Honfleur, a port city in France
Honfleur is a port town in France!
This is a place where trade with England was active. The buildings are lined with historic wooden architecture, and the colorful colors give it a very stylish and cute look 😳❤
As it is a port town, salt and salted caramel are famous 🍭🍬
This area is also home to the birthplace of musician Erik Satie 😊
Speaking of Satie, "Gymnopedie" and "Je teux veux" are famous!
There are also museums and churches, and to be honest, I couldn't see everything in one day 🥺
I think it's better to stay overnight 😅
If you have the opportunity, please visit and see the sights ✨

Great calm location
The hotel is 5 mins by walk from the bus terminal, which makes it extremely convenient. It's another 5 mins from the old town. Breakfast is included in the room rate and is basic but quite adequate.
The rooms facing the back are especially quiet and relaxing which makes for a good stay. The rooms are extremely modern but very adequate.
Finally the staff are extremely lovely and friendly. So overall a great overall choice; convenient and comfortable.

The beautiful port city of Honfleur
Honfleur, which I visited while on a tour of Mont Saint-Michel, had an unexpected beauty🙊♥️ I didn't expect anything, but the colorful buildings were so pretty that I took dozens of picturesㅎㅎ Honfleur has cheap and delicious rose sparkling wine, so I recommend wine shopping‼️ I bought wine and drank it in Mont Saint-Michelㅎㅎ When I went, there was a small market, so it was fun to look around‼️ You should definitely visit Honfleur, a port city with beautiful corners😍

In Honfleur, I was able to see the cute and colorful appearance of the town while walking around the town.
It was also fun to look at the various shops☺️
Also, I was able to taste the traditional Normandy region liquor, ‘Apple Cider’ and ‘Calvados’ apple distillate! I remember it being delicious as it was famous.🍎🥂

Honfleur - France: A couple hours drive from Paris. This is a lovely town with old style building. We can take a walk around the city and enjoy nice Seafood meals there during the day. There are a lot of restaurants located nearby the pier. There is also an old church located up on the hill which take half an hour walk only. 🛥🛥🛥

Honfleur is a picturesque harbor town in Normandy, famous for its postcard-perfect old port lined with tall, colorful houses. Wander cobbled streets, visit the wooden Sainte-Catherine Church, and explore art galleries inspired by Monet and the Impressionists. 【🇫🇷A week trip to France
This summer, I traveled to France using trip.com!
First, I took a bus from the airport to Paris city center. 🚌
I got off at the last stop, the Opera House, but I was so tired from the long journey that I headed straight to my hotel without any time to enjoy the scenery.
It wasn't until I saw the Eiffel Tower in the first photo that I really felt like I was in France. I think this was the rooftop of a shopping center called Galeries Lafayette! The rooftop, with its great view, was bustling with tourists.
A foreign country, especially Paris, is so enjoyable just to walk around, so I spent the first half of my week mostly getting around on foot.
On the third day, I took a sightseeing bus to see Mont Saint-Michel. It was heartwarming to see a view I'd seen in textbooks unfold before my eyes. lol Along the way, I also stopped off in the small port town of Honfleur, where I was able to experience the charm of a city that's so uniquely French, not just Paris.
On the fifth day, I visited the Palace of Versailles. It was truly breathtaking. Not only the famous Hall of Mirrors, but every area of the palace was majestic and beautiful. However, I went in without doing much research, and later regretted not renting an audio guide. That's because I couldn't really understand what each exhibit was just by looking. I was fully satisfied without the audio guide, but if you have the time, I recommend renting one!
✈️
It was my first trip to Europe, and I was nervous, but the beauty of the French city helped me ease my nerves! I'd definitely like to visit again if I have the chance!

Here’s a quick-hit guide to soaking up Honfleur, the absolute gem of Normandy 🌊🕰️! If you crave those storybook cobblestone streets and ridiculously scenic harbor views, this is your spot. Plus, it’s a perfect pit stop driving between Deauville and Trouville.
Must-See Places in Honfleur:
- Vieux Bassin (Old Harbor): The heart of Honfleur, lined with tall slate houses and artsy cafes. Stroll, snap pics, soak up the Norman vibes! (Quai Sainte-Catherine, open 24/7)
- Saint Catherine’s Church: Built by shipbuilders with timber; it’s Europe’s largest wooden church and crazy photogenic. (Rue des Logettes, 10am-6pm)
- Greniers à Sel (Salt Warehouses): Explore the town’s old salt warehouses, now cultural spaces. (Rue de la Ville, hours vary)
- Lieutenancy House: Picture-perfect waterfront spot with history. Just walk by for that classic Honfleur shot. (Quai Sainte-Catherine)
Pro tip: Food here is yummy but kind of pricey, so budget accordingly. Maybe skip the waterfront meal and sneak into a side street bistro for better vibes and less pain for your wallet!
Getting Around: Honfleur is tiny. Park outside the center, then wander everywhere by foot — you’ll want to! If you’re heading onward to Deauville or Trouville, Honfleur is totally doable as a half-day stop on your Normandy road trip.
Travel Tips:
- Be ready for “old Europe” feels — bring comfy shoes for walking those cobbles.
- Some attractions have short afternoon closure, so try mornings for sightseeing.
- Cash is useful for small purchases and coffee stops.

