Every local recommended me to go there, and they are right, it is really great, peaceful, and tranquil. If you want to go somewhere in nature in this city, go to Noorderplantsoen. ☕️World of Barista☕️ It’s nice to enjoy a cup of coffee that is not expensive at the city center. The coffee was so good. Highly recommended! 🌱Ekoplaza🌱 For organic food, you can go to Ekoplaza. They even have zero-waste products that you can bring your own containers to fill up oats and grains. I just love this kind of store and they have it at Groningen! 👩🏻🌾Marktstraat🥬 Go here for the farmers market to meet local farmers. I did my grocery there, and I got a super nice bread that is full of grains! So healthy and delicious! ⛪️Martinikerk💟 This is one of the oldest church in Groningen. You can even climb up there for a view. It’s so ancient and beautiful. 🏫Forum Go there for all the cool events. They even have a movie theater there. At the very top, there is a restaurant. If you want to see the beautiful sunset up high for free, go to Forum!🌅 🎓University of Groningen This is one of the oldest universities in the Netherlands. The buildings are so beautiful as well. My travel picks in Netherland were all over the place. Firstly, because I was very comfortable. Most places in Netherlands, it was easy to get by with English. And secondly I was constantly looking foe off beat spots. If a place had decent transport connections, accomodation options and no harsh reviews, i would give it a try. Also, I had exhausted the usual list of places people go to in Netherlands. Groningen made for an unusual but eventful break. Bicycles were big here as with many other places in Netherlands. And my preferred choice. This being the month of May, the weather was very nice. I picked a hostel outside the city center. I started off with a wonderful boat tour. Great way to absorb the sights and get a hang of the town. Rest of my travels were a combo of on foot and the bicycle. From the Groningen museum, to the fish market, martini tower, to cycling around town and trying a hand at indoor rock climbing. During the half year of living in Groningen, most of the time I bought ingredients and went back to the dormitory to cook for myself or ate meals cooked by classmates from various countries. I only went to a coffee shop when I wanted to drink a cup of good coffee, and I loved it the most. The one I love and the one I go to most often is Food Matterz! Ever since I ordered a cup of the rarely seen Latte Macchiato one time, I have been addicted. The warm and fragrant fresh milk is mixed with a large layer of thick and dense milk foam, and finally a shot of coffee is poured into it. Everything goes together just right. There will also be a small cookie and a small cup of sinful sweet whipped cream on the side😌. From then on, this cup of Food Matterz’s Latte Macchiato has become my must-order every time. (In the photo, there is a cup of Latte at the table every time. Getting There - The Martinitower is located in the centre of the inner city. It is the easiest to get there by bike. There are many bikes parked next to the tower Attractions - The view from the Martinitower is great as it is the highest building in the City. From there you can look down on all the other buildings and plazas Hotels - Next to the martini tower there is a great hotel called the martini hotel.
