Higanbana on the Yakachi River Bank in Japan - a beautiful flower viewing spot in autumn
#10月好去处2024 Higanbana on the Yakachi River Bank - a beautiful flower viewing spot in autumn
Every early autumn, a sea of red Higanbana blooms on the Yakachi River Bank in Handa City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, making it a flower viewing spot that tourists cannot miss. These bright red flowers contrast beautifully with the blue sky, distant mountains, and rural countryside, creating a tranquil and stunning natural picture.
Dreamy sea of red spider lilies
The most eye-catching thing about the Yakachi River embankment is the endless sea of red spider lilies. These red spider lilies blooming on both sides of the river bank are like burning flames, covering the entire field of vision. The bright red color looks particularly charming under the sunlight. From the first ray of sunshine in the morning shining on the sea of flowers, to the flower fields being dyed with golden glow when the sun sets, every moment of the scenery is enchanting.
Harmonious coexistence of nature and humanity
Standing on the riverbank, you can not only enjoy the beauty of the red spider lilies, but also feel the tranquil rural scenery around you. The villages, fields and sea of red flowers in the distance are intertwined together, forming a harmonious and beautiful rural picture. Walking on this path is like walking into a fairy tale world. The air is filled with the fresh scent of soil and flowers, making people unconsciously slow down their pace and enjoy a moment of tranquility.
Suitable for family outings
The Yakachi River embankment attracts many tourists during its blooming period, but the sea of flowers is wide enough that tourists can disperse at different locations on the embankment to avoid crowds and enjoy a leisurely flower-viewing time. This place is not only suitable for photography enthusiasts, but also a good place for family travel. Children can run and play beside the sea of flowers, while adults can take beautiful photos to capture this beautiful moment of autumn.
Best time to enjoy the flowers
Mid-September to early October is the best time to enjoy the red spider lily. The specific flowering time may vary slightly depending on the climate. Visitors are advised to check the latest flowering period information before departure to ensure a worthwhile trip.
In general, the red spider lilies on the Yakachi River embankment are undoubtedly one of the most worth-seeing natural wonders in Aichi Prefecture in autumn. If you are looking for a place away from the hustle and bustle of the city and to experience the tranquility and natural beauty of autumn, why not come to the Yakachi River embankment, stroll in this beautiful sea of red spider lilies, and enjoy the tenderness and romance of autumn.

Traveling around Chita Peninsula: Red spider lilies along the banks of the Yakachi River in Gon no Sato
Handa City on the Chita Peninsula is also the hometown of Niimi Nankichi, the author of the fairy tale "Gon the Fox." Every year during the autumn red spider lilies season, the "Gon Autumn Festival" is held in grand style, with 3 million red spider lilies dyeing the Yakatsu River red, creating a seasonal sight. Every year, many tourists visit to see the fields of red spider lilies blooming along the banks of the Yakatsu River. The bright red red spider lilies in full bloom on the banks of the long river, which stretches 2km from east to west, are worth seeing! Across the Yakatsu River, there is the Niimi Nankichi Memorial Museum and a park, so you can enjoy it even with children! Location: Iwaname Nishimachi 1-chome, Handa City Travel Style #100

Kamisaki Shrine - Kamezaki Otagasha Shrine
I visited Kamezaki Otagasha Shrine in Handa City, Aichi Prefecture. Kamezaki Otagasha Shrine is located on the left, halfway up the stone steps of Kamisaki Shrine. The approach to the shrine stretches out, and you arrive at Kamezaki Otagasha Shrine beyond the torii gate. There you will find lion statues and the magnificent Kamezaki Otagasha Shrine. The shrine was built on the slope of a mountain and is built in the Shinmei-zukuri style, with the mountainside looming to the right. The date of its construction is unknown, but Kamezaki Otagasha Shrine is truly magnificent. It is definitely worth a visit!

"Bikkuri Donkey" Handa store
I went to the Handa branch of Bikkuri Donkey.
The Handa branch of Bikkuri Donkey is located on the left hand side after heading south on National Route 247 and passing Meitetsu Aoyama Station. Not only are the hamburgers delicious, but I also like the atmosphere of the restaurant. This time, I ordered the Cheese Curry Burger Dish and Curry Burger Dish from the lunch menu. The hamburger was plump and juicy and really delicious. Also, the value for money is excellent. There was a good balance between the lean feel, price, and taste. I would especially recommend the Curry Burger Dish.

