If you like this Panzhihua-Xichang-Miyi route, don't forget to like and save it to make your trip more exciting~
Dadu River Jinkou Grand Canyon, experience the difficulty of the Shu Road.
To get to the Dadu River Jinkou Grand Canyon from Leshan, you can only take the national highway with a speed limit of 40 km/h, which is winding and full of large trucks. After entering the canyon scenic area, the national highway is still under construction, so you have to continue to climb a 6 km long simple road on the cliff, which is only wide enough for one car, and then add a 1 km long tunnel, which is also only wide enough for one car, to reach the Railway Corps Museum. For drivers from large cities in the northern plains, this drive is very exciting.
On the steel cable suspension bridge (Tongxin Bridge) that crosses the canyon, you can overlook the popular water road below. The family on the other side of the bridge has built a viewing platform in their own yard (CNY 2/person, which is not unreasonable). The male owner, speaking in a not very fluent Sichuan dialect, enthusiastically points out the location for tourists to take photos, which is somewhat understandable.
The Railway Corps Museum is built together with the tourist village supported by Pujiang County, Zhejiang Province, so you may feel that the tourist village has a vague sense of déjà vu with the Jiangnan farmhouse.
Looking down from the museum, the Guancunba Station is still in operation. When the Chengdu-Kunming Railway was built in the 1960s, three railway soldiers sacrificed their lives for every kilometer of railway. Today, the railway and highway run parallel to each other, which may be enough to comfort the spirits of the martyrs.
The difficulty of the Shu Road,
Its danger is such,
Why do you come from afar?
The earth collapses and the mountains are crushed, and the strong men die,
Only then can the turbulent and winding road to Sichuan be opened.
The difficulty of the Shu Road was once more difficult than reaching the sky.
Qingxi Confucian Temple is a lesser-known attraction.
① Qingxi Ancient Town is very close to Jiuxiang. The ancient town itself is not particularly special, but the Confucian Temple is worth a visit. Photos taken on a sunny day are beautiful. There is no entrance fee or parking fee.
② Qingxi Confucian Temple is located in Qingxi Ancient Town, deep in the mountains. The environment is quiet and elegant, and the climate is cool and pleasant. In ancient times, it was located on the Tea Horse Road and the Silk Road in Kangzang, a major transportation route connecting Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan. One can imagine its prosperity in those days.
This Confucian Temple was first built in the seventh year of the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty and was relocated and rebuilt several times. It is not large in scale, but it is well preserved. Centered on the Dacheng Hall, it is divided into nine courtyards and three main parts. The stone archway, Lingxing Gate, Pan Pond, Zhuangyuan Bridge, and Confucius statue are all there. The Confucian Temple seems to have all the sights it should have, covering an area of 5,145 square meters. The courtyards with red walls and green tiles, the halls with old traces, the towering ancient trees, and the mottled ancient walls all tell the long history. With the decline of the ancient town, the prosperity of the Confucian Temple is gone. Now it is a bit too quiet and peaceful, forming a huge contrast with the outside world, as if it has been neglected by time and forgotten by the years. In the vicissitudes of history, the Confucian Temple is slowly aging.
The Confucian Temple is a place with legends. Those magical stories always touch the softest part of people's hearts and evoke beautiful visions of the future. Every time before the Confucian Temple sacrifices and exams, some people come with dreams and expectations to worship and pray for Wenchang's enlightenment and success in the imperial examination. We have long passed that dreamy era and will not pin our hopes on a wisp of incense. We are just one of many tourists, coming here with respect for ancient Chinese culture and admiration for the sage Confucius. Of course, among the devout believers, who can say that no new literary stars will appear?
Walking into the Confucian Temple is like traveling through time and space. The light and shadow of the past constantly bring to mind the tall figure of Confucius. Following the trajectory of China's thousand-year history and culture, I began a journey of ancient Chinese culture. In the special cultural soil and historical accumulation of the Confucian Temple, I saw the benchmark of Chinese culture—the profound connotation and far-reaching influence of Confucian thought and culture.
The most memorable hike was the night hike to Gulu Village at 9 pm.
Hiking the cliff path to Gulu Village at 9 pm was quite the experience 😂 It was pitch black the whole way, so I didn't take any photos. The photos were taken the next morning.
