heading to Fairy Meadows in Pakistan requires both physical prep and the right gear because the journey up is quite challenging and adventurous. This viewpoint is a stunning alpine meadow offering breathtaking views of the snow-capped Nanga Parbat (the 9th highest peak in the world). Best time to visit · April - May and September - October: The weather is super comfortable, skies are clear, and the views are at their absolute best (in these pics, I went from April 11-18, 2026). · Heads up: Fairy Meadows is only open to visitors from April to October. A journey that requires some mental prep 1. A nerve-wracking jeep ride: From the parking lot at Raikot Bridge, you'll need to take a jeep ascending a narrow, steep mountain edge (about 12 km), which takes around 1.5 - 2 hours. The road is pretty sketchy, so brace yourself for a thrill ride and a seriously sore butt. 2. Trekking or horseback riding: Once the jeep drops you off at Tattu Village, you'll either have to trek for another 3 - 4 hours or hire a horse from the locals to reach the meadows (for an extra fee). I opted for the horse and came back with a bruised backside >< Packing tips · Pack light: Just bring a small backpack with essentials for 1 - 2 days. You can leave your large suitcases at the starting point or your hotel down below. · Winter gear: It gets pretty chilly to freezing up in the meadows, especially at night. Make sure to pack a windbreaker, a down jacket, and thermal underwear. · Hiking boots: Bring shoes with solid grip and traction since the trail will be snowy all the way. Facilities · Accommodation: You'll mostly find rustic wooden cabins and camping tents. · No 24/7 electricity: Power typically comes from generators or solar panels and is only turned on during specific hours (like the evening). Bring plenty of power banks to stay charged. · Cell service: The internet up there is virtually non-existent or super spotty. It’s the perfect excuse to unplug, relax, and fully soak in nature. · It gets freezing in the rooms, so they’ll light a wood fire for you instead of a heater, which definitely takes the edge off the cold. If you're planning to go, make sure you plan and prep well. But trust me, the views you'll witness are 100% worth the trek!

Descending from the high-altitude snow-capped peaks, we dove straight into the Taxila Museum. If the 8,000-meter Nanga Parbat is an epic of nature, then Taxila is a narrative poem of human civilization. This was once the heart of the ancient Gandhara Kingdom—the most intense and dazzling cultural crossroads of East and West along the Silk Road. 🏺 A Historical Riddle | Why do these Buddhas have Greek faces? Strolling through the museum, you'll uncover a fascinating historical truth: the Buddha statues on display here are entirely different from the ones we typically see in East Asia. Cultural Fusion: Gandhara art is the beautiful crystallization of Buddhism and ancient Greek art. Look closely at the deep, flowing folds of the statues' robes—that's the realism of ancient Greek sculpture. Yet, the serene, compassionate, and introspective expressions are the very soul of Indian civilization. This unique blend of a "Greek face and a Buddha's heart" was a one-of-a-kind cultural phenomenon on this land some two millennia ago. 🕰️ A Gaze Across Millennia | Every fragment tells a story The museum's collection features countless small yet exquisite artifacts. These everyday utensils, ornaments, and fragments of deity statues are the tangible imprints of real lives lived over two thousand years ago. A Dialogue Across Time and Space: Alexander the Great once set foot here, Ashoka the Great spread Buddhism from this very spot, and countless monks and merchants left their footprints along this route. Standing before these weathered stone statues, time no longer feels linear, but beautifully layered. Through their slightly upturned lips and tranquil eyes, you can almost catch a glimpse of how those who lived at the end of the Silk Road two thousand years ago offered their most peaceful answers to life and the world. ✨ A Glimpse of History | Save some time for yourself Walking down the museum's corridors, you don't need dense historical texts to understand the past. You simply need to gaze quietly at these stone figures and take in their texture under the play of light and shadow. Taxila isn't just a repository of antiquities; it's a massive time capsule, silently guarding a breathtakingly magnificent past that time nearly forgot. If you ever find yourself in Pakistan, make sure to set aside an afternoon for this place. Don't worry about grasping every dense historical detail—just let these ancient stones and the winds of two thousand years ago gently sweep over your soul. 📍 Taxila Museum, Pakistan

After a heart-pounding jeep ride along cliffside edges, our vehicle finally came to a halt at the terminus in Tattu Village. From this point on, modern transportation bows out completely. To catch a glimpse of the legendary Fairy Meadows, we had to rely solely on our own two feet, making our way step by step along the rugged trails of the Karakoram. 🥾 Embarking on the Pilgrimage | Every step brings us closer to the sacred mountain The trail slowly ascends through steep gorges and pine forests, the air growing crisp and chilly as the altitude increases: The stunning first sight of the snow-capped peak: As you keep your head down, catching your breath and sweating along the gravel path, you suddenly look up—and there it is! The world's ninth-highest peak, the 8,126-meter "Killer Mountain" Nanga Parbat, stands unobscured right at the end of your line of sight! Its massive white silhouette radiates a sacred, untouchable majesty. At that very moment, all physical exhaustion vanishes into thin air. 🌲 Wilderness and Vitality | Walking through a giant, healing canvas of nature Along the way, we passed through ancient, pristine pine forests, with dry loess and gravel underfoot: Light and shadows in the valley: The afternoon sun pierced through the towering pine needles, casting a dappled glow over the winding mountain path. Flanked by rugged, landslide-prone badlands, the trail leads straight into vibrant greens and pure whites ahead. This incredibly wild hiking route is the ultimate soulful treat for any adventurer. 🎒 Never Stop Walking | Forging ahead to the alpine meadows With backpacks on, we paused whenever tired to grab a sip of water and gaze at the distant snowline and glacier streams. Stripped of roaring engines, the only sounds left were our footsteps crunching on the gravel and the wind blowing down from the 8,000-meter snowy peaks. Though the trail is steep, every step counts on this path to a fairytale wonderland. Fairy Meadows, we are coming for you, one step at a time! ✨🏔️ 📍 Tattu to Fairy Meadows Trek, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan

Today ushered in the most hardcore and adrenaline-pumping extreme challenge of our trip! We hopped into a local driver's jeep and drove onto this world-famous, dangerous road—the cliffside road from Raikot Bridge to Tattu. The entire one-hour drive was truly breathless, with our palms drenched in cold sweat! 🤯⛓️ 🚗 Hellish Road Conditions|This is what a real "cliffside" road looks like This road can hardly be called a highway; it's a dirt track carved out of a vertical, scree-covered mountainside: The narrowness is breathtaking: the road is just wide enough for one jeep. The most terrifying thing is that there are absolutely no guardrails on the outside of the road, not even the slightest bit of protection! Looking out the window, there's an unfathomable abyss with a vertical drop of hundreds of meters and a rolling gray river valley; my heart was in my throat. 🔄 The Ultimate Oncoming Traffic Showdown | A Veteran Driver's Extreme Maneuvers Driving on roads like this is terrifying enough, but the most thrilling part is navigating the incredibly narrow edges of cliffs to avoid and pass oncoming vehicles: Narrow Encounters: Occasionally, a jeep returning from the opposite direction will come towards you. On one side is a deadly cliff, and on the other, a deep abyss. We can only watch helplessly as the driver skillfully maneuvers the vehicle close to the edge of the cliff, the rearview mirrors of the two vehicles almost brushing past each other. Besides trusting the local veteran driver's god-like skills, all we can do is silently pray! 🌪️ Flying Sand and Rocks | A Wilderness Expedition Battling Against the Mountains The wheels constantly slip and bounce on the loose gravel, outside the window, yellow dust flies everywhere, inside the vehicle we grip the handrails tightly, our bones feel like they're about to be shaken apart, but we can't bear to close our eyes. The Adventurer's Badge: When we safely reach the destination and our feet touch the ground, the thrill and excitement of surviving a close call is indescribable! This road will forever remain etched in my memory. No craziness, no adventure, that's not Pakistan! Having successfully unlocked a world-class dangerous road, next up, we're trekking to the legendary "Fairy Meadow"! Mountains, here we come! ⛰️🤘🥾 📍 Raikot to Tattu Jeep Track, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan #Pakistan #RaikotBridge #TattuVillage #World'sMostDangerousRoad #JeepAdventure #ExtremeChallenge #RoadTrip #LifePhotos #MyTravelNotes #TripMoments #HeartPounding

Nanga Parbat is a mountain located in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. It is the ninth-highest peak in the world, with an elevation of approximately 8,126 meters above sea level. Part of the western Himalayas, it lies on the southern side of the Indus River. "Nanga Parbat" is Urdu for "Naked Mountain". In the local language (Kashmiri/Dardic), it is also called Diamir, meaning "King of Mountains". Nanga Parbat is nicknamed "Killer Mountain" due to the extreme difficulty of its ascent and the high number of fatalities in early 20th-century expeditions.

Finally im arrived Sblum smpai ke puncak rasa mcm nak patah balik sbb last track mmg pacak 60-70degree dgn tali pun xada. Pas tu dok tgk jam sbb ada cut of time. Kena smpai sblum kul 2pm. Aku smpai kul 1, org ke5 dari 12org yeahh. So total 11km. Masa smpai dah hypoglycaemia, kak london bg kacang gan apricot kat aku. View dia berbaloi hahha

Check point ke2 dah smpai nanga parbat view point- 40min 3707m elevation, moderate track tapi dengan rasa panas terik wlpun suhu sejuk- paham kan- kita diatas ketinggian yg tinggi so direct gan sun light mmg jadi udang bakar la. Pas tu x byk pokok semua mcm gurun sahara ja, berdebu berpasir. Masa ne dah mula pikir nak teruskan x. Air plak tinggal 250ml ja lagi- kat sini xada kedai yg boleh refill air. Check point ke2 sapa yg x larat tu xleh guna perkhidmatan kuda dah. Bayaran kuda rm80 ke check point pertama ja(beyal camp) one way. Elevation semakin meningkat, dada pun rasa sempit sbb x cukup oksigen, tips kalau letih kena ambik gmbar haaha. Masa ne xada org dah kena la minta tolong batu ambikkan haha.