Aichi Trip! Kamezaki Castle Ruins
#Trip to Aichi #Tourism in Aichi #Trip to experience history and culture
I visited the ruins of Kamezaki Castle on a trip to Aichi.
Kamezaki Castle is believed to have been built by Mizuno Nobumoto, the uncle of Tokugawa Ieyasu, at the same time as Imori Castle as a subsidiary castle of Ogawa Castle, and was built to monitor Kinuura Bay. Unfortunately, there seems to be almost no remains, but it is located on a steep hill and overlooks the sea, so it was probably the perfect place to watch over the sea. It is now a park, and the stone monument of the Kamezaki Castle ruins stands quietly in one corner.
From the observation deck, you can see a beautiful view of Kinuura Bay.

[Chita Peninsula Trip] Confectioner Masamitsu
If you go to Handa, this is a Japanese sweets store you should definitely visit.
"Kasho Shoman"
This store is famous for its delicious daifuku mochi, warabi mochi, and red rice.
When I went to the store, I was surprised at the variety of daifuku in the display case! There are roughly 30 varieties. They are all delicious, from seasonal fruits such as Shine Muscat grapes and peaches, to the classic flavors of salt daifuku, roasted green tea bean paste, and black sesame bean paste, which are Japanese-style fillings. The texture of the warabimochi is completely different from other shops. There are two types of warabimochi: the classic flavor and brown sugar. The daifuku starts at 100 yen, and the warabimochi at 300 yen, making them affordable. They are also perfect as souvenirs. Address: 3-10 Otsukawa Hachiman-cho, Handa City, Aichi Prefecture, 475-0044. Business hours: 9:00 to 17:00. Phone: 0569-47-8038. #Aichi gourmet. #Chita Peninsula gourmet. #Japanese sweets. #Handa City. #Gourmet trip.

A trip to Aichi! Iwaname Hachiman Shrine, a shrine associated with Niimi Nankichi
#Trip to Aichi #Tourism in Aichi Prefecture #Tourist spots #Travel to experience history and culture #Tourist spots that feel history #Visiting shrines
On my trip to Aichi, I stopped by Iwaname Hachiman Shrine in Handa City. This shrine is associated with Niimi Nankichi, and is a one-minute walk from Niimi Nankichi's birthplace.
It is said that Niimi Nankichi passed through the shrine grounds every day to go back and forth between his annex and his shop (his birthplace).
In addition to appearing in fairy tales such as "The Fox," "The Story of Kyusuke-kun," and "Irodori," "Gon Fox" (the draft of "Gon Fox") was also created as a story that Niimi heard from his grandfather Mosuke in front of the young man's storehouse in the shrine grounds.
It's definitely worth a visit!

Aichi Trip! Handa City "Jofukuji Temple" "Great Cycad"
#Trip to Aichi #Tourism in Aichi #Trip to experience history and culture #Tourist spots #Tourist spots with a sense of history #Temple tour
During my trip to Aichi, I stopped by Jofuku-in Temple in Handa City.
Jofuku-in Temple was founded in the Eiroku era (1558-70) as the family temple of the Iwaname Nakayama clan, and it is said that a cycad was donated at that time.
The large cycad in the temple grounds is very rare on the Chita Peninsula and is designated as a natural monument by Handa City.
Jofuku-in Temple is a place where Nankichi often went to play, and it is said that in the past, where this temple stood, there was a castle called Iwaname Castle and a large mansion. Jofuku-in Temple appears in the work "Hiyorigeta," which tells the story of a baby raccoon learning how to disguise himself from its mother.

On a trip to Aichi, I stopped by Koren-ji Temple, a place associated with Niimi Nankichi.
Koren-ji Temple was moved to this location in 1891, and a signboard in the temple grounds said that Niimi Nankichi, the famous author of "Gon the Fox," came here to study sutras when he was in elementary school.
The temple gate and main hall both have the atmosphere of buildings that have been there since that time, making it a very impressive temple. It's definitely worth a visit!

