Backstreets of Huangpu, Shanghai🪭📍
The backstreets of Huangpu District, Shanghai🪭🇨🇳
Some of my favourite areas to be found in this city are the streets adjacent to The Bund, East Nanjing Road and the Huangpu River 🌇 people are often drawn in by the European-style architecture to be found along East Zhongshan Road but what hides behind is even more special🫶🏻
Hidden amidst the bustling skyscrapers and neon lights of Shanghai’s Huangpu district lie enchanting backstreets waiting to be explored. Wandering through these narrow lanes is like stepping into a time capsule, where traditional Shanghainese architecture and local life converge. Here, you’ll find quaint tea houses tucked away in century-old buildings, their red lanterns gently swaying in the breeze 📌🏮
Shanghai has become known for towering skyscrapers and illuminating lights but would you like to see these more traditional parts of Shanghai?🇨🇳

Spend a day exploring Huangpu District in Shanghai🏙️🌃 As one of the most popular areas for both tourists and locals alike, Huangpu District offers the most interesting mix of old and new Shanghai! 🌆 With many old, abandoned buildings and historic architecture, you can get a taste of the old city whilst admiring the overlooking Lujiazui in the background! This is one of the most interesting parts of the city ☁️💛🌼 #shanghaitravel #urbanexplorer #shanghailife #architecture #shanghai
South Henan Road Walking Route, Shanghai❣️🇨🇳
Shanghai is a city known for its beautiful views, tall skyscrapers and unique architecture, all of which can be viewed from many different parts of the city! One of the quieter and more unique walking routes follows South Henan Road from Yuyuan to Lujiabang Road🚅🚇 This walking route is so interesting because it offers views which mix both the oldest and newest parts of Shanghai🏙️ You can enjoy the stark contrast between old neighborhoods and modern Lujiazui, all of which can be seen from a not too busy area! Don’t miss this great walking route around Shanghai✨⚡️🌟 #shanghai #urbanexplorer #shanghailife #citylife #cityvibes
Experience rich history and culture
The Huangpu Historic Area in Shanghai is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in history and culture. This area is home to a variety of colonial-era buildings and historic landmarks, and it offers a unique glimpse into Shanghai's past.
One of the highlights of the Huangpu Historic Area is the Bund, a famous waterfront area that's lined with colonial-era buildings and offers stunning views of the city skyline. Visitors can stroll along the riverfront and admire the architecture, or take a river cruise to get a closer look.
Another must-visit destination in the Huangpu Historic Area is the Yu Garden, a beautiful classical Chinese garden that dates back over 400 years. This stunning garden is home to a variety of pavilions, rock formations, and ponds, and it's a popular spot for taking photos and relaxing.
Christmas Market
This Christmas market in Shanghai is probably the best one of them all. It’s 30 yuan to get in and you can walk around and have some German food. They’ve got Tacos too. Quite a few places are selling mulled wine, hot cider etc. Good place to hang out with your friends and have a few drinks. I tried some potato pancakes and they were really good.

Chillin' at Livingroom Cafe
Livingroom cafe is located at No. 388 Bansongyuan Road Jinhe Yuejie International Horticultural Expo Garden, Huangpu Shanghai. It is a very relaxing cafe. It offers coffee, tea, some alcoholic drinks, and some desserts. The staffs are quite friendly and very approachable. It is a modern style cafe. I like the ambiance of it.
My boyfriend and I had an afternoon tea before entering Teamlab Borderless. The cafe is nearby the place. I love their Oreo cheesecake. Tea is already good for two. There are few cafes around but this one caught our attention first. It was a great choice. I would say.

A Perfect Garden Brunch with Swings!
It’s finally warming up in Shanghai, which means patio brunches will soon be the new norm. We ventured out to FloretChild’s patio at LuOne to see what all the buzz is about at this popular restaurant.
We had to wait in line on a weekend afternoon, so try and come early if you’d prefer to skip the crowds. The restaurant is dotted with fresh flowers and greenery, and one of the highlights are the swings that also function as seats at the table. Outdoor seating is available.
Each dish on the menu is curated perfectly for photos, with some of the standouts being the blueberry pancakes and avocado eggs Benedict. Five styles of toast are available, along with coffee and fresh juices to perk up your morning.

Biking in Shanghai - my favorite experience
#traveldiaries
Shanghai is a modern and beautiful city with a long history, and every road and street has its own unique vibe and historical charm. People in Shanghai, both locals and tourists, love biking, and I found cycling here to be incredibly relaxing. Bikes are abundant in the city, and if you're a foreigner, you can easily rent the blue bikes using the Alipay app. When I visited last June, I purchased a 9 RMB package, which allowed me to ride for free for a whole week—such a great deal! My favorite route is in the Huangpu District, near the Bund Finance Center. The roads are wide and lined with trees, making the experience refreshing, and the view of the Shanghai Tower adds an extraordinary touch.
Stayed with my boyfriend at a hotel near the Shanghai Bund, it was amazing!!
Stayed with my boyfriend at a hotel near the Shanghai Bund, it was amazing!!
Don't disturb me, I found a super affordable hotel near the Shanghai Bund. Walking distance to the metro station √ Close to the Bund √ Fully smart room. Next time I come to Shanghai, I'll definitely stay at this Bund hotel.
The transportation is very convenient, with nearby metro and bus stations making it easy to reach most attractions within 2-3 stops. It's perfect for tourists.
The room is not large, but it is well-equipped. It has a small fridge, a phone holder on the bed, a makeup mirror, and a full-length mirror. There are plenty of sockets, so you can charge your devices anywhere. You can even see the river view from the window. The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area, with Hansgrohe fixtures and Ora2 toothpaste, showing the hotel's attention to detail.
The hotel is located along the Huangpu River, and you can walk to the riverside after stepping out. You can also take pictures of the Shanghai skyline without the crowds at the Bund. In the early morning, you can take a stroll along the river and watch the Dongjiadu ferry carrying people with electric bikes across the river, which feels very relaxing.
The hotel lobby is well-equipped with a coffee area, game area, dining area, gym, and laundry facilities. There is also free parking, so you can drive here without worry. Breakfast is buffet-style and tastes good. There are also small wontons available at 10 PM, which are really delicious!