Gulu Village was originally called "Gulu Village" and is located on a cliff at the entrance of the Dadu River Grand Canyon in Sichuan. It is a Yi village! The entire village is located on a cliff at an altitude of 1,400 meters, so it is called the "Village on the Cliff." It is said that stones often roll down the cliff from the mountain, making a rumbling sound. Over time, the villagers named the village "Gulu Village" based on the homophonic sound.
📍Navigation: Yixiantian Bridge (Hanyuan, Ya'an)
⏰Hiking time: About 5 hours in total (to the cable car)
🚶🏻♀️Road conditions: Most of the road has no steps, and is a bumpy dirt road in a Z-shape, passing through some caves.
🎫Fee: Free
📝Equipment: Be sure to bring trekking poles, non-slip shoes, and a windproof hat (it's windy on the mountain). Bring a flashlight for night hikes.
🍠Supplies: Villagers sell food at the foot of the mountain, in mountain huts, and at the cable car.
💁🏻♀️About the color of the water
The Dadu River is below the cliff of Gulu Village. If the weather is good, you can see the blue water, but the photos need to be edited. If the weather is average or bad, the water is brown.
🏠"Cliffside Homestay - Alan Zhiruo"
This homestay is built halfway up the mountain, and every brick and tile was carried up by mules. It has a fresh style, with rooms and camping tents to choose from. The room facilities are average, so those who pursue comfort should be cautious. However, the price is cheap, around 300 yuan. Personally, I think the best part is the terrace, where you can enjoy the canyon scenery while having breakfast. The pancakes are good! It takes half an hour to climb from the parking lot at the foot of the mountain to the homestay. There are no street lights at night, so it is recommended to arrive during the day. If you don't want to be too tired, you can turn back at the homestay. The popular photo spots are all within this half-hour journey.
Hanyuan Starlight Market, delicious food, fun, and sporty guys!
Follow the 2024 "Around the Ancient Tea Horse Road" Ya'an Road Cycling Race to Ya'an, ride along the ancient road, and explore the hometown of pandas. The Hanyuan Starlight Market is an important window to learn about Ya'an's folk culture. It is also an innovative integration of culture, sports, business, and tourism in Ya'an, allowing the event to "stay."
"Events set the stage, and culture and tourism take the lead." Ya'an takes advantage of the event to form a new business model that promotes tourism through events, promotes culture through tourism, and integrates culture, sports, business, and tourism. During the day, you can watch cycling competitions, and at night, you can chat and relax with friends at the Starlight Market, where you might even meet a handsome sporty guy.
In addition, the Hanyuan Starlight Market gathers various local delicacies and specialties from Ya'an, dazzling and full of variety. For example, "Hanyuan pepper," which was listed as a tribute in the Tang Dynasty, is fragrant, mellow, and refreshing, and is popular both inside and outside the province. There are also Hanyuan red apples with a temperature difference of 20°C between morning and evening, which have an apple sugar heart. There are also natural organic grilled beef skewers and beef jerky. In addition, there are rich and colorful cultural performances at night, such as bicycle challenge performances and magic shows. The fireworks of the people of Ya'an are fully displayed in the Hanyuan Starlight Market.
The Ya'an Tea Horse Road Cycling Race is a sight to behold!
Ya'an is known as the "Hometown of the Giant Panda." The world's first giant panda came from here! It is the birthplace of world tea civilization and world tea culture. Ya'an is a city steeped in the fragrance of tea and the legends of ancient roads.
The 2024 "Tea Horse Road" Ya'an Road Cycling Race was held in Ya'an, Hanyuan. The riders' heroic postures, cycling competitions, and the real-life version of "Breaking Wind" and "Fast and Furious" are breathtaking.
The "Tea Horse Road" Ya'an Road Cycling Race is the first city-wide cycling event in China and has a wide influence and reputation in the field of Chinese cycling. Cyclists ride freely and compete fiercely between the Tea Horse Road and modern highways. In the end, the winner of the elite group was GROSU Eduard Michael from the MachMaster-incolor team, and the winner of the open group was Ye Cong from the LYKOS team. Congratulations to them again.
