The magnificent Khan Mountain Scenic Area in Inner Mongolia.
The magnificent Khan Mountain Scenic Area in Inner Mongolia.
The Khan Mountain Scenic Area is located at the foot of Guanyin Mountain in Holingol, Inner Mongolia, and is divided into four parts: the mountain gate, the road of the gray wolf, the Mongolian Yuan formation, and the Mongolian Yuan emperor sculpture group.
You can see the giant statues of Yuan Taizu Genghis Khan and Yuan Shizu Kublai Khan on the top of the mountain.
At the foot of the mountain, you can see the grassland scenery, which is refreshing and worthwhile.
The third day of self-driving in Ulagai Grassland
Around 7 a.m., the hotel staff delivered breakfast to the yurt. We sat by the window, enjoying the scenery and having breakfast. It was very pleasant. The breakfast included coffee, milk tea, scrolls, steamed buns, small cakes, and a food box with fried rice, two types of pickles, and three types of stir-fried dishes. I thought the taste was average, but the variety was quite comprehensive.
After breakfast, we went to ride motorcycles in the tribe, galloping on the grassland. It cost 100 yuan for a small circle and 200 yuan for a large circle. You can also ride horses and camels.
We drove back to Horinger to have lunch at Aili Milk Tea House, which took about an hour. We weren't in as much of a hurry as yesterday, so we slowly enjoyed the scenery. We passed several viewing platforms at Ulagai Lake, chose one to go down and take some photos. We also passed the largest bend in Nine Curves Bay, which was quite beautiful, and we took some photos there too.
Highly recommend this milk tea house; the food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, and the portions are large. The milk tea was salty, which we weren't used to, so we added some sugar, and it tasted just right. We couldn't stop drinking it.
Next, we continued our journey. Near Zhalute, we encountered a grassland, which was quiet and beautiful. We rode horses there, costing 100 yuan for a small circle and 200 yuan for a large circle.
Throughout this journey, we experienced rain, sunshine, and fog. We went from wearing ultra-light down jackets to long-sleeve shirts, and finally to short sleeves. It was a memorable trip.

The Wulagai Grassland in Xilin Gol League of Inner Mongolia is a rare and preserved original ecological grassland in the world. There is no industrial and commercial development here, and it has the reputation of Tianbian Grassland. The film "Wolf Totem" was filmed in Ulagai, and the town of the Corps was the main scene for filming.
There is a sudden emergence of a small town on the grassland, and it still retains the strong style of the sixties and seventies. This is not to be of interest to tourists. The town of the regiment was built mainly for the film "Wolf Totem", and many scenes in the movie can be found here.
Most of the houses are built with bricks and clay. They are relatively simple and functional, including veterinary stations, hairdressers, canteens, cinemas and other unique houses.
After the film was filmed, the town was handed over to the local tourism bureau for management. Now it has become a scenic spot in Ulagai. After many tourists watched the movie, they wanted to come here to find the place where the male lead Feng Shaofeng lived.
There is a photo studio in the town of the regiment. Renting clothing is their main source of income. Most of the tourists here will spend 20 yuan to rent a military uniform. After wearing it, it is very suitable for taking pictures. . In fact, this place of the Urugai Grassland once belonged to the Inner Mongolia Production and Construction Corps in the 1960s and 1970s.
All buildings are open and can be visited. The interior still retains the appearance of 40 or 50 years ago.