Yep, the morning sun coming in is super cozy, and you can even see little
squirrels jumping across from the opposite building, super healing~
Staying here is also super comfortable
As soon as you come in, you can smell a faint scent, it's clean and tidy with daily housekeeping, you can walk around barefoot! Staying here is also too reassuring bah~ French decoration is super stylish, and the bedding is also very comfortable, moving in is like escaping into a princess's life, it's just too pleasant I say!
The location is spot on
The subway station is only a few hundred meters from the B&B, just a few minutes' walk away! The transportation is very convenient~ There are also many local snacks and gourmet foods around, super satisfying for the taste buds, and the Oriental Pearl Tower is only 4.6 kilometers away, staying here is too convenient!

First-time travel to Shanghai, staying at a superb hotel on the Bund!!
👉Quiet please🤐 I found an ultra-affordable hotel on the Shanghai Bund
✅Close to the Bund ✅Fully smart home ✅Walking distance to subway station From now on, I'll stick to this Bund hotel🏠
👉The room is small, but well-equipped. There's a mini-fridge, a mobile phone stand on the bed, a makeup mirror, and a full-length mirror. Plus, there are plenty of power outlets. You can even see a small river view from the window~~ The bathroom is separated into wet and dry areas✨ The sanitary ware is by Hansgrohe, and the toothpaste is ora2, which shows they really care👊
👉The hotel is located along the Huangpu River Just a short walk from the hotel, you can reach the riverside of the Huangpu River, and you can even take photos of the iconic Shanghai skyline without the overcrowding like at the Bund!! It's so pleasant to take a morning walk by the river, watching the Dongjiadu Ferry carrying people on electric bikes back and forth across the river😄😄
👉Transportation is also very convenient, with subways and buses nearby, and most attractions are just 2 to 3 stops away, which is great for tourists😌
👉The hotel lobby has a coffee area, a gaming area, a dining area, a gym, and laundry facilities. There's also a free parking lot for those driving, so no worries! Breakfast is buffet style, and the taste is standard, but there are delicious small wontons to eat at ten o'clock at night, very fragrant!!👍

Wudek Bronze Waltz|Aisi Apartment (478)
|Aisi Apartment (478). Aisi Apartment, located at the intersection of Huaihai Middle Road and Ruijin First Road in bustling Shanghai, originally named Aisi Apartment, built in 1927, it has almost a hundred years of history.
Walking on Huaihai Middle Road, you can see Ruijin Apartment from a distance. It "occupies" the corners of Huaihai Middle Road and Ruijin First Road, and is an early peripheral apartment built in Shanghai. It was designed by the internationally renowned architect Wudek in April 1926 and built in 1927. The total land area is 600㎡, and the building area is 2941㎡, with a reinforced concrete frame structure.
The European Renaissance-style Ruijin Apartment "frames" the skyscraper next door, one modern and one retro, which seems not as discordant as imagined.
Aisi Apartment was the most popular apartment building with shops on the ground floor at that time. The building is seven stories high, with shops on the ground floor. Owning a seven-story building on the expensive Xiafei Road (now Huaihai Middle Road) at that time, it was one of the earliest high-end apartments in Shanghai.
The apartment facade is covered with convex windows that emphasize vertical composition, and the windows are equipped with bamboo-shaped thin round columns. The upper double eaves are decorated with semi-circular windows connected by horizontal lines.
These exquisite designs make people sigh. Looking at the retro and artistic Aisi Apartment, you seem to be in romantic France. The extended balcony is surrounded by black railings, as if you can see a young foreign woman standing on the window sill, calling the lover downstairs...
Walking into Ruijin Apartment, what comes into view is the ceiling of the corridor on the ground floor, which is composed of hemispheres, exuding elegance and nostalgia.
Walking forward to the corner is the staircase of the apartment, and there is an elevator opposite the staircase. It is understood that Aisi Apartment was the earliest apartment with modern facilities, refrigerator, elevator, gas, and even incinerator.
The existence of these modern facilities in Shanghai in the 1920s is indeed very avant-garde. It is not difficult to imagine that the people who lived here must have been "outstanding".
The corridors and stairs on the ground floor are all "mosaic floor tiles", quite distinctive. The main tone of the semi-circular corner of the stairs is small square ceramic tiles in black and white. Under the skillful hands of the workers, they have become simple and stylish patterns. These paved patterns seem to be Wudek's pursuit of architectural aesthetics all the way.
The staircase is a wrought iron staircase, and its beauty is interpreted through careful design and craftsmanship.
The middle part of the wrought iron staircase is a combination of circles and ellipses, with spiral shapes interspersed on both sides, which is quite interesting.
On the bustling Huaihai Middle Road, Ruijin Apartment is quietly located there. It has its own unique style but it is always so eye-catching, it is hard to ignore.
