Now about the route: 1. 8:45 AM — Early departure to Tangkou village. ⚠️ Important: Arrange a transfer to the station in advance. We arrived around 10am and only managed to see The Guest Greeting Pine and Bright Summit because these are the paths accessible from the Yuping cable car area. Since it was nearly 4pm, we headed to the cable car near Bright Summit (Yungu direction) to head back home. Yes, cable cars only run until 4pm, and lines can be long. The entrance ticket doesn't include cable cars or buses, so when you add those costs, it gets pretty pricey, but the views are definitely worth it. You can see the sea of clouds from these spots, along with many unusual-looking rocks. We even saw monkeys on the way to Bright Summit. Although we didn't have time to explore as much as we wanted, we still enjoyed many stunning views. You can only see the sunrise and sunset if you stay at some of the mountain hotels or choose to walk down because of the cable car's operating hours. This is your starting point. 2. Bus 🚌 · From: Shanghai South Long-Distance Bus Station. · Duration: About 5-6 hours. · Advantage: Often takes you directly to Tangkou. We took the high-speed train to Huangshan North Station. After exiting, turn right and walk about 5 minutes to the bus station. The bus takes about 40 minutes to the South Gate, where we stayed. The Huangshan Scenic Area ticket allows for two entrances to the mountain. On the first day, we took the Yungu Cableway up and the Yuping Cableway down. On the second day, we took the Taiping Cableway up and the Yuping Cableway down. Of course, you had to pay for the cableway and bus fares again for the second day. Note for those who want a second entrance to the mountain‼ ️ Within three days of the first use of your ticket (the first use being the first day), you must go to the free ticket processing counter at the Huangshan Scenic Area South Gate Ticket Reservation Office or the North Gate Ticket Service Counter to complete the second entrance free ticket processing in person. 🐉 Nine Dragon Waterfall ✨This glorious 2 hour round trip hike is well worth the steps! 🥾Just stunning! One of my favourite waterfalls in China so dar! The first 30 mins or so you follow the river trail upwards. 🚶‍♀️There is a small old temple ⛩and then a bigger more impressive one where you can donate for coins and put into various bowls for offerings. It’s newly built/renovated. There is an obstacle course (198 for 22 obstacles – 98 for 11) you can do which is slightly obstructive to the river views on your way up but when you reach the big waterfalls it’s views for days! 🤩 Would highly recommend taking the stairs on the left of the first big waterfall – 🥾this will lead you to the “first waterfall” which is out of this world. 😍There are three waterfalls up top – a long bench to sit and admire and a small pagoda area to sit under if it’s raining with views. 🏞 🚙This is about a 5 mins drive from the South Gate to Mount Huangshan South Gate. Plenty of hotels nearby to stay – I would recommend my wonderful hotel called HuangShan YiYunShanJu as it’s only a 5 mins drive from here. #mountainview #tripblazers

Huangshan Mountain or Yellow Mountain is one of the most famous mountains, and for me the most beautiful in China. Located at the scenic area of Anhui province, it’s always flocked by domestic tourists, especially during the peak seasons. There are several hiking routes up and around Huangshan, with the main 3 routes are the western steps, the eastern steps, and the west side canyon. We took the eastern steps, which is the quickest route with 3 hours hiking time. The walking trails are all well-paved with stone steps, so I’d say it’s pretty safe even for beginners.