Ya'an is the starting point of the Tea Horse Road, the birthplace of giant panda culture, and the birthplace of tea civilization. Through the "Tea Horse Road" Ya'an Road Cycling Race, not only did the participants learn about the treasure "Ya'an," but also many spectators learned about and explored Ya'an. Travel time: 3.5 hours from Chengdu
Dining: There are local snacks sold by locals all the way to the destination. It's best to travel during off-peak times, preferably on weekdays, when it's less crowded and better for taking photos!
Distance: 6-8km, about three hours uphill, and one and a half hours downhill. Watch out for falling rocks.
tips: Be sure to protect yourself from the sun, as this area is at high altitude and the ultraviolet rays are very strong!
Wear proper hiking shoes to prevent foot pain when descending the mountain!
Bring a walking stick, it can save you a lot of energy!
Checked in at Gulu Village
I took a chartered car from Leshan High-speed Train Station and arrived at the mountain entrance before 8 am, when there were almost no people. I took advantage of the cool weather and rushed all the way, reaching the cable car station in an hour and a half. Then, it took another 50 minutes to walk to the Gulu Village viewing platform to check in and take photos. If you don't want to walk, you can also take a motorcycle ride from the cable car station provided by the locals. When I was descending, people were already lining up for photos at the halfway skylight, so it's essential to go up the mountain early. This place has become too popular recently. It took me 4 hours to go up and down the mountain, and it might take 5 to 6 hours for those who don't exercise regularly. There are plenty of snack stalls along the way, so don't worry about supplies.

Leshan Hiking | Gulu Village | A village on the cliff
|||1️⃣Destination: Gulu Village🏡 Search for 'Yixiantian Bridge' in your navigation system. You can park your car when you see a small shop, there are designated parking spots on the side of the road (paid parking). The hiking trail is to the right of the small shop, and there are signs all the way, so you don't have to worry about getting lost. The villagers on the mountain are very friendly, and you can ask them if you have any questions.
2️⃣Hiking Distance: It takes about 2.5 hours to climb the mountain without taking photos or resting. We took about 3.5 hours because we stopped for a meal and to take some photos. There are two ways to descend the mountain: one is to take the cable car from Gulu Village to the opposite mountain, where you can hire a car to go down; the other is to return the same way you came, which takes about 1.5 hours. Points P2 to P5 are great spots for taking photos, and most of the path is a mule track, so be careful.
3️⃣Transportation and Accommodation: It is recommended to drive there by yourself. There are restaurants and accommodations on the mountain, which are owned by the villagers themselves. It is still recommended to have a full meal before starting the climb. We brought camping equipment and cooked instant noodles ourselves.
4️⃣Equipment List: Comfortable hiking shoes, backpack, two or three bottles of water, chocolate, windproof clothing, windproof hat (the wind is very strong on the mountain, so be sure to bring a hat), trekking poles, power bank.
5️⃣Precautions: Do not go on rainy days, as there may be falling rocks on the mountain. It is recommended to go on sunny or overcast days. The wind on the mountain is much stronger than at the base, so be sure to wear a hat. Be careful with your knees when descending, as it is easy to slip. If you're lucky, you might encounter mules. It's suitable for a one-day hike. If you want to visit other places nearby, there is the Jinkouhe Grand Canyon, and a two-day itinerary is also possible.

Outdoor Hiking: One-day Tour of the Ancient Road Village in the Jinkouhe Grand Canyon
Spring is in the air, and it's time to make the most of the springtime by trekking through China's most beautiful canyon to explore the mysterious cliffside ancient village.
The Ancient Road Village in the Jinkouhe Grand Canyon was once cut off from the world, with travel solely dependent on a nearly vertical mule path carved out of the cliff face, creating this heavenly road above the clouds. Some parts of the path go through cave tunnels, and the narrower sections require stooping to proceed. As you search for the path and step on the cliff edges with boulders overhead, it's quite thrilling.
"It's not that Tiger Leaping Gorge isn't worth visiting, but the Ancient Road Village offers better value for money," and "Even the six major sects attacking the Bright Summit didn't have this many people," recently, with the splendid spring weather, the Ancient Road Village in Yongli Yi Ethnic Township, Hanyuan County, Ya'an City, Sichuan Province, has become a new internet-famous check-in spot. The cliffside plank road is bustling with tourists, shoulder to shoulder.