#Trip to Aichi #Tourism in Aichi Prefecture #Tourist Spots #Tourist Attractions #Journey to Experience History and Culture #Tourist Spots with a Historical Feel
During my trip to Aichi, I stopped by "Nimi Nankichi's Birthplace."
When facing the "Nimi Nankichi's Birthplace," the geta shop is on the left and the tatami shop is on the right. At the back of the house, there is a kitchen area that can be accessed by descending a ladder. I thought the kitchen area was underground, but when I looked into it, I found out that it was on the first floor and the geta shop and tatami shop were on the second floor. Although the residence was built in the Taisho era, it is well preserved and looks like it could still be lived in today. Right next to it is a monument to Niimi Nankichi's childhood. Admission is free. There is also parking for five cars. It's definitely worth a visit!

Aichi trip! Niimi Nankichi Memorial Museum!
#Trip to Aichi #Tourism in Aichi #Tourist Spots #Trip to Experience History and Culture #Tourist Spots with a Historical Feel #Tourist Spots
On a trip to Aichi, I went to the "Nimi Nankichi Memorial Museum".
The "Nimi Nankichi Memorial Museum" is a very cute building that seems to be buried in a grassy hill. A small river flows through the grounds, and statues of foxes welcome you here and there, so you'll be excited even before you enter the museum. The museum seems to have just been renovated, and not only the exterior but also the inside is new and clean. Various foxes will greet you here as well. The arrangement and explanations of the exhibits were very good, so I was able to enjoy looking at the works from start to finish. There is also a small coffee shop and a shop where you can buy picture books and goods. This year marks the 110th anniversary of his birth, so they also held a special exhibition. The museum's grounds, the interior of the building, and the way the works are displayed are all very well organized, making it a tourist spot that can be enjoyed by both solo and family. The large parking lot is also helpful.
It's definitely worth a visit!

Aichi Trip: Nariha Shrine!
#Trip to Aichi #Trip to experience history and culture #Visiting shrines
I visited Nariha Shrine on my trip to Aichi.
Nariha Shrine is located next to the Kunimori Sake Culture Museum along the Handa Canal. It is written as Nariha but pronounced as Nariha. Nariha Shrine is the guardian deity of Shimohanda and enshrines Matsuo Shrine, the guardian deity of sake brewing, and Funatama Shrine, which is in charge of safe shipping.
Also, to the right of the entrance to the shrine, there is a vermilion-painted torii gate and a bright red "Hime Shrine". It is said that if you stroke the power stone inside the shrine, you will be blessed with good fortune in children, fertility, and safe childbirth.
It seems that there is a festival in Handa where magnificent floats are displayed, and at that time, magnificent floats are lined up in the grounds of Nariha Shrine. It is worth seeing.

Aichi Travel: Children's God "Kamisaki Shrine"
#Aichi Trip #Tourist Spots with a Feeling of History #Photo Guide at Tourist Spots #Shrine Tour #Travel to Experience History and Culture
On my trip to Aichi, I visited Kamisaki Shrine, famous as a god of children. Kamisaki Shrine is a shrine located in Kamezaki, Handa City, Aichi Prefecture, and is a very large shrine with the status of a former prefectural shrine. It enshrines Kamuyamatowarehiko-no-mikoto as its deity, and is famous as a rare god of children in the Tokai region. The founding year is unknown, but it is said that Emperor Jimmu landed here from Ise Province when he was on his eastern expedition, and the shrine began when a shrine was built at the landing point. Within the grounds, there is a well (Kami no I) that is said to have been used by Emperor Jimmu.
The spring festival, Shiohi Festival, is counted as one of the "Yama, Hoko, and Yatai Events" and was registered as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. It is worth seeing.

The interior is very stylish, with a museum, a retro cafe, and a shop selling souvenirs from the Chita area, including Handa! The original walls remain, and there is plenty to see♪
Admission to the building is free, but the museum's permanent exhibition costs 200 yen.

Recommended sightseeing spots along the Handa Canal
The large 150-year-old Mansan white bank rose in the garden of the Oguri Family Residence, a nationally registered tangible cultural property, was designated a natural monument of Handa City in 2011, and its pretty white flowers bloom every year from mid-April to early May, making it a sight to behold.
The rose tree's vines have a heart-shaped part, which is fun to look for.
Outside the building, there is a traditional merchant's house called Mansan, where you can buy souvenirs.
The headquarters of Mizkan is located along the canal in Handa City, and you can see the history of brewing at the Mizkan Museum, or take a walk in front of the Mizkan-marked storehouse along the canal to explore various historical areas.
At Canal Night, which is held along the canal every August, stalls are set up and lanterns are hung from the large tree next to Hanroku Garden, which creates a fantastic and beautiful scene when the sun goes down.
It's also fun to stroll through the alleys lit up with Japanese umbrellas.

