Everyone rushes over for the spring flowers in May and June, the lavender in July, the seasonal blooms in August and September, and the snow for skiing in winter, But few people know that the most beautiful season is actually October. It offers the kind of scenery where you don't even have to go out of your way; just stepping off the plane, the sweeping views will make you go "wow." So, for several years now, I might skip visiting Biei in other months, but I absolutely must return in October. When staying in Biei around late September to early October, the plains might still be green, but just take a short drive of a few dozen minutes to Asahidake or Sounkyo..., hop on a cable car, and your jaw will drop at the mountain views right in front of you—the mountains are beautifully color-blocked: white on top (snow), colorful in the middle (autumn foliage), and still green at the bottom—it's simply breathtaking. By mid-to-late October, all of Hokkaido turns into a vibrant palette—hills, fields, roadsides, parks, and villages... In late October, it might snow in the middle of the night, and by early morning, you can see pinkish mountain forests—the lingering red autumn leaves blanketed in white snow. Getting so full just from eating crab that I could barely walk! If you know that feeling of being completely stuffed with succulent crab meat, you know how amazing it is!! Noboribetsu Bear Park is home to around 70 brown bears, a truly impressive number. By combining ecological exhibits, entertaining shows, and Ainu culture, it has become a diverse and highly recommended destination. While the park isn't huge, it is well-designed and packed with things to see. I highly recommend the bear talent show, where you can watch brown bears perform stunts like climbing trees, crossing log bridges, swinging, and foraging for food—it's incredibly entertaining. There's also the "Human Cage," which gives you the thrill of having massive brown bears walking right beside you. For those who love cubs, there are plenty near the entrance to watch, feed, and photograph—they are absolutely adorable! Other activities like duck racing are also available. Pro tip: check the performance schedule beforehand to make your trip smoother. If you're interested, you can purchase bear treats inside the park. It’s a great way to get some cute, interactive photos as the bears often wave or reach out to ask for food. Asahiyama Zoo is a must-visit spot if you're traveling to Asahikawa, Hokkaido 🐧🐻❄️ What struck me most was how close you get to the animals and how many photogenic exhibits there are! From seeing tigers up close to watching penguins swim from directly below and having polar bears walk right up to the glass... it’s amazing ✨ Even just walking around, you’ll constantly find unique vantage points that make you want to snap a photo. I definitely took way more pictures than I expected 📷 The penguins were my absolute favorite 🐧 Since you can photograph them from below, it looks like they’re flying through the blue sky! Capturing shots that you can only get at Asahiyama Zoo was so much fun. The polar bears are also incredibly impressive when they come close to the glass—the sheer scale of them is breathtaking 🐻❄️ Beyond the photos, just observing their natural movements was a joy in itself. The water and the surrounding scenery were right before me, but I was always curious: what would this lake look like from the sky? 🌿 It wasn't until the drone slowly took flight that I saw its complete form for the first time. I realized that the view from the shore was just a small piece of the puzzle. With a change in perspective, a familiar place suddenly looked completely different. This is why I love aerial photography. Sometimes, when you're right in the middle of a scene, you can't see the whole picture. By stepping back a little, you discover even more details worth remembering. Life is often just like that. When you travel, do you prefer to get up close and feel the moment, or do you like to see the full view from above?

The Tokachi Wagyu, mixed beef, and Genghis Khan beef were reasonably priced and delicious. I ordered several plates of meat, and none of them were bad; the marbling and charring were just right. I used a map link to book a table at Hot Pepper that day, which was quick and convenient. The three of us ended up spending around 16,000 yen (we didn't even look at the price list when ordering 😆). With free apples at check-in, all-you-can-drink apple juice, and lavish breakfast and dinner spreads. It is truly a perfect destination for family trips. After two nights in Aomori, we caught a domestic flight to New Chitose. We spent five days staying in Sapporo. We visited Otaru, Hoheikyo Onsen, the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters stadium, and several shrines; we also had an all-you-can-eat crab feast and explored Tanukikoji. The 8 days and 7 nights just flew by! I highly recommend visiting Aomori to experience the slow-paced lifestyle.

I recently visited Hokkaido and stayed at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Sapporo, and I couldn't be happier with my choice! 💯 I've put together a review of my stay to share with you all~ 📍 Location & Transportation: The hotel is located at 6-18-3 Kita 5-jo Nishi, Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido. It’s just a 4-minute walk from the West Exit of JR Sapporo Station! 🚶 Access to the Namboku and Toho subway lines at "Sapporo Station" is also about 4 minutes away on foot—so convenient! From New Chitose Airport, take the JR Rapid "Airport" train (about 37–40 mins) to Sapporo Station, and the hotel is just a few steps away. ✈️ 🏨 Hotel Facilities: Freshly renovated in February 2026, the rooms are spotless and cozy! The premium mattresses are incredibly comfortable—I slept like a baby! 😴 The entire hotel is non-smoking and offers free Wi-Fi. They’ve really thought of everything. ♨️ Garden Bath (Large Public Bath): I have to rave about this! There’s a large public bath for men and women on the 2nd floor where you can soak while looking out at a beautiful stone garden. The vibe is amazing! 🛁 It stays open until the next morning, so it’s the perfect way to melt away the fatigue after a long day of exploring. Truly a game-changer! 🏢 Multi-functional Lounge: Open 24 hours and equipped with laundry machines, a coffee maker, and a microwave. It’s like having a mini lifestyle hub right in the hotel—super handy for grabbing a coffee while doing a load of laundry! 🍱 Breakfast at "Hakko &": This place specializes in traditional Japanese fermentation! The breakfast is a Japanese-Western buffet featuring miso-koji grilled dishes, freshly made Hokkaido rice balls, and savory dashi-based items. Everything was delicious! 🥹 Plus, they focus on gut-friendly ingredients, so you leave feeling great. 🚶 Nearby Attractions: · Former Hokkaido Government Office: ~5 min walk · Odori Park & Clock Tower: ~10-15 min walk · Tanukikoji Shopping Street: ~15-20 min walk · Department stores & dining around Sapporo Station: Super convenient!