The Ancient Road Village has a history of over 400 years. Initially, the villagers relied on vine ladders to descend from the cliffs to the Dadu River, which was very dangerous. In the 1960s, during the construction of the Chengdu-Kunming Railway, the engineering team welded steel ladders to facilitate the villagers' travel. In 2018, a cableway to the outside world was built, making access more convenient. The Ancient Road Village was originally named Gulu Village, named after the sound of stones rolling down the cliffs, 'gulu gulu.' It is a Yi ethnic village located on the cliffs beside the Dadu River, and the Ancient Road Village is also known as 'the Yi village on the ladder to heaven,' 'the village on the cliff.'
Hiking suggestions for the Ancient Road Village: For a medium-short hike, start from Laiziping to the Erdaoping cableway station, about 4 kilometers, round trip 5-6 hours; for a long hike, start from the Erdaoping cableway station to the Ancient Road Village ladder, about 6 kilometers, round trip 8-9 hours.
Road conditions: The distance from the foot of the mountain to Laiziping halfway up the mountain is about 1km. This section, except for the steep start, becomes wide open and relatively flat after turning over a platform, with little difficulty, taking about 1h; the path from Laiziping to the Erdaoping cableway station is more challenging and is the essence of the Ancient Road Village hiking route.
The 'Mule and Horse Ancient Path' refers to the section from Laiziping to the Erdaoping cableway station: a heavenly road carved out of the cliff face, with a deep abyss on the other side fenced off by iron chains, uneven road surface, and exhausting to walk. Good walking shoes are essential for this approximately 3km stretch with a 1000m elevation gain, and the difficulty is self-evident.
After taking the cable car to the opposite Banjiu Mouth cableway station, walk along the road for about 2km to reach the Ancient Road Village village committee. The slope is gentle, and the road is basically not difficult.
The cableway station charges 80 yuan for a round trip, 50 yuan for one way, and closes at 5:30; it's possible to charter a car down the mountain from the Erdaoping cableway station for 260 yuan per car; parking costs 10 yuan, and overnight parking is 30 yuan; both Laiziping and the Ancient Road Village have dining and accommodation options.
Tips: Self-driving is recommended.
Nearby attractions include the Jinkouhe Grand Canyon, the famous 'Water Highway' is located here, a 7-8 kilometer stretch of national road that is toll-free; the Railway Museum; and White Bear Gully, a very niche free waterfall attraction at the border between Jinkouhe and Ya'an, with narrow roads that are not easy for cars to pass. The above three attractions can be visited along the way.
For more hiking strategies for the Ancient Road Village, it is suggested to refer to Ctrip and make a good plan.

Sichuan•Liangshan | The beauty of the primitive village of Cliff Village
📍Liangshan Prefecture, Zhaojue County, Cliff Village
'Atulieer Village', also known as 'Cliff Village', began the construction of a steel ladder pathway in August 2016, with a total of 2556 steps. The Cliff Village in the Liangshan Mountains mentioned in the documentary 'The Infinite Road' inspired me to decide to trek it myself. 💪🌄
I decided to choose the Cliff Village in the Liangshan Mountains. Walking through the canyon, the geological features are very obvious, with geological folds visible everywhere, and severe weathering of the mountain rocks along the way, often hearing the sound of falling rocks. 🚗🏞️💨
Trekking through the Cliff Village requires the use of both hands and feet, and the vine ladder has become history. Now there is a steel ladder with 2556 steps, and it took about 3 hours to climb up the mountain. The greatness of the steel ladder construction project is astounding, and with the completion of the steel ladder, electricity, communication signals, and tap water have all been extended to the top of the village. I sincerely admire this great infrastructure project. 🌟🚶♀️💧
If you don't walk it yourself, if you don't experience it firsthand, then you can only feel its difficulty. During my days in the Liangshan Mountains, while admiring the beauty of the primitive village, I was grateful for the happiness of my current life and also realized the key role of education in poor mountainous areas. The meaning of life is to give selflessly without expecting anything in return. 🌈🏞️🙏
I hope this trekking experience has been very rewarding for you, and if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask me. 🌄🚶♂️🌿
Jinkouhe Grand Canyon~Gulu Village
Chengdu navigation to Gulu Village
1️⃣ Distance: About a 3-hour drive, it is recommended to set off early, otherwise you can only park on the roadside.
