Roadtrip Down To Kaysersberg
Covid is now a thing of the past, and flights have been so full even I am unable to get on even with a company ticketed fare, which means it's road trip time down towards Zurich but not before stopping in Kaysersberg, a little historical town in France roughly about 3 hours drive from frankfurt.
Kaysersberg js known also as the mountain of the emperor where this is also a popular tourists spot to visit. You will be able to understand the history of Kayersberg during the 1200s and also see the beautiful old town of Kayersber, where surpsingly many of the buildings are quite well mantained like what you see back in Germany.
Of and, you have to visit this cheese shop called Cave D Affinage where its this underground cheese shop, and even for a cheese lover like me the smell of cheese was too overwhelming! oh gosh! But you be able to also see how these cheese are being cut packed and distributed.

A Historically Significant Abandoned Castle
This is a historically significant abandoned castle. The castle dates back to the late 13th century. It was originally inherited by the Münch family of Basel. It was destroyed in the great earthquake of 1356. It was occupied, bombarded, and dismantled by the Swedes and the French. Only the castle was reused by the Germans as an observation post during World War II. It was once used as a royal prison and later as a state prison, hence it was called the 'Alsace Bastille'.
Riquewihr is a town on the Alsace Wine Route in eastern France. Its cobbled streets are dotted with half-timbered winemakers’ shops and tasting rooms. Winemaking tools and a restored kitchen are on display in the 16th-century Maison de Vigneron. The 1291 Dolder Tower houses the Musée du Dolder, featuring centuries-old weapons. The 14th-century Tour des Voleurs, a former prison, has torture instruments.Originally the property of the Dukes of Württemberg, the town was converted to Protestantism in the 16th century. Historically, Riquewihr served as a Winzerdorf or "wine village" as a trading hub for Alsatian and German wine.Riquewihr was one of the few towns in the area not to be badly damaged during World War II. The town is surrounded by its medieval fortifications and is overlooked by a castle from the same period that is today a museum.
There is a museum about Alsace during World War II and a torture chamber.