[Handa] A town of storehouses along the Handa Canal
I took a walk around the "Handa Canal Storehouse Town" in Handa City, Aichi Prefecture, where you can enjoy a nostalgic atmosphere.
Black-walled storehouses line the canal, and the retro townscape that dates back to the Edo and Meiji periods remains.
The brewing industry of sake, vinegar, and other products has been thriving here since ancient times, and they were transported all over the country via the Handa Canal.
There are also facilities that can be visited, such as the MIZKAN MUSEUM, Japan's only comprehensive museum of vinegar (advance reservations required), so you can enjoy a stroll around the town that is unique to Handa.

Sukiya 24 hours
#WinterTravelSukiya is a Japanese curry restaurant that is open 24 hours. It is a fast and convenient restaurant that is easy to find, suitable for the daily life of Japanese people. The convenience is that it is open 24 hours and the price is not expensive. The author once landed a plane very late and was hungry. He went out to find something to eat at 03:00 and found Sukiya. During the day, there is a cheap set menu from 11:00 to 2:00 p.m. There is no dinner menu, but the price is quite cheap. This restaurant is a place for young office workers because it is convenient, cheap, and fast. Nowadays, there are iPads to choose from. You can choose from the table and pay at the automatic machine. Each dish takes less than 3 minutes to wait. If you are hungry late at night, I recommend it. It is everywhere because there are branches all over Tokyo and every prefecture in Japan. You can eat your fill with just a thousand baht.

Recommended Korean restaurants in Aichi Prefecture🇰🇷
#tripmemory2022
[KOREAN FOOD&CAFE Shinya🇰🇷]
I went to a Korean restaurant in Handa City, Aichi Prefecture.
Lunch set
☑︎Samgyetang 2,068 yen including tax
☑︎Dogani-tang 1,738 yen including tax
You can have as many refills as you want for the four types of banchan and rice😊
In Korea, there is a day called "Bonnar" where people eat nutritious foods such as Samgyetang (Samgyetang) to beat the heat, and this year,
・First Bonnar: July 16th (Sat)
・Middle Bonnar: July 26th (Tue)
・Last Bonnar: August 15th (Mon)
So I ordered Samgyetang.
It's got a lot of meat in it, so maybe two people could share it...
It's got a pretty strong flavor, so it goes really well with rice 🍚
The soup also has rice in it, but I got some rice separately 😆
During lunchtime, for an extra 220 yen, you can also get soft drinks like bonbons and corn tea at a great price

Take a walk along the Handa Canal
The scenery of Handa Canal changes with the seasons. During festivals, stalls are set up, carp streamers sway in the wind and fly high into the sky in May, and windmills made by children spin nostalgically on the banks along the canal. There are many cultural assets in the area, so it's worth seeing. There are also many places to eat, so it's nice to have tea at a cafe after a walk. #ChitaTourism #AichiTourism #CoupleTrip #HandaCanal #WalkingAroundTheCity #WalkingDate

Mizkan Museum
Located in Handa City, Aichi Prefecture, the Mizkan Museum 🍊
I made a reservation through their website. The participation fee was 500 yen, and parking was free.
There was a photo spot where you could take pictures in the shape of a vinegar bottle, which became quite popular for a while. It seemed like you could take photos at any time slot without much trouble!
Inside, the museum is designed as a one-way route where you can view various exhibits and learn how vinegar has been made over the years. It's an enjoyable experience for both children and adults!
In the final area, there’s the famous vinegar photo spot and a machine where you can turn photos taken in a photo booth-like setup into labels for ponzu sauce bottles. Besides vinegar-related exhibits, there are sushi replicas lined up, mini-game corners, and many other fun elements to enjoy!
The machine for creating photo labels offers two options: ponzu sauce and Kantan vinegar. The ponzu labels are for mini-sized bottles, while the Kantan vinegar labels are printed separately for full-sized bottles, allowing you to stick them onto your own Kantan vinegar bottle at home!
It was a fantastic experience, and I highly recommend it! Since the entire facility is indoors, it’s perfect for visiting during cold winters or hot summers! 🍊