2️⃣ Parking: Walk forward from the starting point of the climb and you will see a parking lot🅿️
I parked for 7 hours and it cost 10 yuan.
3️⃣ Climbing: Divided into 3 stages
The first stage is about 1.4km - reaching a platform with food, 🚾, and a convenience store.
The second stage is about 2.8km - from the platform to the cable car platform, also with food and 🚾
The third stage is about 1.8km - an uphill asphalt road, leading directly to the canyon viewing platform.
Climbing road conditions: The first and second stages are stone steps on the cliffs throughout, as long as it doesn't rain, it won't be slippery. Just go down the mountain slowly and it's ok
The third stage is the kind of asphalt road that can be driven on, just uphill. It will be much better compared to the first and second stages.
4️⃣ Equipment suggestions: If possible, definitely wear quick-drying clothes as a base!!!
Secondly, go light, don't wear cotton clothes or sweatshirts, the lighter the better. Otherwise, it will be a burden to carry around when you get hot.
It is recommended to carry a small bag. Don't bring unnecessary things.
Weekends are definitely crowded, weekdays do not guarantee fewer people.
As for the attractions and check-in points not mentioned, look at the photos, the rest you still have to see for yourself 👀.

The village is located on the top of the cliff, and its connection to the outside world depends on the road carved out of the cliff face. Despite the inconvenience of transportation, it also brings tranquility to the village. After the rain in the early morning, you can enjoy the green mountain scenery on the opposite rock wall, listen to the singing of birds, and feel the breeze of the mountain wind. Leshan Hiking | Gulu Village | A village on the cliff
|Gulu Village| A village on the cliff. Destination: To reach Gulu Village, search for the navigation to the Yixiantian Bridge. You can park your car when you see a small shop; there is a designated parking area on the side of the road (paid parking). The hiking trail starts to the right of the small shop, and there are signs along the way, so there's no worry about getting lost. The villagers on the mountain are very friendly, and you can ask them if you have any questions.
2 Hiking Duration: It takes about 2.5 hours to climb up the mountain without taking photos or resting. We took some time to eat and take pictures, so it took us 3.5 hours. There are two ways to descend: one is to take the cable car from Gulu Village to the opposite mountain, where you can hire a car to go down; the other is to return the same way, which takes about 1.5 hours. P2P5 are great spots for taking photos, and most of the path is a mule track, so be careful.
3 Transportation and Accommodation: It is recommended to drive there by yourself. There are also restaurants and accommodations on the mountain, which are run by the villagers themselves. It is still recommended to have a full meal before starting the climb. We brought camping equipment and cooked instant noodles ourselves.
4 Equipment List: Comfortable hiking shoes, backpack, two or three bottles of water, chocolate, windproof clothing, windproof hat (it's very windy on the mountain, so be sure to bring a hat), trekking poles, power bank.
5 Precautions: Do not go on rainy days as there may be falling rocks on the mountain. It is recommended to go on sunny or overcast days. The wind on the mountain is much stronger than at the base, so be sure to wear a hat. Be careful with your knees when descending, as it is easy to slip. If you're lucky, you might encounter mules. It's suitable for a one-day hike. If you want to visit other places nearby, there is the Jinkouhe Grand Canyon, which can be included in a two-day itinerary.
A jade on the most beautiful road in Sichuan - Hanyuan Lake
Drive along the Chengya Expressway, heading to Xichang. Through the towering mountains, clouds rise and fog falls, high gorges and flat lakes. Get off the highway at Hanyuan, there is a jade green oasis lake in front of you, blue sky and clear water, cloud sky charm. Overlooking Hanyuan Lake, the greenway around the lake, changing scenes and illusions. The meeting of mountains and rivers is a song.
One of the most beautiful canyons in China, the water highway, is worth a visit!