Honfleur, a Picturesque and Tranquil Harbor Town
Walking along the narrow alleys, I found colorful timber-framed buildings embracing the harbor. Small boats gently floated on the water, and flowers bloomed in every window—this was **Honfleur**.
True to its reputation as a beloved town of Impressionist painters, the scenery here was a beautiful play of light and shadow. Though small, Honfleur was a gem of northwestern France that left a lasting impression on my heart.

The heart of Honfleur is the old port, Vieux-Bassin. Built in the 17th century, this port played a vital role as a hub for maritime trade and shipping in the Normandy region ⚓️.
The colorful buildings are particularly striking and never fail to captivate. The town's atmosphere is both charming and stylish, embodying the essence of a port town.

The alleys of Honfleur
were small and old, but very warm.
As you walk along the stone pavement,
houses with wooden window frames and flowers,
and small cafes and galleries quietly catch your eye.
As you exit the alley, the port spreads out in front of you.
The colorful buildings and ships floating on the calm waves,
the scenery was so pretty that you wanted to look at it for a long time.
It was an afternoon where you could do nothing,
just walk, stay, and look,
and your mind would calm down.
Honfleur was the town that best suits
people who walk slowly.

The colorful buildings lining the narrow streets and canals,

It is said that it is a city where Impressionist painters actually stayed and explored light and color.

Emotional Spot, Tour of the Alleyways of Honfleur
#JulyTravelSupport
Honfleur, which I thought was only pretty in the harbor,
was actually a town with more charm inside the alleys.
As I slowly walked along the small stone paths,
old wooden buildings, colorful window frames,
and flowers hanging on the windows quietly greeted me.
There were small galleries and prop shops hidden between the alleys,
so it was fun to look around each one.
A cat I happened to meet while walking down the street,
a cafe with an old sign,
and even the moment I sat on a wooden bench and watched the sunset—
everything in this town felt like a painting.

A Village Filled with the Scent of the Sea: A Trip to Honfleur
I visited Honfleur, a small seaside village in Normandy. Centered around a quaint harbor, colorful houses are clustered together, creating a picturesque scene. On the calm waters, yachts and boats quietly float.
Walking along the harbor, you'll find small galleries, antique shops, and charming cafes lining the streets. Every alley is filled with artistic touches, offering a delightful view at every turn.

Honfleur, the Wooden Saint Catherine's Church
In the heart of the harbor town of Honfleur, as you walk through the crowd, you will come across the serene Saint Catherine's Church.
This old church, built not with stone but with wood, exudes a warm feeling from its exterior. Upon entering, the ceiling, resembling an inverted ship, immediately catches your eye.
Learning that it was crafted by shipbuilders makes each grain of wood feel even more precious. Though small, the space is reverent and tranquil, yet profoundly moving.
The alleys imbued with the scent of the sea and this wooden church make Honfleur even more beautiful and unique.

Honfleur Local Restaurant Recommendation: L’ESCALE
🍽️ Honfleur Local Restaurant Recommendation: L’ESCALE
A hidden gem located slightly away from the harbor
While Honfleur boasts many fancy restaurants around the harbor, if you venture just a bit into the alleys, you'll find authentic gems waiting for you. Among them, L’ESCALE stands out as a traditional French seafood restaurant more popular with locals than tourists. Though not directly by the harbor, it offers a quiet and cozy atmosphere where you can truly savor the flavors.
🦐 Recommended Dishes
Moules à la crème (Cream Mussels): Rich and creamy sauce that pairs perfectly with baguette—simply divine!
Plateau de fruits de mer (Seafood Platter): Exceptionally fresh! Best enjoyed with two or more people.
Foie gras maison (Homemade Foie Gras): A classic French appetizer that pairs wonderfully with wine.
Complete your meal with Cidre brut or a local wine 🍷
🍷 Ambiance & Service
Though modest from the outside, the interior is warm and tidy. The staff are friendly and accommodating, making it easy for travelers—even those not fluent in French—to feel at ease. Prices are more reasonable compared to harbor-view restaurants, ensuring high satisfaction.

This is Honfleur.
This is a city where many famous French artists were born or lived, and now serves as a small port. There are many delicious restaurants along the seaside road, and no matter which one you go into, it's delicious.
There are many apples produced in the area, and the apples are delicious. Thanks to that, I also bought cider, but it's so delicious that I regret not buying more.
