Little German Town in Adelaide
If you go Adelaide, you should head to Hahndorf in South Adelaide. It is a very small town, but insanely crowded on the weekend, filled with tourists and local, which also makes parking hard to find, so do go there early.
This town is known for its german style architecture and artisanal food. This was also a place once home to the German migration and local history. There are many things to do and see in Hahndorf, like a brewery, cheese cellar, cidery, winery, distiller and world famous beerenberg farm hahndorf. You can also choose to pick strawberries here just like how in german where you are given a bucket to pick the strawberries, you can even eat while you pick and eat as much as you can. But whatever is in your bucket, you only pay for that.
There are also eco - friendly handmade candles, museum and a historic home, so do make sure you plan your time spending here.
We definitely enjoyed ourselves with the good old german pork knuckle, had traditional hand made pretzels, a satisfying well spent afternoon in hahndorf.

German feast at Hahndorf
After a long walking along Hahndorf Street, we decided to have our lunch at the famous German cuisine restaurant- The Haus Restaurant. This restaurant is located at Hahndorf Main Street which you can easily spot.
The restaurant menu features various German specialties and also not to forget the handcrafted beer. Who can resist handcrafted beer in a German restaurant? We ordered the famous all in German platter and also beer for tasting. The atmosphere is great and we really enjoy our lunch here

Strawberry Picking experience at Bereenberg
It’s cloudy day in Adelaide but we still decided to visit this strawberry farm at Hahndoft in order to experience the strawberry picking. Its about 30-40mins drive from Adelaide CBD.
Bereenberg farm is running by the 6th generation of Peach family who successfully converted from family farm to working strawberry farm, and transformed to the brand as Bereenberg.
The highlight of the visit is pick your own strawberry which cost AUD5 for the entrance and AUD12/kg for the strawberry that you can bring home. The freshness strawberry from farm. We don’t have much time spend in the farm as showering in the afternoon. We quickly wrap up and we have a quick coffee break at the cafe / souvenir shop. Variety types of jams/ dressing can be found as good as souvenirs.
We enjoy the strawberry picking and also the good cafe. Will visit again soon in good weather

Meeting the authentic German village in South Australia
180 years ago, a group of Germans arrived in the Australian mainland not far away, and began to expand in the ridiculous New World. Until today, it is the largest German gathering place around Adelaide.
Into the German village, it seems that you will come to Germany when you turn around, and the traces of German culture will always come in unconsciously. The most worthwhile part of the German village is the main street here, the characteristic blacksmith shop, various hand workshops, the pioneer immigration museum, the German church, the German coffee dessert house, the German restaurant, in short, everything here. They all began to bring the German flavor, walking in between, there is the illusion of lounging in the German countryside.
If you come in the fall, it will be colorful!
In the early days of South Australia, it was a free immigration area, so it has a lot of immigrant towns. There is a German town in Hahndorf in Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. Although it is only a 30-minute drive from downtown Adelaide, the scenery of the German village of Handorf is not like Australia. It adds a touch of exoticism to South Australia. This contrast brings many surprises.
1838, a German captain Hahndorf discovered it and led a group of Prussians and East German immigrants to settle down and take root. In this way, the formation of the German village of Handorf has been more than one hundred and seventy years old.
Today, it is not only the most famous town in the Adelaide Hills, but also the oldest German immigrant settlement in Australia. Despite the constant changes in time and space, Handdorf still retains its original features.
Into the town, the bakery and sausage shop on the main street are filled with strong German flavor, and many of the buildings on the street still retain the style of a hundred years ago. The German style is everywhere.