Hello everyone, today I am going to recommend an absolutely unmissable tourist attraction - the only water highway in Sichuan! It has been rated as "one of the most beautiful canyons in China" by National Geographic, with picturesque scenery that makes people linger. It takes 25 hours to drive from Chengdu, and it is very smooth to travel on Sundays too!
Navigation: Gulucun. Starting from Chengdu, the road is unobstructed. As soon as you enter the canyon, the water along the way is emerald green, and there is a dedicated parking lot next to it. After getting off the car, you will see a beautiful "beach".
Walking up, you can overlook the entire canyon. The 2-3 hours of hiking time is a bit tight, so be sure to come and experience it next time! There are two bridges along the way, which are very worth taking photos for memory, and you can also take pictures of the beautiful scenery of the water highway. But be sure to pay attention to safety, there will be more cars on weekends.
Photo spot recommendations:
1. Navigation: Gulucun, the "small beach" next to the parking lot.
2. It's more beautiful going up from Gulucun (didn't go due to time).
3. Navigation: Guancunba Bridge, you can take pictures of the S curve, and you can take pictures of the water highway from above.
In short, this place is really too beautiful, and you will be shocked no matter how many times you come. If you like natural scenery and taking photos for memory, then don't miss this water highway, one of the most beautiful canyons in China! Go and feel it!
"National Geographic" didn't lie to me, the most beautiful canyon in China is stunning!
I simply can't resist such natural scenery. Just 3 hours away from Chengdu, there is such beautiful scenery. It's no wonder it's recommended by my "National Geographic" and included in the "Top Ten Most Beautiful Canyons in China" by National Geographic. It's the only waterway in Sichuan, and there must be a reason for it‼️‼️
The towering peaks on both sides of the canyon are really, really, really spectacular. I really feel how small people are in front of nature, and I really feel the "difficulty of Shu Road" (PS The text I memorized in the past will eventually form a closed loop at an unexpected moment). Please respect life and nature~

Tour route: Chengdu-Gulu Village-Tongxin Bridge-Daduhe Jinkouhe Grand Canyon
Recommended tour days: Two days (mainly deep tour, not tired and relaxed)
🧭Navigation:
Day1⃣️: 1) Gulu Village
Day2⃣️: 2) Tongxin Bridge 3) Jinkouhe Grand Canyon
🚴Transportation:
Strongly recommend self-driving, public transportation here is inconvenient, and the attractions are scattered (the attractions are in a line, very suitable for self-driving, feel the waterway)
Depart from Chengdu: 3h
Attraction introduction⚠️Comprehensive
1) Gulu Village:
1⃣️There is a parking lot under the village (non-major holidays should be able to stop, holidays are probably hanging) so I personally recommend avoiding holidays
2⃣️Gulu Village is mainly about climbing mountains. The village is located on the mountainside and the top of the mountain🏔️. The main thing is to feel the horse road that the ancients opened up when transportation was inconvenient. The whole process is very steep, and the wind is really super super big, the kind that blows people away (maybe it's seasonal) so it's recommended to wear a hat, but the scenery along the way is worth the hardship all the way, the higher you climb, the more magnificent the scenery~
3⃣️The whole process is not stairs, it is uphill, so it is particularly knee-consuming to go up and down the mountain~
4⃣️P7-P13 Gulu Village shooting~
2) Tongxin Bridge
1⃣️Navigation🧭The first village in the canyon/Dao Bing Museum, in fact, it is a village behind the canyon. You can choose to stay here for the first night. The location is convenient, the homestays are very cheap, and the shopkeepers are super super super enthusiastic~ (If you have high requirements for accommodation, it is recommended to stay in Leshan)
2⃣️Go to Tongxin Bridge to overlook the canyon, it is very magnificent, looking at the traffic on the waterway, it is really shocking~ By the way, Tongxin Bridge is also the boundary between Leshan and two mountains~
3⃣️P2-P6 Tongxin Bridge shooting~
3) Jinkouhe Grand Canyon
1⃣️Direct navigation to Daduhe Jinkouhe Grand Canyon Scenic Area, there is a dedicated parking lot, very convenient.
2⃣️Here you can directly see the steep cliffs on both sides of the canyon, the green river, and the waterway, which makes people have to marvel at the magic of nature
3⃣️P1 shooting point
